hey debbie and other early bird mums!! i'm now officially a december mummy too. baby was born 0250 on the 28th nov (4 days early) weighing 6lb 12.

Labour was short for a first baby, contractions started really mildly at 1800, at 2130 put the tens machine on then at 2300 called the hospital. left home at 0000, examined by MW at hospital at 0045 and was already 9cm dilated, went straight to delivery room, had gas and air, used the birth pool for a bit but mw not happy with his hbeat as cord loosely round neck so had to get out of pool and waddle over to the bed - not easy!!! he was born at 0250 but it was a bit too quick really as I did tear and have to have an episiotomy. So after a great natural birth I ended up in theatre with a general anastetic getting stitched up - what a !!!!

But we're feeling good, came out of hospital yesterday and the mw has been to see us at home today and all is looking well. I'm breastfeeding and my milk has come in so my boobs are huge!!! he's hardly lost any of his birth weight and is really content so far.

only trouble is he still has no name!!! we're leaning towards matthew but haven't got a middle name picked yet, we've just taken to calling him sausage!!

will try and add photo,

Good Luck to everyone still waiting!!

Debbie, how are you and Callie doing??

Hi Lauren

Isn't it great that it's finally over and we have our babies. You had a very short labour for 1st time, well done you. It's a shame that you ended up in theatre for stitches. Glad the breastfeeding is going well, i feel quite guilty for not breastfeeding cos my milk came in a few days ago and i have sooo much of it i could open my own dairy, such a waste!!

My birth experience was great (for a hospital birth anyway). Got to hospital around 02:30 and got a tens machine but then contractions slowed down, mw examined me and i was only 4 cm dilated so thought it was going to be a long one. MW then broke my fore waters at 03:00 and the contractions started coming real fast and painful, thought i was gonna give birth on the loo at one point. Was fully dilated at 04:40 and it took another 45 mins to push her out (god was that hard work, thought she was never gonna come out that way). After her head was delivered her heart rate dropped and they had to get the rest of her out quick cos cord was round her neck. Thankfully all was fine and all 9lb 2oz of her arrived at 05:26 on 24th Nov, just had gas and air for pain relief and no stitches!! We were allowed home at 10:30 am which was great. Oh yeah i also had a student mw with me (as well as trained mw) for the whole labour and birth and she was absolutely fantastic (had allways said i would prefer not to have a student).

It's so hard picking a name, we had a few but still couldn't decide so got the other kids to pick. We got her registered today so no chance of changing it now, anyway Callie really suits her. She is such a good baby so far and only wakes once during the night, she is gorgeous and i can't stop looking at her.

Debbie, I'm glad you had a good birth too though I'm totally jealous that you got away with no stitches after a 9lb 2 baby!!

Breastfeeding still going okay at the mo, Lansinoh cream is fab!! Night/day are meaningless  though so I think I fed 4 times last night, it was only his 2nd night at home so hopefully that will settle down soon. We've decided on Matthew Christopher for his name, he seems too tiny for such a big name though!!

Having fun with nappies, neither hubby nor I has any experience at all so we've had a few sticky/wet mishaps but it's all good fun!

Lauren you may be jealous about me having no stitches but i'm hoping and praying that huge baby hasn't ruined my sex life forever, lol. Just as well my OH isn't small in that department .

As with the nappy changing i'm on my 3rd and have still had a few mishaps, she has a habit of peeing just after i have taken away dirty nappy so have to change all her clothes cos she's soaked them! She is also pooing for Britain, bottle fed babies usually only poo once a day but she goes after every bottle, i have started changing her after her bottle now instead of before cos we were getting through so many nappies a day.

I don't envy you feeding 4 times during the night!! I'm sure he will settle down soon and you will get some sort of routine going.

Debra

I am having a nightmare to!!

OH was being sick all last night, 2 year old has a bad cold and Callie has diarrhoea!! Only got 4 hours sleep last night as Callie just couldn't settle bless her. Mw came out to check her and isn't worried about her for now but said she will come back tomorrow to check she's not any worse.

Other than that everything is fine, Callie is 9 days old today it's gone so quick, the last 9 days of being pregnant felt like an eternity.

Only 22 more sleeps til xmas

Well i've got no idea how you two do it!! i've got 1 baby and a really helpful husband and it's still chaos!!!!!!!! the house looks like a bomb has hit it, there's a huge pile of washing up/washing and i've had no more than a few hours sleep a night for a week. i get a few hours kip in the day too but it's just not the same as a good night's sleep. hubby has been great at getting up in the night but i'm breastfeeding so there's a limit to what he can do!!

On a brighter note we had our first day out today, we went to see family and then went to town to buy more nursing bra's - the one i got when i was 38 weeks is too small already but i've worn it so can't even return it - bugger!! Then we went for coffee and he slept all the way through which was really great. It was really good to get out and all the old ladies in M&S were cooing over him which was cute.

Debra, are you boob or bottle feeding?? 4 or 5 hrs at night sounds dreamy.

Can't really believe he's a week old already. MW came yesterday and he's already gained his birth weight back plus 3 1/2 oz so he's 6lb 15 1/2 oz.

We're going to get him registered tomorrow and MIL is coming round to do the washing up, well she thinks she's coming to visit but she's actually got chores - hehe

Hope everyone's OH's are feeling better and the kids all get better soon too,

Hi all

Lauren it will get easier, honest. It's been pretty calm here so far but OH goes back to work on Saturday so i'm sure it will be chaos here from then on.

I went to town on my own on Tuesday with Callie, thought i'd get a bit of practice with just her first before taking the whole tribe to town, not looking forward to that .

Had to take Callie to the docs yesterday cos she still has diarrhoea, she is fine but if no better tomorrow i have to take her back again! I've changed her milk to see if it makes a difference but hasn't so far, she doesn't have a temperature or anything so i don't know what it is. MW weighed her weds and she's lost 5oz so now weighs 8lb 13oz.
