Protect your little one as he grows with BornFreeTM products that range from bottles to drinking cups to sterilisers. Designed to be safe and smart, they're now available from selected retailers (see www.babybornfree.co.uk for more details)

As a mum-to-be or a new mum, you want the safest start in life for your baby. You need to feel that you can totally trust the products you give to your child.

BornFreeTM was created to offer peace of mind to parents when it comes to feeding, by producing baby products that are 100% free from Bisphenol-A (BPA), phthalates and PVC.

The BPA story

You may be aware of concerns about Bisphenol-A, also known as BPA. It's a chemical that's widely used in plastic manufacture and is commonly found in food and drink containers, including some baby bottles and other baby products.

Reports have suggested that small amounts of BPA may leach into food or drinks stored in polycarbonate bottles and containers, especially when the contents are heated.

Recent research suggests that BPA is a chemical that mimics the effect of the hormone oestrogen and may cause developmental and neurological problems in babies and young children. Safety first

That's why BornFreeTM decided to start producing BPA-free bottles back in 2006. The company wanted to create products that mums and dads could feel confident were not only high-quality but also safe for their babies.

In fact, not only are all of BornFree's products BPA-free, they're also free from the chemicals phthalates and PVC.

In 2008, Canada banned all baby feeding products including bottles made with BPA, while in the US steps are being taken to introduce a similar ban in several states. However, in the UK, you can still buy bottles and food containers made from plastics containing BPA.

Did you know?

BornFreeTM leak-proof bottles and cups feature a unique and highly-effective venting system, which can help reduce the symptoms of colic and the onset of middle-ear infections in newborn babies. Also, similar to breast feeding, the free flow air valve starts a steady flow of liquid only when your baby suckles, making this the perfect bottle for combination breast and bottle feeding.

What parents need to know about BPA

* BPA is still commonly used to make plastics in the UK.
* BPA may leach out of plastic containers into the food or drink inside. * This leaching occurs over time and can be increased by the heating of the container.
* Research suggests that BPA may cause developmental and neurological problems when it leaches from plastic and is absorbed into the body.
* Babies and young children may be particularly at risk as their bodies and neurological systems are still developing.
* The entire range of BornFree products are free from BPA. Glass bottles are also BPA free.
* BornFree is the world's leading brand for baby bottles and feeding devices free from BPA, phthalates and PVC.
