Just looked at pics of Olivia - she looks just like her Dadddy!!!! Very cute. And you look really well, you look to have lost loads of weight. That Wii fit must be paying off
Catherine and Katie - Olivia's leg isnt as bad now but only since Ive applied an ice pack wrapped in a muslin cloth against her leg. Its helping but Im dreading later on in the early hours. She's been asleep since 6pm and only woken up for her feeds. Bless! I wonder how long the discomfort lasts for??
Katie - Thanks for saying Ive lost loads of weight - its just cleverly disguised! ha ha lol! Ive hardly been on the Wii Fit since Olivia has been born. Still eating sweet stuff like cakes but ive started on the fruit again. Still got another stone to come off but hoping I can loose 2 instead. Everyone we know says she looks like daddy but she def has my temperament! Poor Daddy he's got 2 of us to deal with. lol!
Seen doc today for 8 week check but she only asked if I was ok and decided on type of contraception. I wasnt weighed nor was my blood pressure checked. Should there have been more??
Hi there, gosh I hope Olivia will be ok - Im dreading taking Amir next week for his - I did buy some calpol just in case.
I spoke to HV today about Amir feeding all the time and she just said oh maybe it's a growth spurt - hes 8weeks on Friday surely he should have had that by now.
Lou - I was told about the 6 week growth spurt and how babe would be feeding more frequently. 6 weeks came and went and there was nothing different with her feeding habits. Even more confused!! Olivia only feeds for 10 mins each time she feeds but I always wonder if she should be staying longer on the boob as she gets older??? Is Amir going for any longer during the evening or is it still every 2 hours? Olivia goes for longer in the early hours so Im able to get some sleep. Can OH help with the late night feeds with a bottle?? My OH does the late night shift but I still wake up whilst he's feeding.
I got a perscription from the doc when she asked if we had any paracetomol and I said we were just about to get some. Its a big bottle Ive got too! Olivia has been zonked out since 6pm and still is. Im in the living room with the tv on and she hasnt stirred other than for her feeds. I am applying the ice pack on her leg every now and again. So now when she moves her right leg she isnt screaming out in pain. It broke my heart when she got her jabs. OH offered to hold her whilst the nurse pricked her but I thought I'd have to suck it up and be strong. I was strong until I got home and she started to scream when she moved her leg. Can i still blame it on the hormones ?? LOL!!!
Katie- not totally sure what Kevin will wear for his christening. He's got really smart white trousers from baby gap which he'll probably wear with a gorgeous wee shirt. Didn't fancy the whole christening gown idea, but he's wearing a lovely hand knitted shawl as well, to keep some tradition! I'll take a good few changes of clothes as well, as every time we have an "occasion", he ends up filling his nappy so much it goes on to his clothes!!!
Catherine- feel like I must be a terrible mother for getting like this (borderline) and that I have let everyone down (even tho I haven't told anyone) its very strange. dont feel theres anyone, friends, family etc that i want to know about it.
Jen - i haven't told any of my family either about being borderlie PND and have only told 2 very close friends, i don't want anyone to know either - feels like admitting failure! Think i have some extra stress which may be contriubting to feeling teary and anxious although i try not to think about it... Hubby is currently out of work after his contract ended. We also need to move house as 17 year old step daughter moved in with us in march after her mum kicked her out. We only have 2 bedroomed house, so the baby hasn't got his own room. Our bedroom is tiny and i think Osian will need a cot before another month is up, he's getting too big for a moses basket. So we need a new mortgage - therefore, hubby needs a permanent job and i've been told no-one will give me a mortgage whilst on maternity leave so will prob have to go back to work early Also hubby got this weird thing about my family at the mo, he doesn't want them to see the baby.... they wake him up and all want to cuddle him - well that's unusual behaviour round a baby isn't it?? think he'll be much better once he gets back to work.
Karen - my 6 week check was v similar, was asked if ok, if coping and if wanted contracpetion. I have to have my labour sped up for having very high blood pressure which was still high when discharged from midwife - was going to ask to have it checked but my mind is running on empty and i completely forgot! doh! Hope olivias leg is better today and there's no other side effects.
Think everyone who has planned christenings already has done remarkably well, i haven't got the brains at the mo. Can i ask a personal question? How much (ish) have the christennings put people back -all in? The hubby is currently out of work so things are mega tight but would love to get it done.
Well i've blabbed on long enough - went to parenting class this afternoon, was so nice to hear other babies cry! mine is normal! we went to my work to to show everyone how much the babies grown, busy busy!
I have yet to book the local golf club for the christening but the church just asks for a donation.
Oliver has his jabs tomorrow. I'm dreading it. He is so big now. He doesn't fit in his pram and is now in his push chair bit. 8 weeks old and in his push chair, how bad is that?!!!
My 6 week check was about the same Karen but she did check my BP.
Oliver has dropped a feed in the night now. He goes up to bed for 8pm and then wakes about 3-4am for a feed. Goes back to sleep and we get up between 7-8am. I am one happy Mummy!
Been on sunbed today and burnt - ouch! Off to moisterise now ha ha x
Jen and Catherine - sending big hugs to you both!xxxx Being a mum is hard work and you're doing a great job, you're not failures and you've not let anyone down! Repeat after me ' I'm a great Mum!'
Well Olivia was fine around midnight. She slept through the early hours until 5.30 this morning - 6 hours since her last feed! We were well impressed! All of today she has gone 3/4 hours between feeds rather than every2 hours! Maybe she's realised that she doesnt need feeding every 2 hours! Fingers crossed! She has been fine today with no disconfort in her leg and there is only 2 small marks on each leg. Cant believe we've got to go through it all again in a months time!
Kate - Ouch sun bed burn! I suggested going on just to fade the stretch marks but I got the 'look' from the OH, so I took that as a no I cant!
Anyway Im off to bed with Olivia now. Nite nite xxxxxx
Catherine- for the christening, so far the hire of a function suite in a pub has cost us £200, it includes a DJ, karaoke, late licence til 1am and holds 120 people so thats not too bad. We still have to pay for food (I'm doing the buffet rather than pay caterers) and give the priest something. Could u have something at ur house after it? Do u have a lot of family and friends to invite? We thought about having it in the house but it just isn't big enough, we r in a 2 bed flat so we've only really got the living room to have people in. Still not told anyone about the PND thing. got stress with OH which I dont know if its related to hormones bein all over the place or not. Extreme paranoia basically, which is horrible except sometimes I dont think it is me being paranoid if that makes any sense?? he is going away for a few days next week for pre-season football games which I dont feel great about, I'm like yes u go and have a good time and I'll just stay here and look after a baby, wash, cook, clean, iron, pay bills etc!!! dont have the energy to argue about it tho. Havent taken the baby into my work yet either which I cant be bothered with at all, I cant actually be bothered with a lot of things but I think I'll try n make myself and see if that helps
hey Jen what are you still doing awake? Feeding?? I cant sleep because of the rain. Right outside our bedroom there is the drain pipe and it's over flowing with all the water, not sure if its blocked. Im worried about you hun, you should speak or see HV asap as it could get worse over time. Hugs xxxx
Katie - Good luck with Oliver tomorrow with his jabs, ice pack and calpol at the ready. Hugs to both of you. Olivia nonw weighs 12lb 10! Already in 3-6 and even now theyre looking tight around the leg and arms!Tubby baby as you can see from the FB pics! lol.
Right Im going to try and get some sleep now. xxxxxxx
Just popping over from July 08 - my baby's 24 days old - sorry for gate crashing!!
Jen - Please speak to your HV or if you feel you can't, speak to your GP or practice nurse - hell, if you had a good relationship with your comm midwife & you have her mobile number (which you should have been given - I stored mine on my mobile) - then ring her- you need to speak to someone - sounds like you're under pressure & need to let things out face to face with someone who isn't involved, but who could help you - asking for help isn't a sign of failure, it's a sign of strength - it takes a very strong person to admit their issues - those with less strength ignore them & their problems only ever get worse.
hi karen, kevin went to sleep at 9pm so i thot he'll be up at 11ish for a last feed, needless to say he didn't waken til 2am ish, not sleeping very well just now anyway so it dosent really matter. thanx for the hugs x
Jen, I can understand why you feel down but as the other girls said, please contact your HV, GP, Nurse or MW. You will feel better after speaking to them. Hugs.
Dreading Olivers jab later. Hes asleep at min. We go away Sat and I have SOOOO much to do! My OH isn't helping me and I'm getting more than annoyed with him. And I wanted to buy a travel cot which was on sale at £40. He kept saying he'd get it and not to worry - now it's £80 full price again! ARGH!
Morning all! Jen, it's hard work taking the baby into work but you will feel really proud of yourself after, plus everyone wants a hold so you'll get a hot cuppa for the first time in weeks!
Went to parenting class yesterday and there's a few babies who are sleeping through from 10 - 4/5. Osian has a feed approx 8, 12am, 4am, 7am (ish it changes greatly from day to day!!!), i'd rather he dropped the 4am one than the midnight one as the hubby does the midnight feed, it'd be nice if he could gradually go longer so maybe sleep til 4:30, then 5 etc - one can dream!!!!!!!! we're learning baby massage in the class next week, really looking forward to it!
right, am going to get dressed, love to all. xxxxxxxxxx
Katie just time to leave you a message to say look at kiddiecare website. We got our travel cot from there for £30 I think. They are about an hours drive from us but their main business is the internet side and they have a distribution centre. Not sure if they do next day delivery though.
Catherine, christenings can be as big or as small as you want. for our first we went big got caterers in and had about 70people in our local village hall. the down side of having the after party at home or in a village/school hall is that you have to provide the drinks but on the other hand you can do your own food (finger buffet, sandwiches, crisps, nibbles and christening cake for pudding) if you have your do in a pub/club you might have to pay for room hire and they might not let you take your own food.
this time we are having 50people back to my parents doing a buffet and drinks, going to do pimms and lemonade and we have started buying bottles of beer when they are on offer. the risk is it might rain but hey if it does people just wont stay for long!
you could just do tea and cake back at home after the church or your vicar might let you do this at the church afterwards as long as you promise to give a nice donation and tidy up afteryourself
Well, Oliver had his jabs. He was a star at the docs, was smiling and cooing away as they did his weight and everything. Doc gave him some lactulose for his constipation. But said it's trial and error for the dosage (great doc eh?!). Had his jabs, cried a little then fell asleep. Woke up when I got home and was smiling and acting as normal. Had a bottle and fell asleep. Then about 10mins later he woke up screaming. It was awful, I couldn't settle him so gave him some paracetamol. Put him in bath and I nursed him til he settled and eventually fell asleep. Been asleep 3 hours now and he hasn't murmered once.
I was heartbroken when he was screaming.
Well, done all my ironing for the holiday now. Thank god. So much stuff to take. Thanks Laura for travel cot tip. Went out and bought a pop up one before I read your post.
Katie i know what u mean bout so much stuff to take when you go on hol, I only took Amir to Alton Towers for the day and had to take loads of stuff - I couldn't believe how good he was and suprise he didn't need feeding every two hours - must just be night time then he is more hungry. I got him home bathed him//fed him etc put him 2 bed and then we had a screaming bout for approx an hour - you just feel so helpless as you don't know what is wrong with them.
Hope he sleeps longer than 2 hrs 2nite Im knackered after a long day
