Hi all,

Davy and i went out for the first time last night my mum looked after Lewis over night, he was god thank goodness we went to a harley davidson hog and bog rally and stayed over in a hotel it was lovely i thought i would get a nice lay in turned out i coudnt get to sleep as i kept thinking i heard lewis then couldnt sleep when it was completly silent ie no lewis heavy breathing then in the morning we got up early for breakfastthen went home, all well it was nice all the same we're thinking on if we can afford it going and staying over night now and then use the hotel spa swimming pool etc. I missed Lewis like mad but as i say was nice wee break. Lewis has been rolling over for a good while and when he does he'll play for so long then get grumpy so your forever in and out turning him over again ok when iam playing with him but tiring when trying to do soemthing ahh well id rather play with Lewis any way!

Hope everyone is well

Hi I'm back from hols. I've been on a couple of times and been able to read messages but not been able to leave a message?! Weird. Oh well seems ok today. Went to a weaning party yesterday w................. This message just disappeared as I was writing it then came back up a couple of secs later....going to try posting it so you all know I'm still here then I'll continue if it works..

Bye for  now love

Good that worked. As I was saying weaning party yesterday done by health visitors..not very informative really but it was nice to meen other mums and I've arranged to meet up with 2 mums next week at the childrens clinic...you get baby weighed there but you can go and not have them weighed there's toys out for babies to play with and it's nice to chat to others.

I was reading a book in which 3 gifts or wishes were being given to a baby and it got me to thinking what I wish for Iona in her life. If you could give your child 3 gifts what would they be?and be realisitic here and choose something concreate (YES A MILLION POUNDS WOULD BE NICE BUT HOW YOU GOING TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN?) Obviously being happy would be one but it's quite a huge non specificgoal. I've tried to think about things I could directly influence now through my own behaviour and through teaching Iona the skills to acheive the wish. I want things that will hopefully help Iona throughout her life. Once you've chosen think about how you can practically give your child the best chance of having this gift.

I think being able to make and keep good friends would be one of the things I'd choose. I am going to be a good friend to my friends and make an effort to meet other mothers so Iona can beging to make friends now and through watching me will learn how to be a good friend. I've been surprised how little my friends children have firends round to play..I suppose they have siblings and I was an only child so I had loads of play dates but I think it's important to be able to get on with other people whose family rules and wys of doing things are different from yours and you don't get that with siblings. I haven't decided the other 2 wishes yet. I thought this was such a good idea as its helping me focus on what I want for Iona and what's going to be important for us to focus on as a family. I'd love to know what you all wiah for your little ones and how you can help them acheive these things. (obviously don't if you don't want to!) Hope you are all well. Iona is rolling on to both sides and is happier on her tummy now for short times but she's waking up still in the night (grrrr).

Eowyn, I know what my wishes would be for my children, HEALTH (so important to teach them how to stay healthy and respect their bodies) LOVE  (By loving them and teaching them how to deal with their emotions and feelings and to respect others hopefully they will be able to form steady stable loving relationships with their own partners and children) CONTENTMENT (being able to appreciate the things they have got rather than chasing after unobtainable goals). I think that if they had these three things in their life they would also be happy. who wouldn't be with good health, loving partners and children and contentment with their life.

I tried to post on here yesterday but it lost it, also kept telling me the sight was trying to alter cookie settings on my computer?? or something like that not the most computer literate person so had no idea what it was on about?

Gotta go Ella is awake, she's cat napping today I wish she would sleep for an hour at a time so I could get anything done. But can't complain because she sleeps 12 at night.

Hi Eowyn and Gill...nice to see you back on here!

Eowyn thats a lovely thought...for James i wish him very similar Gill....Health....I already know that we have some problems ahead but hopefully once he is sorted he will have the best of health....Happiness, so important to be happy in all that you do work, relationships,...and as Gil said Contentment...so many people are chasing things that they will never have/never be and its so sad. I am so happy with my "lot" and just wish that so many others would be the same...look at what you have rather than what you haven't got!

Gill i am the same as you James cat naps during the day and just as you start to do anything he wakes and needs attention but i feel so guilty cos he sleeps so well at night...last night he went to bed at 8 and got up this morning at 9.30!!!

was no good to me as i had been babysitting and didnt get in til 1.30 so i was having a lie in anyway!!!lol

hope you had a great hol Eowyn x

Hi Gill and Sarah and anyone else reading this. Where is everyone? Hope you are all ok.

Last night we went to a brill party but paid for it later as Iona woke every hour from 3 and was pretty unsettled before that. The previouse 2 nights haven't been great either, although not as bad as last night! Iona will sometimes sleep for 1 or 2 hours in the day but right now I wish she would sleep better on a night. Shje used to be great don't know what's happened. She's been waking twice in the night 2 and 4.3o ish or later for about a month.  Great wishes both of you. Yes contentment and health I think would be great ones. I was talking to someone about how life feels much slower when your a child. He was sayuing this was because everything feels so new as a child that they really concentrate on things live in the here and now were we as adults think alot about whats happened (what did so and so mean yesterday when she said that, did I remember to send that bill last week) and whats going to happen (what am I going to wear to that wedding next month, can I loose weight by then?, How are we going to fit everyone in the house for christmas, must go to shops on the way to playgroup and then phone aunty....... and so on). Children on the other hand live much more in the here and now soaking up what's happening and so time goes much slower! Sorry I'm blabbing on.

Hope you've all had a good weekend. How is James now Sarah what's happening?

i know exactly what you mean about time and kids..a year to a child is a lifetime!! ...very deep and meaningful....lol

you poor thing lacking sleep we are so used to James sleeping now that i dont know what we would do if he reverted back to his old ways!! he usually has last feed at 8 ish and is up at about 8 and has 8 oz and porridge for breakfast.

had a lovely weekend, was babysitting on saturday for the agency and hubby has been constructing a hidey hole for the wheelie bins in the "yarden"...(not posh enough, big enough to be a garden, but too posh to be a yard!! ) i did sunday lunch for my bro's g/f as he had gone to wembley to watch united so busy busy busy!

counting down to going to Devon next week wanted to go on Tuesday but little man has his second jab on Tuesday afternoon so may wait til wednesday and see how he raects to the jab? we are staying at Salcombe with my best friend Phil, who hopefully is going to visist us today as she is saying goodbye to her ex house mate who is off to Australia for a while..can't wait to see her as she hasnt seen the little man, in fact dont think that i saw her whilst i was PG ???, usually only manage to get together once a year so looking forward to today!!

right off to bath my boy.....who has actually gone to sleep..lazy boy

Eowyn, james has had 2 testosterone jabs...has one to go... i think that his winky has grown???? but then i think thats cos i want it to??? but he will need surgery that they will do next year, its hopefull that if they open his scrotum his winky will be in there...that its still connected to his body??? if so, they will release it...if not then they will make it bigger......future chippendale???

make the mostt of everyday ladies cos i dont know where they are going?? i put away the moses basket on saturday...was so sad...i so would love another baby... its going so quick

Hi Sarah, I know what you mean about putting stuff away. I put some of Ionas 0-3 month stuff away and I felt so sentimental. I felt really sad! I too would like another baby one day. James is your first isn't he? Iona slept well last night. I was aware she woke a couple of times but she got herself back off. I'd been worried hat she was getting out of being able to get herself off which would be a nightmare. She woke for a feed at 5.3o and then slept until 10! I feel much better for it. I had a period whilst on hol which was a surprise as I'm still fully breastfeeding! Hope you have a brill day with your friend.

Where is everyone...is anyone reading but not speaking...if so please say hi .

No Eowyn James is my 2nd...i have DD who is 14, but i am loving it so much this time round...think its partly to do with my age and more importantly because my relatonship is totally solid this time round..we have been togeter 11 yrs and James is DH's first baby. He is an awesome daddy, so supportive and he loves his new role.

so glad you managed to have a good nights sleep, i didnt, my fault just couldnt sleep so got up at 7 and managed to have my breakfast before james got up at 8. Hubby is having a well earned lie in!!

right off to make a brew and had better hoover before my bud arrives.. i have spoken to charlene and Emma on facebook and have seen Sarah on there too...

Sarah I used to live near Salcombe, we lived in a little village called Modbury, near Kingsbridge, our treat when cash got tight (bringing up 2 children on student grant and overdraft) was a drive to salcombe for the famous Salcombe dairy ice cream, I could eat a bucket of the stuff now. Let me know if the little factory shop is still there. I love Salcombe its such a pretty place, If I won the lottery thats where I would choose to live.

Well Ella was so miserable I put her in her bed about an hour and a half ago and she is still asleep! obviously staying up all day has caught up on her, I keep telling her she is supposed to sleep for 14 hours in 24 at her age, and should be having an afternoon nap of at least an hour, she just laughs at me and dribbles.

I am not sure what I am doing with her solids I can't remember what I did with the others, she is having breakfast and bottle when she wakes at 7ish then bottle at 11 then bottle at 3 then dinner at 5 then bottle before bed, she isn't interested in real food at lunch time, should I give her less bottle so she will eat lunch or just leave her until she is getting hungry at lunch. I can't ask HV because she will be horrified that she is on any solids let alone having the variety and amount of stuff she does, she eats half a baby food jar size pot of savory food then the same again of fruit! she is a little piggy, we have got over the banana thing now its apple and blueberry that she has a thing for. she's a funny little thing, she blows rasberries with food she doesn't like, she can spray it over quite a distance!! Its a good way to stop you trying to give her anymore of it.

must go she's awake now and trying to dimantle her cot mobile by the sounds of it.

Hope you are all well, we'll miss you next week Sarah, although I'm waiting to see what the weather is going to do, if its going to be nice in cornwall we will be going down to see my mum, we've been waiting for a week for it to chear up, I'm not going down if its going to be wet. I want to be able to sit on the beach with a sun shade not an umbrella!

Hi all,

Lewis was weighed and had his 3rd injection last wednesday he was 20lb 6oz and 68cm long he's such a big boy i get sad in a way when i see how much and how fast he's growing. He's taken to solids vey well loves broccoli carrots apple and pear i gave him porridge today liked it too. I dont want to give him too much too quick but hv says its fine as his weight it right for his height so not over weight just sounds more when you say he's only 19wks(2morrow) iam going to local college 2morrow to enquire about going to university to do teaching i'll have to do a levels first or access to university course but i want to get all the info to see if we could manage money wise.

Hope everyone is well

I ams so lucky to have a best friend who lives in such a nice place...i would definitely move there if i won the lottery...no fear perhaps we could be neighbours....lol! i have been going there for 14 yrs asphil moved when G was a baby. there is still an icecream shop on the corner...not sure about factory...not an ice cream lover!!!

Been up for awhile as Iona didn't wake for her feed but I did. Mind you she wasn't in bed until 11 as she wouldn't settle when I put her to bed at 8.30 and seemed wide awake. Couldn't face hours trying to get her to sleep so brought her back down. I can hear on the sound system coughing so she may be about to wake. Gill I wouldn't worry about her not having lunch. Milk is still the most important thing for her to be having so I wouldn't cut down on it just to get her to eat more. I'm no expert it's just I've read that in several places and the hv said same thing at weaning party. Think it's for the 1st year they say this. Sounds like Ella is doing great. Jenna, Iona is going to have her 3rd injection on thursday and I'm dreading it. You wouldn't think I used to be a nurse and gave people injections myself! I know it's for her own good but it's the look of horror and shock I find hard. My mum is coming with me so that is something. What age group are you wanting to teach Jenna? I don't know how old you are Jenna but I think sometimes to get on a course they will take into consideration life experience with mature studentsrather than qualifications. Might be wrong though hope the college were helpful. What subject would you like to teach? Sorry I forgot about your daughter Sarah....it's easy to get peoples details confused on here and I never feel confident trying to remember! Meeting up with a couple of mums and there babies this am at baby clinic..met them at weaning party. Feel a bit nervouse but at least the babies help things along when chatting to knew people. Have a good day..Iona is beginig to squack for a feed. Love Eowyn

Hi Charlene, Great to hear from you. Glad you got on it would have been sad if you'd suddenly just disappeared! How are you?

I went to child clinic and only one of the mums turned up who I''d arranged to meet. We got on quite well and have swopped numbers and we're going to meet again at the clinic next week. Had a nice morning just chatting with her. Its tipping it down here!

Hello charlene, i wondered where you had got to.

Just when i thought Ella was in a routine, it all changed yesterday, she had that afternoon nap, then fell asleep again at 5.30 then didn't go to bed till gone 9. She got up at 8.30 today went back to sleep at 10? has been really miserable and has gone back to sleep again now?

I think her teeth are starting to come through, she has white marks along the bottom of her gums, but her back bottom tooth is really noticable under her gum she puts everything back there to chew on and makes herself gag, she stuffs a handful of muslin square into her mouth and chews it till its all soggy. I don't want to give her calpol for the sake of it, but I do wonder if she is really suffering and thats why she is so grouchy, Zoe seemed to get all her teeth together, we had a couple of months of hell with her then it was all over, I wonder if Ella is going to be the same.

Sarah I wish I had a friend that lived in Salcombe, Its lovely having family and freinds in Falmouth as we get free holidays and although thats where I grew up I still love the South Hams better, I'd move back to that area without a backwards glance. We lived on a sheep farm in a pre-fab bungalow, what a life on a studant grant. ha ha I wish I could turn back time, such a beautiful peaceful place to live.

Well better go make use of this time I've got while Ella is asleep.

hi guys, so nice to see you on here charlene...

DD has been having her hair cut today and higlighted for the first time...she looks so grown up...her hair was down to her bottom and now it is layeredto her shoulders...so grown up!....

Yes Gill i know how lucky i am to have Phil in Salcombe...if i win the lottery too we could be neighbours!! hahaha gotta do it first...i dont do the lottery, just spend the money  in my dreams!!

right off for a glass of wine..and watching secret millionaire...i wish!!

hugs and kisses to u all x x x

Show/hide user stats

Sarah that makes two of us not buying the lottery ticket but still dreaming of how to spend the money. I actually wouldn't want to win Millions, just enough to be able to afford a modest house somewhere pretty with a view of the sea would be amazing.

Ella has grown!! I know they all do, but she seems to have grown overnight!!!? I put her babygrow on tonight and her toes are in the end of it, i'm sure they wern't last night, she has been having much more sleep so it must be another growth spurt, she was asleep by 7.30 this evening even after having had a long nap this afternoon. I can't believe she is growing out of 3-6 months clothes already, I know she's almost 6 months but I thought she was still small for her age because of being early, she's clearly catching up, must make the effort and take her to be weighed this week.

Cricky just seen the time no wonder i'm yawning,

Gill and Ella
