Looks like Lili has her 1st toothon the way, oh my poor baby, Em we went on a caribbean cruise it was FAB and would go again 2morow. must go have to get 4 loads of washing in from the line.
Hope everyone is OK?? Gosh its quiet on here! Where is everyone?? Have you all drowned in this horrendous weather? I hope Kath's alright camping in this! Really appreciate those lovely sunny days we were having now!
Ah Kirst, poor Lili! Those toothy pegs do hurt! Thought Lilly was cutting her top teeth because she was horrible for like 3 days but today she is in a fab mood and really happy! We went to this lake place today and they had a cafe. We were eating lunch by the window and there was a boy outside playing with a blow up ball. Lilly was stood at the window absolutely laughing her head off! It was so cute! Me and my friends were wetting themselves!
Well done Oscar for walking! You should be a very proud Mum Rach! Lilly won't walk on her own but she is starting to satnd on her own. And she managed to curcumnavigate the lounge today by cruising round furniture!
Oh Em a cruise! Sounds lovely! I am sure you will get a bargain! We saved 500 pounds on our hols by booking direct on the Thomsons website! You would've been proud of me the other day! I spent 40 pounds in baby gap and bought 2 dresses, capri pants, smock top leggings and a t-shirt! how good am I??
Kath, how was camping? I hope the weather wasn't too bad for you. Despite the forecast, it wasn't too bad here - thankfully as DS was on a cadet camp.
Oh Kirsty, poor Lili with her teeth!
Well done Oscar! There will be no stopping him now!
Everyone is sick. Em started off with a cold, which has also become sickness and the runs, and teething. DH is in bed with a bucket and aches all over, even DS was sick on camp. And the cat has one constantly running eye and a snotty nose. I'm fine! They all have something different - what's going on?? I'm taking Em to the doc tomorrow, she's not eating either. We've gone back to stage 1 foods, and half the amount she used to eat. Poor dab.
I can't keep up with the washing, cloths to clan up sick or poo, clothes for us (she has an uncanny aim) and the carpet hasn't had a chance to dry between scrubs! Aaarrrggghhhh!
Oh Steff your poor family! Hope everyone is recovered now. Harvey has had the runs too. They withdrew his usual milk in Tesco's because of a labelling error or something and since he has had to have a different one he has had a relly bad tummy.
Camping was great! It was a bit wet on the first day and putting all the tents up between 5 of us was very hard work (7 big tents). Harvey was a bit scared of the wind and rain the first night and was in bed with us. Since we got back we have had 2 really bad nights with him. When we put him to bed he just screamed. So much that he made himself sick every night. Fingers crossed he seems better tonight. Do you find your babas are unsettled when they've been away?
Has Lily's tooth come through yet, Kirsty?
Harvey is constantly doing new things. Must get locks for the kitchen cupboards. I left him playing in the front room while I went upstairs to get dressed and when I came down he had crawled into the kitchen, opened the cupboard and was getting all the cleaning sprays out to play with!
Off to bed now, thank goodness it's nearly the summer holidays.
Haven't been on for ages because we're on holiday and there's no internet access. How is everyone?? Glad to see all the babies seem to be coming on well!! Lucia is now properly crawling, using everything to stand up and has another tooth!
We've been on a tour around Spain (it feels like!). We've been to Madrid, then up to Segovia, then back to Madrid, onto Zaragoza and now we're in Madrid again. Between Segovia and Madrid Lucia had a horrible virus which affected her for 6 days. She had 3 days of a temp of 39º and then 3 days of a horrible rash, and was teething at the same time! Anyway, she seems much better now. She's doing very well considering all the travelling! OH is off work till 4th August, so I'm getting loads of rest, it's great. Also, my parents arrive on 29th july for a 3 week stay, so more rest then I think!!
Rach, how great is Oscar for walking!!
Steff, I hope everyone gets better soon, and you don't come down with anything!!
Em, have you booked the holiday yet? I could do with getting out of Spain, but I don't think that'll happen til September!
Kisrt, any sign of any toothypegs yet?
Kath, I bet you can't wait for the summer hols to start, enjoy them!!
Lou, have a great time in the dominican republic you lucky thing!!
Well, I passed the entrance test for the job I've applied for. Tomorrow I have the interview. That's why we're in Madrid again. Well, it'll be a confidence boost if it's offered to me, but apart from that, I seriously doubt it's feasible to accept it.
We took Em to the doc on Monday and were given rehydration salts. She still had the runs by Wednesday, so called the doc again and were told to carry on as we were. By Thursday she had developed a rash as well, so back to the doc. It seems that it is a viral rash that is connected to everything else she has had for the past week. Funny thing is, she hasn't had a temperature, and although she has been sleeping loads (she goes to bed for daytime sleeps now) she has been happy and alert when she hasn't been tired/hungry/thirsty/dirty...
Thankfully everyone else has recovered. I came down with the runs for 24 hours too.
I think the cat is on her last legs. She has a sore (or something more sinister) on the roof of her mouth which is constantly bleeding now, so I need to get her to the vet. I'm afraid she won't come home from there.
Laura, I hope the interview went well.
Kath, how is Harvey sleeping now? Is Harvey on SMA Progress? It has been pulled fron Tescos and Morrisons down here, but I got some from Boots on offer. I've also seen it with the new packaging in our local Lloyds the chemist.
How is everyone? Wow Steff your week sounds very similar to mine! Had hubby in hospital overnight on Monday with suspected appendicitis! Also Lilly has been really poorly too! It sounds exactly like what Em has got Steff. Lilly is absolutely fine in herself, really happy and babbling away! But she keeps been sick whenever I give her milk and is really off her food! She won't eat anything with lumps and is eating half of what she normally does! Then this morning she did this gross pale poo!! So she has had baby rice made with water and banana for lunch and tea! I'm not worried about her dehydrating cos she has really wet nappies and is drinking loads of water! But she got a rash too Steff! And then on tuesday I got really sick too! There must be a nasty bug going round!
God sorry for waffling on then! How is Em now? And how is your cat? I hope she will be OK!
Glad camping was good Kath! Was worried you might've been washed out!
Laura - good luck with your results! Sounds like you have been very busy travelling here there and everywhere!
Well my week has ended nicely! My bro is here and he looked after Lilly while I did the big shop in Sainsburys and got all the last bits for the holiday! Had my hair done and dyed so I feel human again and I have a pedicure on Tuesday! Wohooooooo!
Lily is doing really well! her babbling is really coming on! All she would say was ba ba and wa wa but we now have ga ga goo goo and all these other consanant sounds! She sounds like she is proper talking! She is cruising everywhere and she sometimes stands alone and can she can also stand up from sitting alone too! Such a clever girl! We bought her first shoes on Sunday! They are soooooooo cute!
Well, I think and hope that things are getting back to normal.
Baby: Emily's rash came to nothing, her appetite is returning and her diarhoea (sp?) is finally starting to clear up. We had our first close to normal nappy this evening, so fingers crossed that after nearly two weeks she is getting better. We even ventured to the park this afternoon, although in the half hour we were there I had to change her twice!
She seems to be remembering sounds she used to make, but had forgotten about. She gave us everything she had today, a whole story's worth! So cute.
During all this, in the last ten days, Em has cut four teeth! Her fourth on the bottom and three at the top. Poor kid!
Cat: I took her to the vet on Monday after we all said our goodbyes to her. The vet thought it could be one of two things - an abcese or a tumor. She decided that it was worth trying antibiotics and go back today to see how she went. Back today to see a different vet. He said it was most likely a tumor on the roof of her mouth. Operating was too tricky given the location and her age, a biopsy was risky and not much point, so we have decided to go for paliative care. I'm to give her medicine every day which might slow the growth of the tumor down and it is also a painkiller. She seems to have perked up, so as long as she is happy and has a good quality of life, my lap is hers whenever she wants it!
Lou, how cute are those shoes? I love Lilly's smile.
How is your hubby now?
Kath, you are brave camping again! I hope the weather holds out for you.
How is everyone? It's very quiet on here, I hope you're all out enjoying yourselves!
Steff, I'm glad that Em's getting better. It's so cute how they're starting to talk more. I'm sorry to hear about your cat though, it's awful too when a pet is poorly, they're part of the family as well!
Lou, those shoes are gorgeous! I'm going to have to get Lucia some when she starts to toddle on her own a bit. I don't think that's too far away, maybe after summer. I hope your OH is feeling better now!
Kath, the job is as a translator. It's a job I would love. I think it's the only thing I'm really qualified for, and offers from companies rather than freelance, are few and far between. I haven't heard anything yet, and to be honest, the interview didn't seem to go well. They seemed quite intent on knowing the ins and outs of what I intended to do with my baby if I started a full time job (surely not supposed to ask??? but then, it is Spain).
We've had a lovely couple of family days out at the beach. Lucia is even starting to like the sea, she was petrified at first! I was wondering as well - when Gus feeds her she ends up looking like she's wearing a face mask!! Is anyone else's OH a messy feeder??? The thing is him and Lucia both think it's really funny!!
Hi guys....so much to catch up on. Steff and Lou, sorry to hear Emily and lilly has been poorly - glad they're getting better. Poor babies...
Wow, how quick has it gone??? 9 months already (and nearly for some) and it sounds like all our babies are so clever and improving everyday.
Again, I've been crap at getting on here and of course you know i have a reason....well started using my work laptop but cldnt log on here as i dont actually know my password for here...in my home laptop i never used to log off when i shut the computer so can always get on here...still dont know it. Got home laptop back now as learnt to my nephew who was doing his exams hence while i'm on here.
Gone back to work now - 16hrs a week. Enjoying being back but still hate saying goodbye to Skye when i go in to the office every tuesdays (even though she's with daddy all day) but love to see her face when i come home as it lights up
Lou, funny enough got Skye her first shoes yest - i would totally reccommend going to clarks for anyone that wants one (also they've got sales on now). They even take free pictures of bubba in shoes and put it in a little framy thing with my first shoes... I got Skye a sandal rather than shoes cos i thought she can then make most of it during 'summer'. She's so cute walking around in them. Her walking is really good now - we've got a little playgroud at the back of our house and she walks there now.
We also got a passport photo done cos we're hoping to go away in Sept and she refused to smile.
Lilly is loads better thank god! Appetite has come back and she is eating her normal lumpy food! And just in time too! Holiday tomorrow! Wohoooooooooo!!
Thanks for all your kind words about Lilly and hubby! Hubby is absolutely fine although a bit stressed at work! And Lilly is great!
So Skye has her first shoes? So cool! WE got oiurs from Clarks too and got the pic and stuff! She got cruising shoes cos she is not walking properly yet! Wow you must be so proud of Skye Lois! She is so advanced with her crawling and walking and stuff!
Oh Laura hope you heard back from the job! Surely they can't ask you about what is happening with your baby??!!
In this age, its so wrong to be asking you about what you will do with bubba...I sure hope thats not the reason. Cross my fingers for you.
Lou, where are you off to again? Lucky you!!!
Laura, I know what you mean about baby being in such a mess when OH is feeding - I just dont know how they manage it. Although having said that, this morning Skye decided to scoop porridge in her spoon (I was getting well excited cos i thought she was going to put it in her mouth), but no, my little girl had other ideas- splat it goes on the wall!!! And the little madam then pointed at it and said what sounded like 'there'.......had to stop myself from laughing and put on my serious face but she just kept saying 'there'
Is this normal???? I'm finding that Skye is waking up at 5.30 in the mornings - she's done it for the last 4 days and i've put it down to hot weather but now im getting really tired i need to do something to help it...any ideas????
I should really get some work done - I'm working till 2 today and then off to the park with her little friend. Oh crap, thats in 10 minutes
just got back from camping, the weather was gorgeous and Harvey was really good.
Lois, his sleeping is awful at the moment. He won't go down unless he is really fast asleeo and then when he wakes up, which is about 2 or 3 times a night he needs cuddling back to sleep. He has had a bad tummy which seems to be improving and is cutting 2 teeth at the top and another at the bottom, add the hot weather in and that might be why we're having all the problems at night. He's not eating as well either. Drinking lots though so that's OK.
Sorry about the abrupt exit then. OH was calling for assistance. Funny enough he was feeding Harvey and got really messy. Mind you I seem to get him messy too.
I'm going to my mum's next week so I'm going to hint about how she bought Elliott his first pair of shoes so hopefully she'll do the same. He cruises the furniture and loves walking round holding on to someone's fingers. He has staggered a couple of steps too.
Lois, now it's the holidays I'll be round at my SIL's near you sometimes so let me know your number and we'll meet at the park. I lost my phone so don't have your number any more.
Laura, that sounds like a great job. I wondered about going in to translating but opted for teaching instead. What kind of company is it for? A friend of mine used to be a translator for a German bank anmd she said it was ver well paid.
Got to go again. Bath time now. There's always sonmething to do.
isnt it hot????? Just got back from a funeral and I now feel shattered. We've only got one fan and Skye's got that in her room - i think i need to invest in another one as i feel so sticky.
kath, i've just sent you a text - hope harvey is sleeping better now - has the teeth come thru now???? Skye's top 2 cut thru last fri but they havent come out properly yet.
I dont think i can even wait for BB this evening as i feel so knackered so i think im off to bed.
It is non-stop! I'm trying to get organised for my DS to go to summer camp with the cadets. He has grown out of so much, but hasn't sorted out his clothes for the charity shop (or bin), so I have emptied his wardrobe to start from scratch. I have loads to iron to pack or give away, but I haven't had time to do it. He is staying at his Nanny's for a few days so I can't collar him just yet.
My step daughters are coming down tomorrow for DH's birthday, one is going back with her BF, the other is stopping over for a while.
I also have to pack. Half an hour after dropping DS off at the bus depot, my Dad is picking me up to go to Glasgow for my Aunty Judy's funeral. We knew the end was near, but it has still hit us hard.
