morning all,

Linz- shannon's almost 17 weeks (she's 2 days older than Rhys). She's much better now that we've stopped some of her medicines. It's horrible cos the acid hurts her before it comes up and there's nothing we can do to stop the pain.

Think i'm going to get some baby rice for shannon cos she's getting really hungry, we're constantly feeding her. She's put more weight on now which is good - 12lb 30z. Think i'm going to have to start putting her in 3-6mth trousers cos 0-3 are a bit short.

Take care

x

OMG Thomas is only 11 weeks and weighs 14lb 13oz. He is a hungry boy but I keep telling myself as long as he is healthy who cares. H was in 3-6 month clothes weeks ago.

The MIL is coming over tomorrow with OH aunt and cousin. Spoke to her last night and she says I have my key (from before Thomas was born) I'll let myself in, as I have Drs and might not be back. I said no! I think thats so cheeky. OH asked her for key back now she thinks she can just use it.

Thomas seems to be getting over his cough now. It was waking him during the night. There was nothing I could give him cos of his age.

I'm so annoyed we havent had any kind of summer. I had all these plans and haven't been able to do anything.

Hope everyones ok.

Luv Laura

Hi,

Oliver was weighed last Friday and weighs 14lb 13oz. He has now discovered how to scream - very high pitched. He does it all the time followed by a laugh. Was cute at first but at 3am this morning it was not!

I'm loving OH been away this week, can totally chill out when Oliver is in bed. Bliss.

Lou, have you started weaning Amir yet? He's a little bruiser isn't he - bet he's so cute you could eat him up!

My periods have settled down now but don't last as long -yeah!

Guna watch BB now and then Alan Carr.

Laura - my MIL invited herself for tea Friday and as there wasn't enough, she had mine! Grr. I too am annoyed we haven't had a summer. Wanted to walk the buggie loads but cant in the rain! Well, more a case of don't want to!

Hope everyone has a nice evening! x

Wow Louise - Amir must be a chubster! Bless!

Laura - Olivia is now into 6-9 months clothes now and she's coming up to 4 months! Ive still got clothes which are brand new and not had the chance to wear them! Nightmare. maybe they'll come in handy for baby number 2 if its another girl!

Katie - How funny is Oliver I bet he does it to get a reaction from you's.

Well I still havent been over to the in laws this week. Dont really want to as when I left Olivia with them last week for a few hours so that I spring clean the house. She ended up not settling and crying at the top of her voice for 2 hours. Even took OHages to try and settle her.  Is it so wrong that I dont go over with the LO cos I dont like them???

Anyway must dash OH has walked into the living room

Afternoon all-

Katie- maybe Oliver is starting to get ready to be weaned? Have you asked your HV? Or poss he just wants more milk? Do you give him a 'dream feed'? I give Lucy a last feed about 10pm and she sleeps through to after 8-8.30am. Did the same with Sophie and only dropped that feed when she was being weaned. Dunno if that helps? Most of the articles and books I read suggest a late evedning feed to fill their tummy through the night, but maybe you are doing that.

Hope everyone is well? Lucy has her 3rd jags next week- will be interesting to see what she weighs- I think she will be similar to Amir, very good appetite.

Karen- how is wee Olivia in 6-9 month clothes already? I thought she was cute and wee? Lucy very comfortably fits the 3-6 month stuff but most of her real cloth nappies make her look like a sumo!!

Have a great weekend ladies!

I was dream feeding him but stopped this week as he was still waking at the same time for a bottle. Will give it another go. I was under impression they need weaning when milk isn't filling them? Oliver only has 4oz a time, 5oz if he's been really hungry! I'm totally thick to it all! Thanks for your advice I really appreciate it.

Karen, Oliver has only just moved into 3-6months clothes! Is Olivia long? x

Show/hide user stats

Hey ladies!

What is this dream feed?? never heard of it.  Recently Olivia has only taken an oz for her 1am feed then she lasts till 4 or 5am. Is this a dream feed??Katie - the HV told me the same thing. Olivia doesnt take more than 4oz.

I think Olivia is long as I had to snip the toes off hee 3-6 months sleep suits when she was 2 months old. It was getting a short in the arms and a little tight around the belly.  Will have to get her weighed next week.

Olivia went to the out laws earlier this evening so that I could paint the kitchen. After stripping her for her bath, I noticed a brown stain on her body suit when I took this off I noticed that her right nipple was inflamed, red and ouzing some kind of water. first thought was that some hot liquid was spilt on her whilst over at the out laws. Rang OH and he said nothing had happened whilst she was over there. Looked closer at her clothing, there was nothing on her outer top just her body suit. She's not in any discomfort and is not ratty. Will keep an eye on it over the weekend.

Well ladies have a good weekend

Hey Katie- I know what you mean about weaning when milk isn't enough, but I reckon each HV tells us something different! I weaned Soph at 4 months because she was less fussed about her milk- she still drank it, but not as ferociously and just seemed a bit bored with it, looking at me as if she was expecting something else and chewing her hands and watching me eat. I was told that meant she was ready, now Lucy is doing the same, but I am holding off as we are going to in-laws in Ireland in a couple weeks and I don't want to have to transport feeding utensils, organise food etc til we come back as we have to take steriliser etc as it is! MIL's kitchen isn't great to leave stuff out either!

Karen- the 'dream feed' is when you lift your sleeping baby for a feed between 10-11pm to see them through the night. Lucy is rarely asleep as she sits on my knee in the evening or on her belly in her gym, but it works for us as she is asleep by 10.30pm and you don't hear from her til 8.30am! Wonderful! Hope Olivia is ok? xx

Karen hope Olivia is OK.

I'm trying the dream feed as from last night. He still woke up at 2.30 for a feed but only had an oz. then he was awake and wanting to get up at 6.30am. Fingers crossed persistance will pay off!

Claire, we go to Benidorm in 5weeks and I really wanted to hold off until we got back but I suppose we'll see.

Oliver been such a mardy bum today. He's cried most of the day - think he has another tooth coming as for the last week he has been really clingy and has screamed when anyone other than me has gone near him. My M&D want to have him one day next week but I know he'll just scream for them. What you think? Am I been over-protective?

Katie xoxo

Hiya

Thankfully Olvia's nipple seems to be clearing up. Its less red and isnt ouzing out that much discharge. She didnt seem to be too bothered by it but Im still going to docs tomorrow if I can get an appointment.

Definately never heard of a dream feed. She had 4 ozs last night for her 1am feed then she still feeds at 4 or 5am.

I dont think you're being over protective. My parents are the same esp my dad. But Olivia is really clingy to us and hates being in new environments and screams after 5 mins of being with othe people. OH says that other people should carry her more often then she wont scream. Its ok to say that but its not him to has to look after her when he goes to work. Im going to wait till she's less clingy and is willing to go others.

Hi there, I started Amir on a couple of tea spoons of baby rice in his bottle last night and Im not sure if it was just coincidence but he did sleep better.  I wanted to wait till he was 17weeks but the size of him I thought he was getting ready for weaning.

Went today to one of my teams daughters 1st birthday party - it was chaos and Amir just sat there staring at everyone.  Im panicking a bit as Im in work a few days this week and he too has started being clingy - im sure he will be ok as he is staying with mum and dad for the days but they are worried now if he starts crying and they can't stop him.

Anyway going to try and have an early night as Amir off to bed.

Take care

Lou xxx

Hi everyone,

I hope everyone is doing ok. I have been doing the dream feed thing with Thomas for a good few weeks now at about 10 or 11pm. Then he sleeps till 7am.

Thomas has not been himself the last couple of days. I think he has a little bug. He would not settle today and was so hot so I gave him some calpol and it seemed to work.

I have just signed up for the swim the channel challenge for aspire charity to help get rid of my baby belly. Its 22miles in a pool over 12 weeks. I hope its not too cheeky of me to put my fundraising page on here in case anybody wishes to sponsor me. Its www.justgiving.com/lauragill1 I apreciate the smallest amount to help me reach my target of £300. Thanks.

Take care.

Hi Everyone

Has anyone else started weaning their LO's yet?  I gave Eva baby rice for the first time on Friday but there was honestly more down her chin than in her mouth and it doesnt taste very nice lol.  On Saturday we gave her some cow and gate fruity cereal which confused her a bit.  Today we continued with the fruity cereal and she even swallowed it a couple of times.  The rest ended up down her chin again.

Its all a bit daunting having to start something else new, just when we thought we were getting the hang of things.

She is still waking through the night for feeds, but hopefully once she starts on the home-made pureed veg etc, she'll sleep through! (here's hoping, someone told me their LO slept through once they started on potato)

Hope everyone is ok

Morning all,

I should hopefully be getting the internet back at home today, we've been without it for 2 months cos of a virus and we've just got a new computer, so i'll be testing it out later.

Karen - glad Olivoa seems to be better, wonder what it was?

Katie- we've been giving Shannon a dream feed for ages, normally at about 10 until she goes to sleep. It usually works but lately she's been waking at about 3. We've started weaning her cos she's losing interest in her milk, usually she gulps it down but now she just hold the teat in her mouth.

Alison  we've had the same problem with the food. We've been giving shannon c&g taste of apple - she has a bit of it but most of it ends up dribbling down her chin. She likes holding the spoon and feeding herself but finding her mouth's a bit messy!!

We're going away next week and not sure what we're gonna do about the feeding. Once a jar of baby foods been opened do you have to put it in the fridge? We're going to butlions for the week and we've tried to see if we can upgrade and get a room with a kitchen but they haven't got any, so not usre what to do.

Laura- hope thomas is over his bug.

Lou - i'm sure you'll be fine when you go into work. I've been back full time since shannon was 9 weeks old. It is hard but at the same time it's nice to have a break!

Speak soon

Torie

Hi,

Torie- Maybe you could use the smallest size jars or you can buy a thinsulate bag that keeps food cool.

Thomas does seem a bit brighter this morn. He has taken to holding his bottle himself. Its hilarious to see a 12 week old baby holding their bottle.I had to take a pic as evidence. Apparently as a baby I was exactly the same.

I have been stocking up on baby supplies. Sainsburys have 1/3 off all baby stuff its brill. I've bought loads of food ready for weaning. I intend to make my own but just wanted some jars in for convenience.

Well the weather looks a bit better today. Hopefully I'll get some washing dry.

Have a nice day everyone.

Laura

Afternoon all-

Torie, the jars do say they need to be refrigerated after opening and most need to be used within 24 hours of opening. I used the HIPP organic ones occasionally for Sophie when we were out and about, but they do have a short shelf life once open.

Laura- Lucy is the same with her bottle- even removes it from her mouth when she wants a breather! Weather here pretty terrible- no washing for me.

Hope you all have a good day!

Claire xx

Show/hide user stats

Thanks Laura & Claire, I thought the jars would need to be refridgerated. Might just have to buy 5 jars and throw away what she doesn't have - seems bit of a waste but it can't be helped. I have made some of my own apple food for her - it looks completely different to the jarred stuff. Hoping i've made it right.

Shannon holds her bottle as well. We've bought her one with handles on, she can hold it properly. She makes a bit of a mess with it cos she misses her mouth quite abit!

Hope you'er all enjoying maternity leave, i'm sooo bored at work, been stuffing envelopes since 7 this morning!!

xx
