RECARO, that well-known name in baby and child car seats, has a new travel system on the way. Called the Akuna, it combines RECARO’s plush yet sturdy Young Profi Plus car seat with the Akuna pushchair and optional carrycot.
The RECARO Akuna Travel System is based on an ultra light aluminium chassis, which we’ve been told can fit into even the smallest car once folded. By attaching the carrycot or the Young Profi Plus car seat, the system is suitable for your newborn. The Young Profi Plus is a Group 0+ option, so it will last until your baby weighs 13kg, or is about 15 months old. Our sister site MadeForMums reviewed the Young Profi Plus car seat early this year, and it scored a commendable 4 out of 5 stars.
As a buggy, the Akuna can be used in rear facing or forward facing mode, and the canopy has an integral window too, so you can keep your eye on your baby. It also boasts:
- 3-position seat recline
- 5-point harness to keep your baby secure
- Bumper bar
- Rear wheels that are spring mounted to help with manoeuvrability and a comfy ride
- Foot-operated brake
- Height adjustable handles (good news for those of us sharing the buggy-pushing with a partner of a different height)
- And the rather nice touch of a cup-holder mounted on the frame!
So how much can you expect to pay? The buggy, car seat and carrycot package has a price tag of £395. However, you can opt for just the buggy and car seat, £310, or if you’re just after a pushchair, you can buy the Akuna for £205.
You can choose between the Bellini Punched Cherry/Black colourway or the Trendline Bellini Asphalt/Grey option, and the list of accessories includes:
- Sleeping Bag, £32.50
- Large changing bag, £39.50
- Small changing bag, £34.50
- Parasol, £12.50
- Raincover, £12.50
- Mosquito net, £9.50
Due out in the next few weeks, we can’t wait to see how the RECARO Akuna performs when MadeForMums puts it to the test!
