Hi Em

My names Elaine and im 33.  I tested positive last Friday, and i was a week late at that point..so i am guessing that i will also be due in November.

I was so shocked i took two more tests, both of which came up positive too!  Its my first as well, so i know exactly how you are feeling

It was one hell of a shock for me any my husband as we have been trying for 2 1/2 years and have recently been put on the IVF waiting llist, due to start treatment around April time....so this was not what we expected at all! ha ha.

How you feeling at the mo? I am due to see my doc on Friday to confirm, and then i guess i will get a date for my scan/ due date.  At the mo i am elated, but slightly worried at the same time.

I am starting to feel rather tired during the afternoons this week, and my boobs are hurting a bit, but no sickness at all...which is weird...coz i kind of thought i would be. I hope this isnt a bad sign

anyhow..congrats...its good to be in touch with someone who is going through the same at the same time xx

24/02/2010 at 10:03

Lennie! Welcome and Congratulations!!! so pleased for you after the long long wait you have had x

Ive taken 4 tests! and part of me is still in disbelief! excited scared and excited all at the same time  cant stop smiling!

Feeling hmmm - Im tired alot anyway but shattered doesnt quite describe how tired I am! not really sleeping to well; had a night of nightmares last night (I get them when im anxious ), BB's are hurting more in a full kind of way - seem to be getting in the way more! ... Heartburn - my friend rennies! although I was just reading that fizzy water can help so going to go out at lunch and buy a big bottle; and my thermostat doesnt seem to work - one minute Im boiling and tearing off clothes - the next Im shivering (like now with a hot water bottle on my knee!).  not sick though but normal for this to kick in at about week 6 - Im hoping not to get this too bad!

My doctor didnt do anything - so dont expect alot! apparently this is normal and the fun bit starts at the scan appointment where we will get more information than we know what to do with...Let me know how your appointment goes x

Im so pleased you have come and joined me hopefully we will get lots more novemeber ladies and we can all support each other through this!

Have you told anybody yet? xxx

Hi

I promised my fella i wouldnt tell anyone, but the day i found out i was so shocked i went to my friends house to help my confirm it...so i knew it wasnt just me hallucinating! ha ha...so she knows but noone else.

Another thing ive had for the last day or so is headaches. I dont know if this is because of my pregnancy or becasue i have given up caffeine..i like my cups of tea..but i read it was bad in early stages...so im now on decaff (just to be on the safe side)

Im with you on the temperature changes too..ive been up and down, cold one minute and hot the next.

Crossing my fingers that neither of us get bad sickness. I have had friends who have suffered, but i have also had friends who didnt really get it at all...so we wait and see! ha ha.

Ill be in touch again soon...really chuffed ive got someone i can speak openly to...especially as im not supposed ot be telling anyone! ha ha.

xx

lol! Will be our  I will keep  ...oh yeah Monday I had the beginings of a migraine - started to loose sight in my right eye - paracetamol being the only thing you can take seemed to take it away before it got too bad - Im quite lucky really as I get an Aura before migraine (like pins and needles in my face/arms/hands/tounge!) so gives me a chance to stop it before it happens...

Yup fx (fingers crossed) this is a no ms thread!

Speak to you soon lovely xxx

OMG ... how big are these puppies gonna get??? already too big for my sports bra! ...think I need a shopping trip at the weekend! Feeling really good today very happy  (if not a little sore!) eating little and often, but slept through last night - no nightmares!  Elaine hope you are feeling well? xx

Hiya Em

Well i went to my doc appointment this morning and you were right in what you said...not much happened and it was fairly uneventfuly. Infact i came away a bit deflated!

He wasnt very helpful and even though i told him that tomorrow i am week 6, he put on the medication exempt form that i was due at teh end of Nov...which i work out to be completely incorrect. I work out it is the beginning of Nov.  I told him this and all he said was.....well that date isnt really all that important for this form anyway!  How rude is that? Its important to me!

Anyhow, he passed me a telephone number to ring a midwife to make a pre-appointment with them, so i have rung them and have an appointment next wed morning at our local hospital.  I am hoping that the response i get from them is more helpful and positive.  I was given the impression that i will be given screening and blood tests at this appointment...so i will let you know when i have been

As for the 'puppies'...mine seem to have grown somewhat this week too and are slightly tender...they arent all that massive anyhow thankfully so its just kinda nice to have a bit more cleavage! ha ha.

Still no sickness though...this crossing my fingers malarky must be working so far!

Ill be in touch soon

got one question though..i am still wearing my undewired bras and am getting conflicting messages as to whether or not this is ok.  Some women have continued with them whilst others have swopped to non underwired ones...do you know anything about this?  Am i ok to use the ones im using?

I dont want to go out and buy loads of new ones if i dont need to for the time being

26/02/2010 at 12:15

Hi Elaine x

hmmm Ive heard lots about dr's being really unsupportive - mine said the next time I will see any body will be at the end of April! so sounds like yours had a little bit more about him than mine! Yes please let me know how that goes - ...I may ring and ask to speak to the nurse who did my smear a few weeks ago she was really nice and helpful...

Im utterly shattered Im  constantly - I cant stop!!!

re bra's - my friend (who is also pregnant) is a breast feeding support person - and she has said that the bones in the bras can damage the milk ducts so to get a maternity bra (and get properly measured) .... think Im going to go out at the weekend as this sports bra is busting at the seems!!

Sorry reply was brief - had a client waiting for me ...I meant to say - My doctor hasn't even given me the medication exempt form!! Im not to happy ....

I dont think they realise how important that date is to us - yes we know it will probably change BUT that is NOT the point!

I do hope that they are more supportive at your next visit xxx

lol! just rang my surgery and was told i cant talk to the nurse! hmmm ... maybe I need to look for a family planning centre ....

Hi em see ur site is a little quiet just now just wanted to say another congratulations to you both and that if use have any questions about anything then give me a shout i will try help the best that i can xx

 Its just so exciting!!!

thanks Jen x Im sure we will do! xx
26/02/2010 at 16:24

Im not sure where you are in the country Em, but i am up north in the East Riding.  Apparently in my town you have to go to your docs where he then refers you to the midwives at the hospital...seems like the whole going to the doc thing is a waste of time if you ask me (especially when he didnt actually do anything apart from give me a form...which he filled out wrong).  Maybe they jsut do it differently where you are.

I am guessing that at my appointment on Wed i will be given some info, have my bloods done and then sent away until the scan date..which wont be for a good 5/6 weeks...

Let me know if you do get to see anyone beforehand.  It would be good to at least get some reassurance and information etc.  I will of course let you know what happens on Wed once i have been.

Have a nice weekend xx  Im going out with some friends tonight and im bursting to tell them....cant believe i have to keep 'mum' for another 5 weeks at least.....

Speak to you soon

Jen - thanks for your note....no doubt i will have plenty to ask once things start progressing some more.   You are right though...exciting times ahead!! Cant wait to start picking things out and getting ready for this new arrival!!!
