Brad and Dani welcomed baby Nico earlier this year
Liverpool goalkeeper Brad Jones has welcomed the birth of a baby boy Nico after his six-year-old son Luca died from a rare form of leukemia, reports the Mirror.
Brad and wife Dani now have something positive to focus on after losing their son Luca to acute myeloid leukemia just 5 months earlier.
Luca died after undergoing 18 months of treatment for the disease, including a blood cell transplant, which was unsuccessful.
Dani told Luca she was having a baby when she was six weeks pregnant in an attempt to keep his spirits up. Luca was so thrilled with the news he even drew pictures of the family ready for when his baby brother arrived.
Sadly Luca, who passed away just two months later, didn’t live to meet his baby brother.
“Having a newborn baby to look after has given us a focus, something positive in our lives again,” said Brad.
“No one will ever replace Luca but Nico is a blessing. It means we can share happy times again.”
