Hi ladies, I thought it was just me who had enough of their OH - mine did night feeds when he was on paternity leave but has not done any since - as Amir is still feeding every 2hrs it just feels Im constantly up and down out of bed.  OH thinks cause you are on maternity leave you are on holiday.  He really annoyed me yesterday as he said can you take Amir downstairs Im so tired I want a lie in !!!!!!!!!!!! - I know he is working alot of overtime to pay the bills but Im tired too.  He had the cheek to say why don't you play with him more - maybe because Im knackered.  I too Katie have to nag him to do housework as well.  Katie where do you live as I live in Chesterfield not far from Meadowhall too.

A question has everyones period started - Amir will be 8weeks on Friday and mine has started yet - and Im still loosing a discharge - probably too much info but curious.

Take care all of you

Afternoon all!

Hmm sounds like a can of wup ass needs to be opened to kick some OH's backsides! My OH  helps out as much as he can before he goes to work on an evening and he even feeds Olivia during the early hours. Why should we be the ones that has to everything let the men do some of the hard work. let them swap lives for 24 hours then they'll know just how hard it is. Come on crack those whips abd whip them into shape!!!

I woke up yesterday morning and heard a click in my neck .........  My neck was stuck with me looking right. had to wake oh using my left leg. i mustve looked like i was playing twister in bed.  lol!!!! struggled looking after Olivia on the night but i had to get on with it.

I was talking to a neighbour ine the street the other week and she told me her son gad real probs pooing. in the end after a few days without passing any poos they went to a+e and the doc had to put a tablet up his bottom to get things moving. lets say he was cleared of any blockage within 24 hours, sorry tmi!

How often do you's see your hv? I've only seen mine just before being discharged from the mw. she was suppose to come out and see us 3 weeks ago but she had cold and hgad to cancel. No other contact has been made ever since.

well im off to make lunch, hope everyone is ok and had a good weekend.

Hi all,

Got to comment on the OH issue. You all can't be expected to do everything alone. They are 50% responsible for their baby and can't just be fathers when it suits them. My OH is brilliant and really helpful but I made it very clear right at the start that I would have it no other way!!! Remind them that you need to rest at the weekends too for example. Being a new mum is a full time job and it doesn't run till 5pm when you can put your feet up. Hand the lazy buggers the baby and tell them to get on with it.

Ok off my soap box now.

sorry lou was typing the same time as you.  not sure when periods should start. im still loosing a little bit of blood but still b/f full time.  Got my post natal check up with the doc tomorrow so Im going to check then.

Oh forgot to say Olivia has her jab tomorrow afternoon. Was everyone elses babies ok afterwards and should I get some Calpol just in case???

Karen xxxx

Hi gals,

Karen - my friend was given calpol when she took her baby for jabs, he needed it and cried all day! the doc said to her not to worry about him having temperature or rashes, as long as the baby can clasp your finger (awake or asleep) he's ok. I'm dreading taking Osian on 24th! You should have seen HV by now - I've seen my 3 times and Osian is 6 weeks old, get on that phone!

Period issue - i stopped bleeding at 3 weeks then a week later bled for 3 days (maybe period??? had no period pains) then a week later had one day where my discharge (god i hate that word) was streaked with blood, so think i've just had one period so far.

OH issue - my OH does so much but he's not working at the mo, i hope it continues! He does all the cooking and at least alf the washing. He does the midnight feed too so i go to bed at 10 (or earlier!) and get to sleep until the 4am feed (if the baby sleeps that long!)

HV did edinburgh test this morning and i am borderline PND too (can't remember who else was borderline) she asked me what i wanted her to do... she could come more often as trained in counselling/refer me to the dr/just put a note on my file/ring in about a month to see how i'm doing.  I opted for the last option, i thought i'd answered the questions fairly positively (apart from the crying question when i lied and said sometimes instead of most of the time!!!) i think it is stressfull being a new mum and you do worry more as you have a whole new person to worry about?! She was lovely about Osian and said how he'd grown and was lovely and alert which was great to hear. Took him to a drop in clinic today to get him weighed and the little tubby weighs 11lb 11 at 6 weeks! going up nicely!!!

hugs to all, Catherine. xxxxxxxxxx

Evening all-

Yes, I agree that OH's should be helping out- I, like Sarah, am lucky to have a great husband, who bathes Sophie every night and does Lucy's 8pm cluster feed while I soak in the bath! He also takes Sophie every Sat morning to the shops and play park so I can get dressed and relax while Lucy sleeps. However, I must kind of stick up for the men not helping as much cos I don't want those poor mummies feeling worse- I think it doesn't come naturally for them, esp first time round, as they haven't carried the baby for 9 months or felt the kicks etc. Don't get me wrong, I think they need a wee kick, but a gentle one possibly as maybe they just need a pointer in the right direction. Maybe they feel you are doing so well that they don't know where to begin? I seem to remember I hogged Sophie for the first few days- she was mine and no-one else was touching her! However, one night we were chatting and it transpired that my husband wanted to do more, but felt he didn't want to 'take' her from me as I was so possessive and as my hormones were still all over the place, he didn't want to create a barney!!

What I am saying is, ask for help, as men can't read our minds and perhaps just need a push in the right direction? If that fails, then by all means kick some serious ass!!! Good luck, girls.....

Catherine, great weight!!! Lucy has her immunisations on Wed so will see how much more she has piled on too!!

Karen- I would def have Calpol available, just in case, as they all react differently. I needed it with Soph, so have it ready for Lucy!

Lou-havent had my period yet, well i dont think i have, bled for five and a half weeks, but nothing since. Kevin was 6 weeks yesterday.

Karen-hv has visited once a week for the past four weeks, she started coming just after the midwifes visits. today was the last one i think, next time i see her is in a fortnight when i get my post natal check n Kevin gets his jags. i would fone the surgery Karen as it sounds as if u have "slipped thru the net" !!

Catherine-it was myself also borderline pnd. had hv out again today, asking again about gp referral etc, still said no as i would rather get better myself if at all possible. had a good weekend tho n didn't cry too much!!

Today i've been out getting bits and pieces for the christening which is 26th july, that was good fun, the wee bits add up n cost a fortune tho!! hv came this morning and Kevin now weighs 10lbs 14oz, which i am pleased with as he never stops feeding off me, so i know it is not without purpose!

take care

Hi Everyone,

I'm back at work now so i'll be able to come on here more often. Did write on here this morning but it hasn't submitted it.  Was so sad leaving shannon to come to work. She's still so tiny, i felt really quilty leaving her.

Feel sorry for those of you with lazy buggers for oh's! I've been quite lucky with my oh, he wants to changer her nappy and feed her as much as he can. he took her off of me this morning so that i could get ready for work and she wouldn't stop smiling at him.

HV stopped coming about 4 weeks ago, now have to take baby to clinic to get weighed. Glad they don't come anymore, they're really nosy asking questions about things that aren't anything to do with baby. They even asked oh why his mum split up with her ex, even tho they split up 30 years ago before she met his dad!

Shannon's stil being sick, she's now on 3 different medicines which don't seem to be working, but thats probably cos she spits them out! The dr's don't think its a problem as long as she keeps putting on weight. She's now 10lb 1oz at 9 weeks.

Not sure when periods start again. I had heavy bleeding until 6 weeks and then i went on the pill so it should start again soon. I did read that it can take a while for them to start, so wont get worried just yet.

I stopped bleeding after 3 weeks and started my period 2 week later.

Oliver weighs 11lb 14oz now at 8 weeks. I too only take him to the clinic every 2 weeks. His christening is on 14th Sept. End July was too early with us been away and Aug everyone is on holiday! What is Kevin wearing? I'm stuck for ideas!

Lou I live in Barnsley. My friend lives in Chesterfield with her soon to be husband. They live in Clowne.

Torie - sending you a big hug as if I had to go back to work now I'd be devastated! (((())))

Going to have a toasted tea cake with a cup of tea now. Yum......

Forgot to say, Oliver has his jabs on Thurs. I'm dreading it but heard they give you calpol too. Fingers crossed he's OK!

torie..back at work already?! why did you decide to go back so soon? you dont have to answer that. are you full time? who looks after your little one? good luck wont take you long to get back into it im sure and i bet you'll love getting home shannon waiting for you with big big cuddles and smiles saved up all day for her mummy.

really want to get emi weighed today but joshua still asleep and weigh in is only for another hour!

hello all,

i thought it was just me worrying abot ohs lack of help... my oh works mon-fri 8til5 and has weekends off- when he gets home he does play with hannah but has a prob with feeding he says he is not comfortable,, i have brought up the subject one night and i ended up feeling even worse................................ he said he feels he has to prove himself to me and that really upset me as he is a brill dad i just wish he had more enthusaium to do more, being a full time mum is a million times harder than i thought..

does anyone feel like they dont get the same attention from their oh than they did before?? does that sound stupid????????????????????????

love kim and hannah

Hi everyone,

Thomas is 4 weeks today, I took him to the clinic drop in as our HV only come out for the first appointment then we have to go to the clinic. He is 10lb 1 1/2 oz. Not sure how this lies on the chart as the woman didn't plot it properly.

Has anyone given their little ones water. One midwife told me not to then a HV told me I should to help him go to the loo. Sometimes he goes a bit purple straining.

As for OH's mine is quite good I would say. He just needs a bit of a push in the right direction. He did his first night feeds at the weekend just passed after some nagging. He doesnt do housework but does cook dinner sometimes. He's alright with nappies and loves being able to feed Thomas even if he does pass him back to me to wind him.I'm not sure who said that sometimes dads worry they will break the baby but thats my view too. For sure my OH is on a learning curve (as I am) he worries so much but  have every confidence in him. You definately need a break every now and then. You will just burn yourself out otherwise.

Karen definately give Drs/Clinic a call.

Right well Thomas is asleep so Im going to get a bit of housework done.

Hope everyone else is ok.

I didn't really have much choice about going back to work so early. OH was doing a part time job in the mornings, he started it 18 months ago and it was only meant to be temporary. His company decided a few weeks ago that they didn't need him anymore. It made more sense for me to go back to work as i earn more and oh's self employed so he's  looking after the baby a few days and his mum's going to have ger for the rest of the week.  Really hating being back, getting paranoid that shannons  going to forget who i am!

Laura - i've given shannon water because she was constipated. I only gace her 1oz of cool boiled water at a time but it seemed to do the trick. My mum mentionned trying it as well, guess if she used to give me it when i was young it wont do any harm.

Shannon had her jabs last week, and the nurses said to give her calpol if she got a temperature that didn't go. Luckily she was ok, don't really want to give her any more medicines if i can help it, she gets wind that she can't bring up. Does anyone know if there's any natural ways of bringing wind up?

Hi all

Well we’ve just come back from the doctors. Olivia was great with her jabs, she only cried as she got pricked but only because she was fast asleep! She did scream her lungs out when she got weighed. 2 weeks ago she was 11lbs 7 and now she is 12lbs10! We couldn’t believe it! Doctor gave us a huge bottle of paracetamol (smells of cherries!) plus a syringe! Fingers crossed she’ll be ok, she’s watching Baby Tv on sky at the mo and seems to be fine. Daddy was baby talking to her and she’s responding back which is really cute!  OH is off to work now but I have the car ready incase I need to take her out for a ride.

I go to the baby clinic every fortnight to get Olivia weighed but its not the same HV we see. I handed in my Edinburgh test thing but not heard anything back from HV so she mustn’t be worried. I’ll give her a call tomorrow just to ask how often I should be seeing her.  I thought it the norm not to see HV as often like with the MWs. I should have asked you’s sooner!

We decided for me not to go back on the pill as I was on it for something like 11 years so its the good old condoms for us. I  just hope there aren’t any accidents.......

Torie- cant believe that you’re back to work so soon, I’ve not decided when to go back might not even go back as I love being a mum – wishful thinking!  We had problems with winding in the early days and tried Infacol, Gripe Water and Colief. No real result from Infacol and Gripe Water but Colief was recommended by the MW, this just made Olivia projectile vomit so much that we ended up in A&E  as I was worried with the amount of milk that was being brought back up. That was when we decided to stop using remedies and bring up the wind naturally. We now are patting and rubbing her back for 10 mins after every feed. Its working as she’s not as bad with the wind now. I tend to sit her up on my knee and pat and rub her back to get results, if not put her on my shoulder and do the same thing.  Hope this helps.

Lou- You poor thing! I was hoping Amir would have improved slightly with his feeds.  Olivia is still going every 2 hours during the day but on a night she goes from 11pm till 2,3 or 4 then again at 7am then after every 2 hours.  You should ring your HV tomorrow with the way you’re feeling.  Hugs to you xxxxxx

Laura – I know you should give water to babies who are on formula. I remember my little sister having water when she was on formula and that’s going back 15 years!  I still remember the times when she was constipated as she was in so much pain from straining.

Sounds like all the babies are putting on the weight nicely. Well done Mummies! Olivia looks nothing like the early days, she has the biggest chubby cheeks which look so cute! I will post a pic on Think Baby FB page next.

Anyways gotta go Cars the film in on sky.

oh no olivia screams out in pain everytime she moves her right leg. diven her a dose of paracetemol i just hope it  works.

Gosh  - there's a lot i've missed since yesterday lol! I went to Dr today and got depot injection or contraception (didn't think they'd let me have it again ) i love it - one jab in the bum every 12 weeks and bingo, from the moment you have your jab your safe and you don't have any periods, bonus! i don't get any side affects. It's safe for BF too.

Jennifer - how you feeling about being borderline? i was upset and felt a bit like i was a failure?! however, like you i want to see if i get better by myself before anything else. Will give it a month!

Karen - hope olivia gets better and her leg is ok????
