Had 2 nights where Iona slept through but she's so hard to settle and is now waking up again in the night. We are off on holiday next sat for a week. I'm going to try and get more of a routine when we get back. I'm wondering if she's just not getting enough nap time in the day. She isn't one to just drop off unless in motion or having a cuddle. If anything is going on she stays awake. Think she needs me to remember naps better and to actively encourage them. think I maytry an early afternoon nap actually in her cot and try and get competant and setttling her then so it gets better on a night time. It's much harder on a night time as I'm tired. It's ok saying (the books etc)stand there and give reassurance and don't pick them up but she just keeps crying LOUDER and louder until I do. If I try and stroke her or put a hand on her chest she desperatly trys to get my finger in her mouth to suck on..this does quieten her but I very rerley let her do it as I think it will only store up problems for later? If I let her do that she'll start needing it everynight and during the night!!! Don't want to start a dummy as I'll be plugging it in all night. Moan moan moan-sorry!

Charlene start putting moses basket into cot can help or put him in therefor naps. I started putting Iona in for a few mins before or after morning feed and nappy-put in toys so she could get used to it. We have a humphry mobile which is nice but is a wind up so doesn't last long. You can buy ones that don't hang over the baby but are more to the side (on an angle) so baby just turns head which is actually easier for them to see. so I wish I'd baught this sort really.

hi ladies...

have had nearly a week now of little  man early to bed..woohoo. i have been putting james in the cot during the day when i am pottering about and he has nodded off quite well. Am really apprehensive about putting him in for a night cos i dont want to have him away from me....know he will be ok but ????? plus dont want to be up and down all night checking him..(know i will and being a bit selfish) feel really spoilt having uninterrupted sleep..its great.

he loves his mobile, but like you say Eowyn, they dont last very long!!

Iona settled quicker last night (by 9.30) but woke for a feed at 2.20 and 6 mind you we then slept until 9.30 so not too bad! Is anyone elses little un travelling on their backs yet? If so are you having any problems with this in the cot? Iona travels up it then gets stuck when she gets to end either against end or turns and get stuck against side (ie she can't hump no further). Well tis is ok if it happens on a morning but last night she woke at 2.2o because she'd turned so her head is up against the side (in her sleep) but was rolling her head side to side and banged it. Her cot book she'd got a bit tangled in and I think this would normally have protected her head a bit. This am the same thing happened but the cot book helped protect her this time. I don't know whether to get bumper? Risk of sufforcating apparently? But don't want her to bang her head....she rolls it side to side quite vigerously...but would I need one at either end seeing as she's travelling from one end to the other? Help advice needed!

Thanks love Eowyn and Iona (15wks)

I've baught a tummy time bumper that can go in cot along one long side as she tends to always get stuck the same way it doesn't stop her getting stuck but at least she is not banging her head. Mind you this morning she got stuck at the end with her face against the bars...she was trying to chew them. She's not even crawling yet and she's a handful. I've just had to put her on the floor as she was sat onsofa with me and keeps throwing herself so she can be on her back. Oh well she's going to be my own private gym at least I don't have to pay to get fit.

That's great news Sarah about James sleeping. I had one night this week when she slept through wish it would happen more frequently. We're going on hols tommorrow for a week so I may not get on here before then. Hope you all have a good week. Schools out so I expect half of you now have your hands full!

Have a happy hippy hoppy week

hey everyone

mr man has been asleep for ages but has been up pretty much since 6 this morning!!  I cant believe the past 2nights he has been getting up at 2.30am!! and then at 6 and thnks its play time OH has been doing the 2.30am feeds as I am better at staying awake from really early in the morning!!!  its so warm I am putting it down to that! nt that Im complaining about the heat as we only have it here until monday Im told!  haha

Eowyn - Ciaran loves travelling on his back!  when I get up during the night for his feed he has managed to wriggle out of his blankets and half way up the cotbed.  the same with his moses basket during the day.  Which I am still using as I dont like him being upstairs where I cant see him...  sounds strange butI am so used to him being downstairs when I am.....  I bought a cot bumper and mine works wonders.  loads of padding.

We had a bbq tonight.  well late afternoon.  Just me the OH and a friend.  but has been amazing!  have even had a beer!!  woohoo!!

Happy birthday for yesterday Jenna!!!    mines coming up soon...  roll on august and I also will be 23!  going out  into nottingham the weekend before as its midweek this yr and we have a wedding the week after.  my friend and I share the same birthday so we are celebrating together this yr!!  wooohhoooo!!!

nothing much else to fill in though - I havent been dressing Ciaran - just in an all in one as I think he is really feeling the warmth.

Love to all.

hi ladies....

wel overduel my little man is in a fab routine at bedtime! he is so sleepy by half seven and sleeps til half six in his cot, but last night he had a feed at six and fell asleep andwoke up at ....wait for it............half eight.....................this morning!!! and he didnt even scream his head off for a feed!! Think he must be having a growing spurt??? Sleeps very little in the day so that prob adds to his tiredness.

Weather is lovely today, so we are painting the garden wall, its long overdue and hopefully it will be great when its done....

Belated birthday wishes Jenna 23!!??? i wish!! just think by the time you are my age Lewis will be 15!! hahahahaha

Wow all these wriggling babies, Ella stays put pretty much, she goes straight off to sleep and i'm waking her in the morning at 8 if she hasn't woken before, other wise she is still up at 10 in the evening and I want to try and establish a no babies up past 8.30 routine, that way I get a bit of time to myself, (its a nice idea but so far failing miserably) as soon as Ella goes to sleep I end up rushing around doing all the little jobs that didn't get done during the day. I can't remember the last time I saw the news or corrie or any TV programme from one end to the other!!

OH driving me mental, I could swing for him, he is so totally useless in the house I have better luck training the dog to do stuff. And if he drops his dirty washing next to the washing bin instead of in it one more time you will see me make headline news for murder. Why do little things like that irritate me so much these days?

Weather is absolutly gorgeous, ella is liking the heat and going around in just a nappy most of the time, just as well as she is dribbling for England and I think I can see the top of a tooth under her gum, she is biting everything she can get in her mouth the dog almost lost his tail because he lay too close yesterday!!

We are now on 2 solid meals a day breakfast and afternoon tea, she has baby cereal at breakfast and fruit at teatime, she is now eating banana after initially refusing it, she seems to like them if they are just ripe but is not so keen if they are very ripe, think they must have too strong a taste then. We tried papaya again today but she is spitting it everywhere so i'll leave it for a week and try again, am going to start on more savory stuff this week, like carrot and potato and parsnip.

Can't belive she is 5 months old already, OH can he is not taking to having a baby again at all well, he is so negative always complaining about all the things we can't do anymore because of her, I feel like that about him LOL.

Gotta go she's having a nap so need to do a few jobs.

Hi all,

Lewis is rolling over and shuffling around on his back when you leave him down on his play mat and go out of the room you really cant quess where he'ss be when you come back in! Have to make sure nothing is laying around you wouldnt want him getting hold of he shoves everything into his mouth straiight away. He's such a wee dote.

Gill i understand with oh i just get so wound up that iam doing stuff while he's on his backside watching tv i do kinda wish sometimes i was on my own.

Iam missing not getting away this year would love to go somewhere i know its lovely weather at the moment but aint the same as going away we could afford it but oh wouldnt want to go unless it was america or sumwhere as he says he's fed up with europe.

Hope everyone is well

Ok is everyone's babies moving around? Ella just doesn't do anything, she kicks about but doesn't move? she dosen't really like being on her play mat she will only tollerate it in small doses, she prefers to be stood up in the jumperoo, or sat in bouncing chair with toy bar, if I hold her under her arms she steps, so i have a feeling we may bypass the whole crawling thing.

Its soooooo hot today, I want a beach!! Ella has been so miserable today, I have just given her calpol out of desperation, as I can't stop her crying, she is so tired and is trying to stuff her whole hand into her mouth, she isn't hungry so it must be teeth i suppose. She wouldn't even fall asleep in the car. I wish I could find the OFF button. Lol.

Better go the crying has started again, I just want to finish building the garden table but she is determined I will fail at the one task I set myself for today.

He's so warm i cant do anything to cool him down or the house all windows and doors are open and he's just got a thin vest on he spent the day with just nappy but i didntwant to put him down to sleep with nothing on although i think he wouldnt mind!

Hope everyone is well

hi ladies...

james has spent the last couple of days in his vest....looking like steptoe!! watching us paint the walls in the garden. Felt guilty today so took him to my mums for a couple of hours so that we could get on with it. and now that it looks nice it will rain for weeks just you watch!!

was a bit naughty tonight and took him to my friends instead of putting him to bed..but wish that i hadn't as he was a grumpy man and obviously just wanted to be in bed and it was only 7 oclock!! shouldn't knock it can't have it all ways can i...early one night late the next cos it suits me???? James has just been wearing a vest and grobag for bed and that seems to suit him.

off to bed hope that you are all ok,  x x

Gill James isn't a wriggly bum...he pretty much stays put! even in bed in his grobag, will shuffle on the changing table but thats about it!!

Hi all,

Lewis has been rolling over as a while but now he's bringing hs legs beneath him and trying to move! Looks like the makings of crawling? He has been reaching all milestones early, today in b&q the lady serving us was watching him as he's trying to sit up in the pram which he manages for a short while when i said he's 17 wks today she just said he's been here before i cant believe the amount of people that has said this Davy and i have talked about it as well its just the way he is and doing things early the hv said the same a good few wks ago we have wee chats with lewis asking who was he! We arent into any weird stuff its just the feeling people seem to get from him.

Time for bed i think Lewis wasnt too well last night woke up i thought he needed a drink he wouldnt take any water them he was sick, sick a few times then just dry retching which was very sore on him and his wee crys made me want to cry although he seemed to cover quickly by 11am he wastaking ull bottle smiling and generaly well.

Hope everyone is well

Hi Jenna Poor Lewis...wonder what caused that??

we are all well, not too stressed about what the lil man can and can't do...no point all babies are different and i think sometimes you wish their little lives away looking for the next milestone.....(just my opinion) and i want to cherish every day as i know will be last time until i get my grandchildren..hahahahahaha, gosh i feel old!!

Off to bed very quiet on here and James is still sleeping really well, sad cos now have to put the moses basket away seeing as he likes his room and his cotbed!!

sleep well x x x sarah and James x

Hi all

Ella went for her first official photographs  yesterday, she liked it for the first couple of pictures then decided the camera was to be avoided at all costs, she was just trying to save her mum money, if they couldn't get too many pictures I won't be tempted to buy too many!!! OH will have a fit if he finds out how much they cost but in my opinion well worth getting a framed collection of her first year done, so it can be displayed, i'm having them all done in black n white, to match the portraits I had done of my other children at my wedding. I can then just display 2 pictures frames instead of ending up with a dining room that looks like a  gallery. I have a thing about cluttered walls, well clutter in general, i'm a bit of a tidy freek according to OH, where as he is just a slob!!

Ella is almost rolling over, she rolls onto her side a bit further everyday, one day she'll find herself face down and then there will be misery because she still hates her tummy.

Have had to give her some water and orange juice today as she is constipated, think all the solids ganged up on her digestive system, she's having fruit for tea so tomorrow's nappies will be interesting

Have been looking online for cotbeds as she keeps flinging her arms out in her crib and waking herself up, think she needs more space, have found a saplings one with cool flow mattress for £159.00 is that the cheapest anyone has seen for a cotbed and good mattress? I don't want to spend a lot but also want something a bit sturdy that will be a bed as well. I made a huge mistake with the buggy so want to get this one right. The only draw back is it doesn't have drop sides, but I don't remember using the drop side on my cot before as once you were holding a sleeping baby it was too difficult to work the mecanism. Oh decisions, decisions.

Best fly Ela is lettin me know it is dinner time NOW!!

hiya all, been an absolute age since I came on. Don't seem to find the time. Hope everyone is well. Happy Belated Birthday Jenna! I was 23 when I had Ethan and he was 6 this week. Time flies!

Olivia is doing well, she weighed 16lb this week (15wk+2days) and has learned to roll over! We're also sleeping thru, have done for about 2-3 weeks now. We have the odd night where she wakes but as a rule she stays in her cotbed. Gill, we paid £95 for the cotbed and £89 for the mattress. We've got one of those cool flow things too where the top zips off for you to wash it. Still not started weaning yet, but think we'll get there over the next few weeks. She's got a bad cough at the minute so the plan is to start once that's disappeared.

Well better go to bed, got Ethan's swim party tomorrow. Hopefully now the kids are off school I'll get chance to get on a bit more. Facebook takes up too much of my time when I do get a spare minute.

Glad to hear Ciaran's well and you too Charlene.

Have a nice holiday Eowyn, hope the weather improves for you! Love Em xxxx

hiya ladies...

well its a year and a day since i found i that i was pg!! can't believe it.

OH and i went to a wedding last nighton our own...big bro's GF babysat was lovely ..the bride looked lovely...well i suppose they may as well be like the rest of us..can't be happy all their lives...hahahaha. Little man went down at 8 and was up at 8.15 this morning so was great. but did text whilst we were out just to check all ok..good job really cos we were 30 miles away and couldnt have got home in a hurry...lol

we have started weaning he loves food and watches you eat even when he has a full belly!! think thats why he is sleeping better too. this morning he had an 8 oz bootle and porridge and his little mouth was going for it when i was eating my toast!!!

right off to get dressed i am sitting tonight..easy night though and my turn for a lie in tomorow!

Gill i never used the drop side on my old cot either. Was lucky with mine as one of the girls gave it to me and its beautiful.

Hi Emma nice to see you on here i have put some pics oF James on facebook
