Hi all,
Now thinking about contraception as Doc has advised about implant, which is the rods inserted in your arm just under the skin - bit sketchy on details though.
Has anyone else used it or know of others who have?
Thanks Maddie

Hi Maddie , i had it after my son was born 3 years ago , lets just say it didnt suit me at all . all the side affects you could get i got , fat , spotty lost my hair , mood swings you name it i got it, before i fell pregnant i was on the microgina 30 which was fantastic i never had any problems , plus getting the implannon in was fine but getting it out was a nightmare because the implannon fell to the bottom of my arm which left me with a nice scar on my arm...
it all depends how much hormones your body could take , i have tried everything and the only thing that really works for ME is the microgina 30, but it's like anything everyone is different good look, you will prob get someone saying that the implannon is fantastic and they have had no dramas with it .....
take care x x x x

Maddie, like Lyndsey says everyone is different and the only way youl really know if the implants for you is to try it out.
I am considering using contraceptive patch after the baby, could try that if implant doesnt suit you.

hi maddie, i tried private emailing you earlier but it keeps getting a permenant failure.

just wanted to tell you my friend had that implant and it didnt suit her either. she had tremendous mood swings (and she is a moody cow anyway lol) but she was doing someones hair when her plant broke through her skin! it was a fitting error and is very rare apparently. maybe its just one of those trial and error things.

hope u and tara are well.xxxxxxx

Hi all,
Thanks for your comments - Lyndsey what is the microgina 30? Iv'e never heard of that one. I'm not sure what to do now as i don't need to get any fatter and i do suffer sometimes with my skin even though i am now 35 which the docs have said is hormonal - don't really want to get any worse!!!
Problem is hubby is only 31 so they won't do snip - have tried deprovera and the pill and didn't get on with either - i def don't want the coil, and we don't want any more kids, as we now have one of each.
Anyone else got any suggestions apart from never having sex again .......

Maddie, could be worth trying the pill again, there are loads now with different levels of hormones in them. Seasonale is taken for 84 days at a time so has the benefit of you only having to put up with period pain every 3 months.
If you dont find a hormone based contraceptive that works could always go back to barrier methods like condom or diaphragm.

Hi Maddie, Microgina 30 is one of the lowest hormone level contraceptive pill that the doctor could recommend for me , you might have to do a few test drives for a few months to find the best contraceptive for you ?????

Hope it works out for you ,
On the microgina after coming off my pill to try for another baby i was off for 3 weeks and fell pregnant again !!!so baby Bobbi will be due 19th aug .

Hi all
Thanks for your help - i had the implant put in today after having a long chat with my GP - he is going to closely monitor the affects and if either of us are concerned he will take it out. I weighed up all the options and decided to go for it as it seemed to be best for me and my lifestyle.

Hi Maddie,
I had the implant inserted last June 2006 after having my second child on the 30th March 2006. I did have side effects such as a sore head in the afternoons, that settled and I would have had occasions of heavy bleeding maybe for 10 days, then no bleeding for 6 weeks right up until a few months ago, I actually went back to the clinic where the Doctor told me it took about a year for the implant to settle and as explained already to me it had side effects, she offered to take it out, but I still would not have it removed, it is i think the best contraceptive available obviously if you are not planning to have children for a few years!! I feel that my family is now complete and I don't plan to have any further pregnancies, but I'm too young to be sterialised and I just thought this was the best option for me. It seems to have settled down now. I would not change it at all, I had previously taken the pill for around 7 years. Everyone is different and is affected differently, some people say that they do not bleed at all!! I think you made a good choice and I don't think that you will look back!!

Cheers Katy,
I have had a few side effects such as nausea and headaches as well - I also bled for 3 weeks solid - i went back to GP as felt really lousy - thought i would never get nausea as had really bad sickness with Tara so really disappointed.GP has put me on the Loestrin pill as well as the implant to try and get it settled - been taking that a week and i do feel slightly better so am hoping as you mentioned it just needs to settle down!
