Hi everyone, hope your all enjoying the sunshine, but its just too hot at night.
I think fingers crossed we may have cracked it with Amir sleeping, he now sleeps approx 6hrs at night.
Torie gosh I don't know how you keep going. We are going on a sun holiday in October to Filey can't wait.
HV came today she weighed Amir and he weighs 15lb 7ounz and said he is now heading towards obese, what can you do when the poor mite is hungry he does have water but still wants milk. HV made an appointment for me to see GP next week about my Post natal D, i really didn't want to but I just can't see me getting rid of it.
So pleased that Amir's starting to sleep more Lou, it's such a nice feeling to wake up having a proper nights sleep, it might help with pnd - if you're not so tired and stressed you might start to feel better.
Can't believe how hot it was last night, our house is normally really hot all the time, so when its hot outside it's really unbearable inside- end up sweating and sitting in front of the fans, think that's one thing i'm not gonna miss when we move.
I don't know how i keep going, i'm shattered all the time. I've got such big bags under my eyes and keep forgetting to put makeup on so i look awful!
Had row with OH last night about his mother. She suddenly seems to think that Shannon's under weight and it's due to one of the medicines she's on- fair enough the gaviscon makes her food thicker and it takes her longer to get through it, but we've told the dr's that and they don't think its a problem. So when she was looking after her yesterday she didn't give her any medicine - i went mad when he told me. I had to go to a netball meeting last night and when i was out the baby was so sick, oh said he hadn't seem her that bad for ages - and it was because mil hadn't given her her medicines. And to top it off instead of calling me to come home and help clear it up he called his mum! He couldn't do it cos he's not allowed to bend over. I only found out when i got home, i was only at a meeting, it wasn't important and i was closer to home then his mum was.
Sorry another morning rant, oh is really starting to get me down. I've always known he was a mummy's boy, but he knows the baby has to have her medicine, he just didn't want to tell her that she was wrong for not giving it too her.
Torie mother in laws are horrible people..i hate mine actually i have decided to forget that she's alive as she never comes to see us or calls (she's only seen joshua twice in 7 months and emi twice since she was born)so from now on i wash my hands of her and as far as im concerned my children only have one nanny! harse i know but we dont need her we have our own family my OH's dad is great (they are seperated) and of course my parents are fab!
sorry i haven't posted for a while, ive been coming on a reading your post but never really have anything interesting to say so dont bother.
well im off on holiday on friday morning...packing is a nightmare but i cant wait!!!!!
Evening girls- lucky ladies who are off on holiday...very jealous, like Catherine!
We have Lucy's baptism this Sunday and I am starting to get nervous. When we had Soph baptised it was in the local village church where hubby and I married and I knew most folk from going there, but this is a new church as we moved here a couple of years ago so no-one knows me or my hubby or our families, so it will be strange. It is a bigger church and bigger area and although I have been a few times, I don't really know ANYONE! Yikes, please wish me luck....I know it is what we are doing that matters, but I am not great with being part of the centre of attention. However, I DID manage to buy a beautiful Monsoon dress in the sale and although it was my normal pre-preg size, I still have a stone to lose. This weight just ain't shifting, so am resigning myself to pouring myself into clothes for the forseeable future! Have a huge food and alcohol shop to do this weekend to cater for all- should be fun and emotional and uplifting etc etc......
Hope you are all doing well- it is so much quieter since we had our babies!!!
Good luck Claire - i am sure you will all have a fabulous day! My weight isn't shifting either but i'm not trying to do anything about it!! Being a mummy takes up all my thoughts and energy at the mo, it's so consuming and i love it - who cares about the jelly belly when you have a gorgeous babba??? I'm sure after 6 months i will hit the slimming world tho! It is a pain having no clothes that fit tho
Am off to the docs at 9:30 - Osian has a rash it's all raised and little red spots. he started with it on his arms a few days ago and i thought it might be a reaction to sun cream which i then stopped using. however, yesterday when i went to get him weighed (14lb 2!!!!) and i stripped him off i saw it had spread everywhere! i am not unduly worried as i know babies do get rashes, it could be the heat or a reaction to his jabs last week but the HV said i should get him checked out.
The stepdaughters (17) boyfriend is coming to stay this weekend - i am not looking forward to it at all..... he seems proud to tell people that he got expelled from college (OMG!) i have avoided meeting him so far so i guess it's time to bite the bullet. As she's 18 in a few weeks her dad said they can sleep in the same room - when me and my hubby got together (23 & 32) we still slept in separate rooms at my mums - eeeek!
anyway must go and feed my son before trip to docs. Love to all. xxxx
I wish we were having another holiday.....i'm greedy! We go to Benidorm in Oct tho.
Well, finally booked my wedding. We're doing it at Gretna Green in March. It's about time, been together 9years!
Catherine, I started seeing my OH when I was 14 and at 17 we were stopping at each others house in the same room. My Mum was really against it at first but I think she thought better to know where we were than not! I'm sure your stepdaughter sees him as a bad boy but will soon get bored when he can't take her any where!
Oliver is stopping at his Nannans tonight. It's his first night sleeping out and I am petrified! I feel sick just thinking about it but I know the first time is always the hardest. We decided we're going for a meal and to the pictures. Will be picking him up as soon as day breaks!
Thanks Katie - we hoped that too but he's just passed his driving test and bought a car! lol eeek!
Congrats on the wedding! how exciting! If you want to buy a wedding dress my first one is going........ booked wedding year and a half in advance..... got preggers and was 7 months on my big day. ended up hiring maternity wedding dress after already buying my dream dress! Doh! best 'mistake' i ever made!
Catherine what did the doctors say hope little one is ok.
Congratulations Katie on the Wedding and also taking little one to Benidorm in October - I can only manage Filey !!!
Well I had my first night out last night with the girls - really enjoyed it but was a bit tipsy after a couple of glasses of wine. I came home and OH was playing with Amir - he was wide awake. I know it was only 11pm but he is now finally is some sort of routine in bed by 9pm. Amir finally went to sleep at 12.30am and woke again at 3am and 5.30am and 7.30am (not good with a headache) - today he has been dozing most of the day. Im sorry to rant but why do i bother with routines.
Not been on a for a little while. Been a death in the family recently and went to funeral on Tues. Had to travel 2.5 hours to Edinburgh with the little one, surpisingly she was fine throughout. OH stayed at church as my reli's werent keen on the idea of a baby going to the cemetry. She slept throughout the whole day as she had caught daddy's cold. Now she has caught his bloody cough so she has been clingy all day and night. She's been her smiley self when Ive played with her so thats a plus! Have to look for a 5 door car as I was breaking my back getting the car seat in and out of the car.
Well Katie - CONGRATS!!!!! How exciting stuff, I loved organising our weddin, even though it was a bit stressful at times. I started seeing my Husband when I was 18 and got married 10 years later! People were bugging us to get married so I dug my heals in even more and delayed the whole thing. LOL!!!
Claire - Good luck with the baptisim tomorrow. Olivia has her later this month and Im dreading it! Im not religious but am agreeing to it to keep OH and both sets of grandparents happy.
Louise- My OH doesnt understand the word routine! When he's off work on a Wednesday night the whole routine is thrown out of the window and Olivia goes to bed late. Men! How can babies be obese?? My HV tells me that as long as olivia is putting on the weight there is nothing to worry about. Im sure she is at least 14lbs now.
Torie - I hate my MIL too! She thinks she's right all the time. how is Shannon?? Called OH a mummy's boy the other night as he had been working my ticket all day. Wasnt too pleased when I called him that though!
All this talk on holidays is making me very jealous! Dont think we're going anywhere as we're getting a new kitchen fitted (finally!) Suppose it'll be next year, possibly to Hong Kong to see OH's side of the family. Get good seats on the plane with plenty of leg room. He he he The only thing Im dreading is how Olivia will be during the flight, a screamer throughout the flight is what Im dreading.
No real update on Olivia apart from that she sleeps for 12 hours and only stirring for her feeds. She doesnt even wake up when im changing her nappy! When she wants to wake up she makes sure you're awake too! Such a little character! She's got her 3 month jabs next week. OH DEAR!!!!!
Anyways must go as Olivia needs a shot of calpol. Such fun trying to get her take the stuff. it all ends up down her neck than down her throat!
dr said Osians rash looks like a reaction to something but is nothing to worry about? it doesn't seem to be getting and better but he seems pleasant in himself. If no improvement next fri, might consider taking him back. I think it could be the suncream i put on him (banana boat tear free for babies) hope he's not going to be one of those that is sensitive to everything poor little mite. Dr said it could be reaction to his jabs last week but she wasn't worried so hey ho. Oian has a cold and cough too bless him so got some saline nose drops to squeeze in his nostrils before a feed. He doesn't mind having things shoved up his nose - bizarre little man!
Osian has been going between 7 - 10 hours between feeds over night. Then the 5am feed came back for 2 nights then last night he went a whopping 12 and a half hours!!!!! Total fluke! he must have been tired out from the asda shop.
Karen - do you use a mini syringe to give calpol? don't know if it's the syringe which makes giving osian calpol easy or the fact he's a hungry monster and will eat anything that goes in!!!!
Going to meet up with all my girls from uni on tues next week, we've nearly all got babies so it'll be a noisy day! lol. looking forward to it.
Catherine - Yup I use a syringe for the calpol. still messy though as Olivia spits it out! WOW great times inbetween feeds. olivia is now 3-4 hours in between feeds. Hmm I shall have to get some nasal drops to as poor Olivia is just so stuffed up and is finding it difficult to breath. Tried sucking it out (sorry tmi!) but it takes me a long time to pluck up the courage to go any where near her nose. I know I shouldnt mind being a mum and all but it's just UGH!
OO I forgot to mention. Olivia no longer sucks on a dummy! Result! However she sucks on her thumb when she needs to sleep!
Claire - hope baptism went alright, think we're going to do ours in church where oh got christened, so all his family and friends will be there - but my family live all over the place and might find it difficult to get there.
I've been trying to lose the weight but it doesn't seem to be shifting. I tried weight watchers but I didn't lose any weight. Gonna start walking to walk to work when i move - will probably take about 45 mins so that should help.
Catherine - hope Osian's rash gets better soon. probably is just the sun cream,be bit of a coincidence if it started at same time as you started using it.
Congratulations Katie - i love weddings, my sister's getting married next year and i'm looking forward to it already. Will be so nice for you having oliver there as well. Can't beleive you're going to benidorm. I'm panicking about going to minehead! My mum wants us to go to florida next year with her, but i'm worried about being on a plane for so long. I hate flying as it is - have to have tablets to calm me down - don't think i'd manage looking after shannon as well would be so worried!
Can't believe Osian & Olivia are sleeping so long. Shannon manages about 7/8 hours at night, but she doesn't sleep during the day. Think that might be why she doesn't put weight on quickly - cos she's such a fidget. she'll lay on her playmat kicking and playing all day. if we're lucky she has 30 mins nap.
Better do bit of work now, been in an hour and haven't done anything yet.
Torie
Glad it's not just me that's having problems with Mil. Shannon's better now thanks Karen, we're making sure that mil gives her the medicine. Think she felt a bit guilty when oh told her how sick the baby had been.
Well we've been to see the dr this morning for Olivia for her cough. Was given paracetamol and drops for her stuffy nose. She seems a bit better today was awake at 6am this morning and wouldnt sleep till 8! we're so tired!
Torie - So glad that Shannon is better. Olivia only has cat naps during the day but after her bath in the evening (9ish) still lying on the changing mat she's already sucking her thumb to sleep. Ive still got a stone to loose before Im back to normal but would love to loose 2 stones. OH said I looked like I was back to my normal body shape but when I highlighted the jelly belly, he said 'oh yeah you do'. Waiting till I stop BF firstly then Im going to be pounding the streets. Been on the Wii Fit a few times just for fun but cant wait to break out in a sweat. Tried the running game on it but my bosoms were heavy and i felt uncomfy.
HV is coming next week to discuss weaning. Cant believe it, where has the time gone???
Just catching up on all the posts, can't believe the weather today how depressing.
Amir is 12weeks on Friday and has his next injections next week - He is doing well for him now sleeps 6hrs at night. Last night he must have had a horrible nightmare as he woke up screaming poor thing.
Taking him to be weighed this afternoon - hope she doesn't say hes heading for obese again.
Olivia is feeling lots better and not had calpol since last night. Now Ive got the damn cold. Runny nose and feeling pants!
Katie- We're going to be trying put Olivia in her own bed for the naps during the day, if she settles ok then she'll go sleeping in there during the nights too. I just love her sleeping in the middle of us. This morning was funny as she ended up sleeping diagonally with her feet towards OH's face. She was stirring for a feet and ended up kicking OH in the face waking him up! LOL!!
Lou - How's Amir's weight?? Sleeping well isnt he?!
3 month jabs next Tues, dreading it as I'll be going to the clinic by myself and hope she'll be ok and not put up a fight when I get her in the car seat.
Hi there, took Amir to be weighed yesterday he now weighs 16Llb 6ounz - HV still said hes heading for obese, but you can't starve them. He will be 3months on Friday and think he may need to be weaned soon. OH said his Aunty weaned her kids at a month - why am I not suprised on that bloody in laws. Thank god there not is this country.
Karen - Amir has his 3month jab on Tuesday aswell and I will be going alone. I will think of you.
I would like to put Amir in his own room soon - OH says he has to stay in our room till 6months old, he doesn't realise hes getting too big for mosses basket now.
Amir slept from 11.30pm till 6am this is bliss for me !!!
Shannon's got her jabs in 2 weeks, when she'll be 15 weeks - the surgery's really busy so she's had to wait. She was alright after last lot so hopefully she'll be ok this time.
shannon's been in her own room since we bought her home from the hospital, she doesn't seem to mind being on her own. We've got a monitor with a camera so that we can see her. Gonna be weird when we move, our new flats only got 1 bedroom so we're going to be doing the reverse of everyone, we're going to have to get used to sleeping with her in our room.
Katie - how do you manage to get oliver asleep by 7? shannon wont sleep, she's always wide awake until about 9pm.
Had bit of a scare yesterday. Shannon had to go to the hospital with a burn on her head. Oh had left the room to go to the toilet, when he came back in shannon had managed to push herself of her playmat backwards and put her head on hot water pipe by the radiator. We don't know how she managed it, her mat was about a foot away from the pipe. The dr's seem to think that it will heel in a few weeks without any scars. And shannon doesn't seem bothered by it, she's enjoying being spoilt by everyone. OH feels terrible, he's convinced social services will come round and accuse him of being a bad parent.
Oh gosh, Torie, must have been scary for you. Hope Shannon is ok now, poor wee soul! You just can't assume anything with babies, eh?
Baptism was fab- great weather, all kiddies in the garden and food and wine flowing. Lucy slept through the whole service and Sophie was quite well-behaved, although kept talking through the prayers ('that's the minister, mummy!'). Really nice but slightly stressful as we did all catering ourselves this time!!
We put Lucy-lou into her room just over a week ago and she hasn't noticed- do her last feed as usual at 10.30pm and she sleeps through til after 7.30am. Like Shannon, Lucy is either awake til then on my lap or in her bouncy chair, or sound asleep but still on my lap. I like keeping her with me in the evening as it is the only time I really get to spend a good amount of time with her as she kind of gets pushed to the side during Sophie's waking hours! Katie, I bet if you fed Oliver a last 'dream feed' (as they call it) at 10-11pm, then he would prob not even be up in the night!! He sounds totally sorted, wee chap!!
Like most of you, I have the MIL from hell. Hubby's parents split many years ago and his dad's second wife is great, but his mum is awful. She didn't even acknowledge Lucy's baptism as she reckons you only need to get the first child baptised and make a fuss of that one!!!!! Silly woman, she even slated his dad for not going to Sophie's one (he actually stepped back so she could go without any stress for us) so by rights she should be slated for not even acknowledging Lucy's!!
Anyway, thanks to all of you for your kind messages- the day was fantastic and am quite sad it is all over!
Lucy is 13 weeks now and had her second set of jags today- weighs 16lb 5oz and is sound asleep upstairs- so far so good, no Calpol yet.....HV said she is very big and so I asked if she was concerned and she said absolutely not!! She said she is just a very healthy, happy and content 'wee' girl. I can't believe how big she is! Much bigger than Soph was, but she is incredibly cuddly and just loves to snuggle into you, esp in bed in the morning!
Must go and stop waffling- haven't been on in ages so had lots to catch up on. Good to hear all your news, ladies, take care.
