umbilical ties - Birth

hi there can anyone help?

I am really interested in finding some info on umbilical cord ties. a few weeks ago i watched one of the many pregnancy prog out there and instead of using a plastic clamp the new mum used coloured cotton thread, i think its a really nice idea but i cant find any info on this!!

has anyone got any ideas??

i think i watched the same programm & im sure the midwife was independant, maybe you could get in touch with the independent midwives society, they do have a website, just type it in google
