Aren't all the babies clever? Harvey is starting to get there too now. He can get onto his knees look as if he's about to crawl and then collapse onto his tummy and go backwards which makes him cross. If I put him holding onto the bath or couch he will attempt to cruise and he can stad by himself for a couple of seconds. He's got 4 teeth now and my SIL reckons she's spotted another one but I can't see it.
I ende up at A and E on Friday night. We were just about to go out and Harvey was sitting on Elliott's bed while I got some socks oput and he decided to dive head first off the bed onto the laminate floor. He cried loads and got a huge egg like lump but seemed fine. Then he went really drowsy, not like his usual going to sleep so I thought I'd take him to be checked out since it's only round the corner. They were really good and we were in and out within anhour and ahalf and he was fine, but I really panicked.
I've managed to lose my mobile but luckily my insurance covers it and I just have to go to the shop to pick up a new one, lost all my numbers though. Lois will you text me with your number and Steph's next week, by which time I'll have my new phone - it'll still be the same number. I think I lost it Friday but only reported it today so I hope someone hasn't run up a huge bill on it.
Lois, hope everything goes well for the christening.
Kath - you should get a brown tote bag (I think that's what they are). It has a book, sometimes 2 and a few other things in it. They'll get 3 in total before they go to school - ask your hv as I think they're supposed to give them out although we get ours from our children's centre.
Right must go, it's getting very difficult to type during the daytime as I have to keep a very close eye on Oscar as he's constantly trying to get himself into trouble!
Hope everyone is OK! Wow the babies are coming on in leaps and bounds! This is such a nice time with them isn't it? Now they are mobile they don't seem to rely on us as much!
Sorry haven't been on for a while! It was my birthday on Friday! Had a lovely day! All my mummy friends came round and we had a picnic! Then we watched the footie in the evening and watched Holland beat France wohooooooo (hubby is Dutch)! On saturday we went out for tea while my friend babysat Lilly! Oh it was so nice! Then on Daddy's day we went out for a picnic!! Lovely!!
I got my bookstart pack cos we go to the library every Thursday for rhyme time! Lilly loves it although she was far more interested in going over to the bigger children this time!!
Did you get the christening gown Lois?? Lilly's christening is booked for Sept 21st! I am so excited!!
That must have been really scary Kath - glad he's fine. Funny enough i was thinking about texting both of youse to see if your up for a meet up next fri. I'll c what steff's up to.
Rach, i go to the library as well, i'll ask when i go in tomorrow.
Skye's Christening gown was actually worn by one of her god parents when she got christened 26yrs ago. It looks so cute with the little bonnet as well. We will be changing her after the christening though as i dont want her to ruin the dress (being a designer dress and the fact that its not ours and the fact that she will want to be moving around and she wont be able to in the long gown), so got her a lovely red dress from debenhams with white spots on it to wear after. Are you having a big do Lou?
Well got news - my little darling took 2 steps again today. She did it yesterday when playing with daddy. I didnt see it the first time alll i heard was her daddy shouting out to me, kept watching her all day and she never did it again until the evening when she did quite a few times. Today me and a few friends started off our own version of 'musical minis' and whilst there, skye decided to show off and everyone was like look...i felt so chuffed with her.
i was just wondering at what age you started weaning your little angels and how you went about it? my little boy is 15 weeks and has tried some rice which he thought was ok, and some breakfast thing which he nearly gummed the spoon to pieces he liked it so much! i know they say not b4 17 weeks, but hes so hungry sometimes 8 ounces doesnt satisfy him!! so, any advice, menus, ideas would be much apprieciated!!
Hi Julianne - I started my little boy with food at just over 16wks old as he was feeding loads from me throughout the day and night! I started with baby rice like you, but a lot of hv are now saying not to worry about that at all and just go straight on to actual fruit and veg. It's suggested that you start with veg first as babies are used to sweet tasting milk so if you start with fruit they may not take well to being given something not so sweet afterwards. If I remember correctly the first meal my son had was pureed carrots, but most root veg are good. Then try fruit including sweet apples (like pink ladies), pear and banana. Hope that helps!
Lois - I can't believe Skye is already taking steps! Well done her
Hope everyone is OK! Steff where are you?? And Emma!!
I am doing good!! Went out with my mummy friends last night but I don't feel too delicate! We had a great night and hardly talked about the babies!! So nice to do it! Feels like its been ages (it has ha ha ha ha!)
Well done Skye for walking! She is so clever! Lilly walks holding on to me! She can also use her babywalker! I am so proud of her! Think she will probably be taking a few steps by the time we go on hols!
Oh going to the restaurant to sort out Lilly's christening party! Think we have about 40 coming Lois so it's pretty big! Can't wait to go buy the outfit lol!! Tomorrow we are going to Bluewater and buy all our holiday stuff! Wohooooooooo!!
Julianne - I started Lilly off on baby rice. Then I gave her carrot, parsnip all the root veggies. After about a month I went on to strong stuff like cauliflower and broccoli! Rach is right - don't give your boy too much fruit to start they get use to the sweet taste!!
when he had a spurt bout 2 weeks ago, and bottles were not doing it for him i gave him baby rice which he didnt mind. also have tried him on a cereal type thing which he likes so at least i know hes ok on them when we start to wean properly.will be careful bout the sweet stuff coz both me and OH hav
juliannee sweet tooths...teeth..... what ever it should be lol
Just had no chance to get on laptop! DH has been off work for 4 days after finishing training course, so we have been doing 'big' jobs at home together! We cleared out the junk garage with DJ watching, on his Smart Trike (TM); and found 2 dead mice I squealed and leapt on the spot for 10 minutes whilst DH scooped them into wheelie bin!
Kirst, so sorry hun! When are you going back? I could hook up with you tomoz? Hope you have been enjoying yourself! Bet you can't wait to get back to some Spanish sun!
OMG, my brother told me about that boy that was being EATEN alive by his family in the Czech Republic! I feel physically sick. I don't understand how people can harm children. What chance does that poor little soul have of leading a normal life now? He will be so mentally scarred. It reminds me of that Fritzl freak. I hope these evil b@s@rd$ get the worst treatment imaginable so their lives are also hell and torturous.
I just think how much I love my son, and would put my life on the line to save his and I just can't understand it.
Moving on...
Lois, well done to clever little Skye! She is amazing! There is no stopping her is there?
Kath, poor little Harvey! Why do babies seem to leap off things or onto things and land on their faces/heads? Bet you couldn't believe it!
Lou, the christening sounds fantastic! I would like to organise ours, but FIL is too ill to travel and can't really do one without the in-laws attending.
eaten?....eaten?????noooooooooooo!!!!!!!! good god .!! hes still alive........??bloody hell!!...im new on here(i havent gota baby your babies age just on here getting advice etc about weaning coz am first time mum)......how many babies do you have....im just so nosey!!
Afternoon ladies and babies. I hope you're all doing well.
Don't know if anyone remembers but I had huge problems getting Oz to sleep in his cot during the day and was spending most of my time walking around our village trying to make him sleep....well last weekend I decided it was time to start trying him in his cot again, as we had established the times when he needed sleep during the day, and it is working! Apart from yesterday, which was a busy day and he napped in his carseat whilst we were out driving and didn't get grumpy at all, he has slept in his cot for both morning and afternoon naps without too much difficulty. It's so much nicer now to be able to get things done around my house as he generally sleeps for longer in his cot as well.
Oh and I had another chuffed mum moment when Oscar stood up on his own for a few seconds! He keeps trying it out, so I'm thinking by 10months he might be standing on his for a while.
Laptop is still broken, so DH has bought a new one and I have his old one. I don't like the mousepad on it, so I got a mini mouse (pink, of course!) and I have a flash drive (also pink) winging its way to me so I can back up my photos and college work this time!
Emily is in her new car seat now. She was way too tall for the newborn seat, and too heavy. She seems to like to be able to see out of the window, and it is still snug enough so she can go to sleep if she wants to.
She is so fast now! I have to lock all the gates when she is on the loose. She can cover the length of the landing in no time! She still does the commando crawl, using one arm and the opposite leg. I don't think she will crawl properly, she has found her mode of travel for now. DS never crawled, always did the commando crawl, but used both arms and one leg. I have strange kids.
I'm going to have to go back to my old job. Gutted. The job I was offered with the other company was ideal, apart from the traveling. It would have wiped out my pay. I'm already on the payscale where I was, and getting good money for what I did (considering where I live), so unfortunately I have to go back there and negotiate a different position. They have a new partner, and he seems to be listening to what I want - finally.
Well Im back home now after a mear of a flight with baba screaming half way home cause she was just too tired, i must remember to get a day flight next time, mental note!
Em next time hun, we'll do it and plan before.
Steff, go get the job and negotiate till you cant get no more money!
Rach yes i do remember and i too must try putting Lili to bed on her own, both day time and night time, but when I try it she just stands up crying and looking for me to hug her back to sleep and i just give in.
Must do cook some more baby food, after the ironing, oh welcome home me as a womans work is never done.
ps its nice to be back in the sun again, but i have to put the A/C on to get Liliana to sleep as its soo blooming hot in the bedroom.
Kath, glad Harvey is OK, I swear, their job is to make us worry!
Rach, well done with the sleeping. I've done the opposite to you. I keep the cot for night time sleeps only. During the day she sleeps in her bouncy chair (granted, she is too big for that now), the settee surrounded by cushions or of course in the car. Looking back, I don't know why I've done that, but she is usually a little angel at nights.
Lois, when is Skye's christening? I know you've said, but I can't remember.
Hope everyone is OK! Wow Rach well done you with Oscars sleeping!! They sleep way better in their cots during the day! I used to put Lilly down on her baby gym for her naps??!!? Why did I do that??
Oh check Em out been so fast! Lilly is also mega fast too! She goes like a don't know what! Like Oscar she is trying to stand alone! She lets go of the couch and looks at me as if to say look how good I am Mummy!! She also walks properly if I hold her hands! Going to buy her some shoes before we go on hols cos maybe that will help even more!
Kirst sounds like you had a good time in the UK but you also sound glad to be back! The cooking does my head in now! I think 've got loads and then there is none left! I gave Lilly fishfingers the other day! She loved them. Bought chicken nuggets to see how well they go down!
I have a beeping in my house like something is running out of batteries but I can't figure out what?!?!
