Peaches has taken to Twitter to share cute snaps of her baby son
New mum Peaches Geldof has taken to Twitter to share cute snaps of baby son Astala and has opened up for the first time about his difficult birth in an interview with Hello! magazine.
Sir Bob Geldof’s daughter, who gave birth to her first child in April, shared snaps of her baby son on her Twitter page.
“First pics of my gorgeous baby boy in this weeks Hello! mag at home in me and Tom's new house, heres a cute one! x” she wrote.
The 23-year-old reveal her fear when Astala was rushed to intensive care just minutes after he was delivering by c-section. It had become apparent, while musician fiancé Thomas Cohen cut the umbilical cord, that her baby son was having breathing difficulties.
“It was the most terrifying experience, to have our tiny baby whisked away like that,” Peaches said to Hello! magazine.
“I was yearning for that skin-to-skin contact I’d waited so long for and not to be able to hold him and nurse him and comfort him was so upsetting,” the new mum explained.
“He had a lack of something called surfactant, which made it a struggle for him to breathe. He was in intensive care for a few days,” Peaches said.
“What happened to Astala is quite common in babies born by caesarean,” said Peaches. “To be able to finally hold him and take in all his little features was wonderful,” she added.
Peaches also revealed how her dad, Sir Bob Geldof, has reacted to her newborn son. “He’s besotted with Astala because he’s his first grandchild but especially, I think, because he’s the first boy in the family,” she said.
Peaches was spotted last week with Thomas and Astala enjoying the sunshine in a park near her London home.
Peaches tweeted: “Finally- sun! Out with Parpy, @tomfromscum and baby who is looking very fetching in his beige cashmere romper in the sling x”.
Seems like Peaches is taking motherhood in her stride, and here at TB HQ we’re loving the cute pics!
