Pop star dotes on sister Dannii’s son Ethan after accepting the chances of having her own baby are slim
Kylie enjoys playing with her little relatives
Kylie Minogue has revealed her breast cancer treatment may have cost her the chance to have biological children. Celebrating her fifth year free of the disease, the glamourous pop star told the Mail on Sunday that she has accepted her chances of conceiving naturally are not good.
“You have to accept the good and bad in life and I have to be honest and accept that after everything I’ve been through – the treatment for breast cancer – I may not actually be able to conceive,” Kylie said.
Kylie also revealed how she dotes on her nieces and nephew,Dannii’s little boy Ethan, to indulge her maternal side. “I would absolutely love to have children,” Kylie said. “But I just don’t think it’s going to happen and that’s OK because I’m well and I can enjoy the children around me.”
Kylie didn’t mention her age as a factor in her conception chances even though we’ve recently been reminded that the best age to conceive is before 35. Conceiving in your 40s, even with the help of IVF, can be very difficult.
Another celebrity who’s been talking babies this week is Nicole Kidman, who conceived her first baby at 40. She has recently used a surrogate to have a second at 43, though she has not revealed why surrogacy was necessary.
But she has lifted the lid on why the pregnancy was kept a secret. “I wanted to be able to tell everyone because I was so excited about her,” Nicole said, going on to explain she and husband Keith Urban’s decision to keep quiet to protect everyone involved in the surrogacy.
