Typing from underneath a pile of ironing (for tomorrow).
Rach, good luck with the mad mw! I can't believe how grown up Oscar sounds! Sounds like a lovely day you had.
Well, I am now enrolled on an NVQ Level 2 in Childcare! They have the most wonderful, brand new creche there, and DJ went straight to the nanny without looking back! I was given a report at the end of his 2 hour session. He had such a WONDERFUL time. He painted a fish for me!!!!! I had tears in my eyes when the staff told me! They said, he had both hands in the purple paint, and then grabbed a load of glitter and put it on the fish! Also, rather amusingly, he had toast at snacktime, and the nanny told me that he licked the butter off, and subsequently attempted the theft of another child's toast....
When I came to collect him, he was engrossed with a shape sorter. I called 'Daniel, Daniel, DANIEL' no reply. I tapped him on the shoulder, he beamed at me, then returned to the toy!! HE loved it there!
Looking forward to my course, i've ordered the book from whsmiths, so gonna get stuck in asap. i also bought all the folders/paper/dividers and plastic sleeves today, so I feel all profesh. I've got to do the assignments well in advance, due to being in the family way.
Can't wait for DH to return from work, we got a camcorder to record DJ's antics and the birth of Jellybean, and it's arrived today!!
Lou, glad you're enjoying work. I'm quite looking forward to going back now (especially as my old boss has 'left the building'). Mind you, the money will certainly be a big help!
lol! Wow, it is so quiet here at the moment. I suppose that is inevitable with people going back to work and hands full of little 'uns and for some, morning sickness. How are you doing girls?
Em, what a relief that DJ enjoys nursery. You'll be a lot more relaxed leaving him knowing he has a whale of a time. Em has 2 taster sessions next week ready for when I go back the week after. I think. I still haven't had any confirmation. Apparently my name is down for a course, but I haven't heard anything officially. Ha! I just phoned work whilst I thought about it, and they have me down for the course on a Tuesday. I didn't bother reminding them I don't work Tuesdays! They'll soon realise.
Poor Em has a cold again. Thank goodness for Vicks, that's all I can say. A good slather on the chest every nappy change seems to work. She had very kindly shared her cold with us, so we are all snivelling.
I heard from Laura. For some reason, her computer won't let her log onto TB, so that's the reason we haven't seen her for a while.
Yeah, it's been dead on here! Everyone has left the building!
I'm sure Em will love her nursery. Babies just love to look at the other kids don't they? DJ went back to the creche today, and they told the mums that the person responsible for buying the snacks was asked to get teacakes (to toast) they returned with chocolate mallow teacakes, and did the mums mind if the children ate chocolate??!! Well, clearly DJ didn't mind. His brown stained top proved that much.
Hope Laura's ok Steff, was wondering about her!
That's funny about your work putting you on a tuesday course. Aren't companies incompetent!?
Right, gonna have a nice cuppa tea before DJ wakes up!
Hope everyone is OK! I am sure Em will love nursery Steff! Lilly sure does! And sounds like DJ is loving it too! How are you doing Em? Have you got a bump yet?
How is Em's cold Steff? I have a real stinker! Had it over a week now! I am all blocked up and achy and tired! Lilly has just gone back to sleep so I am going to join her! I need to be better for this weekend! Everyone is coming down for Lilly's christening on Sunday! I am getting VERY excited! Although I still have to write the place cards everything else is done! Can't wait to put pics on here of my gorgeous girl in her lovely dress!
Well I have taken the day off work tomorrow but Lilly will still go to nursery! Wohoooooo! A whole day to myself! I am dropping her off at 8 sharpish and then going back to bed! I plan to get my ironing and vacuuming done. The two things I can't do when Lilly is around! She is terrified of the vac!!??!
I think its such a good thing for them to go to nursery, I feel a bit sorry for Lili as she just stays with her Mummy all day and night, Im waiting for baby group to start up again so she can have a bit of play time with more little ones, oh em your going to record the birth, wow!!!!! cant remember what else i were going to say, im off out tonight for a chicks night out, cant wait, right must go before Lili wakes up x

I agree Kirsty - I feel a bit mean keeping Oscar all to myself rather than sending him off to play with other babies! We do get out a lot together but he never actually spends very long away from me. OH has suggested when next baby comes along Oz goes to nursery on a Fri am then OH can drop him off when he goes to work and pick him up when he finishes at lunch time. Gives Oscar a break from me and gives me some quality time with little one.
Em - we're definately not finding out the sex of baby, although it would be helpful in the organisation of bedrooms. My MW was completely relaxed when I went to see her, don't think she has many pregnant ladies to look after at the moment. She took some blood for a sickle cell/thalassemia test they are doing now and filled in forms as I will need to see a consultant 'cause of c-section. Spent around 45mins with her - she also said how gorgeous Oscar was which always goes down well with me!!!! Got my date for hospital to see part of the 'obstetrics' team, will be 1st Oct, and if I haven't had a scan before then (which seems unlikely as we're on our hols next week) I will be offered one then, so only 2 more weeks to wait.
Anyway feel like I'm dribbling on at the mo so I'll say adieu, hope you're feeling better Steff, little Em and Lou, and hope everyone else is doing well
Wow, how is everyone?? Can't believe I can't get on for a while and bang there's new babies on the way!!! That is such lovely news, I'm so happy (and quite jealous!!) for you all!
Well, after me swearing I wouldn't even think of repeating the experience til Lucia was 2, here's me and Gus talking of trying for numero 2 when Lucia is 1!!! We're infected with baby fever!
BTW I'm able to get on the site now cos I'm in England on my parents' computer. Gus said he's going to "format" the computer while I'm away, apparently that might fix the prob of me virtually not being able to go on the internet. I don't know if it'll work, it all sounds like gibberish to me!
So, how is everyone and how are all the babs?? There was a lot to read, but I seem to remember that nearly all are now walking and some are at nursery, wow if I'd stayed away any longer they'd have been at university! Well, Lucia still isn't walking although it doesn't seem far away. She can stand unaided for a few seconds and she spends most of the day cruising round the furniture. We still don't have any words, but she seems to be understanding a lot more. Apparently bilingual babies take longer to speak.
On the topic of nursery, Lucia isn't going at the moment either. I think in January I'll look into taking her a couple of hours a week. I feel mean too because she absolutely loves being around other babies and toddlers. The thing is though, I think in Spain because most babies are in full time nursery before they're 12 months old, nursery is more of a formal thing and not many let you take your baby for just a few hours per week. We'll see.
Also, I didn't get the translation job, surprise surprise. I really don't want to sound bitter and say they only didn't give it to me because I have a baby... but... Well, I'm glad I went through the selection process and I suppose in a way a difficult decision was taken for me, so nevermind.
Anyway, I better go because Lucia is asleep and I want to get packed up. We're going back to Spain tomorrow and we have to leave for the airport at 7am aaaaaaarg!
Rach, glad to hear everything's preogressing nicely with your pregnancy! I don't blame you for not finding out the sex of #2. It sounds stupid, but I want to know this time, so I can organise a nursery. If it's a girl, I want PINK PINK PIIIIIIINNNNNNKKKKKKK! Also, I can start to get rid of all the boy clothes. If it's a boy, I still want a lovely nursery for him, and want to get some new things (even though I will be 'recycling' the cot).
I had my scan today! hehe. I managed to get a cancellation. Otherwise, it would have been the 2nd of Oct (nearly 17 weeks by my lmp) Anyway, rather hilariously, I had totally fudged up my dates. I had no idea when my last period was, so I just guessed when the Doc asked me. (I dunno why, but I find healthcare professionals seem to frown on you if you don't keep a 'period' calendar) Saw our gorgeous bundle turning somersaults. It was so funny. THERE REALLY IS A BABY IN THERE AGAIN!! DJ never moved that much when he was scanned. This baby's gonna be a real livewire I think.
My original due date was the 12th March. Well, according the the Hospital, I am due the 21st March, so I must've been testing REALLY early. Like 5 days past ovulation! haha. What a gonk. No wonder the results were SO pale!
Laura! WICKED to hear from you. I wondered where you'd got to. Thanks for the congratulations! Don't worry about Lucia not walking. DJ is a cruiser too. He did actually walk solo into my parents lounge, but DH was too busy playing with his new camcorder to look up when I cried out 'Look at Daniel, he's walking!' and by the time he looked up, DJ was flat on his bum.
That's true about bilingual babies, Laura. DJ only says dadda and maaammmmaaa. I can't say he is properly bilingual, as we speak mostly English at home! Although, we do tend to switch to French when in France, plus I do read him his favourite French book 'Le Chantier' (the Building site) most days.
Got Daniel his first pair of baby shoes from Clarks the other day. They are so CUUUUUUTTTTTTEEEEEE. He was a 5G!
My college course is going well, with the obvious bonus of DJ's lovely Creche being attached to it. Just trying to find a placement now.
I've just dropped Emily off to nursery for a taster session. She was very serious, as she usually is in a new environment, taking everything in. She went to the girl who opened the door to us, and seemed OK with everything, so I gave her a kiss goodbye and went. I go to pick her up at 3. Went to Tescos and bought her a cute fleece and sme socks to make myself feel better!
Em isn't walking yet, but cruising everywhere. I need eyes in the back of my head, she is a real climber. She gets on the sofa, climbs up the back, and stands on the window sill waving at people walking up the hill.
Laura, shame about the job, but think of it as experience. You've gone through the system and know what happens for the next time.
All the colds are better, thanks! I spent a couple of nights coughing into my pillow trying not to wake Em in the next room.
How are the birthday party plans coming along? I think I'll just have an open house on the Sunday after her birthday. She doesn't know what day is what, I just won't tell her! I've got into baking cakes, so I think I'll do some home baking, leaving enough time for a dash to Tesco if it all goes horribly wrong! lol
How is everyone? Oh Em I bet the scan was wonderful! You have seen your new baby! Are you bothered about what you have or do you want a girl?
Really nice to hear from you Laura! Hope you're OK! Sorry you didn't get the job!
Well Lilly was christened yesterday! It was great! She was good as gold even though she had half the font chucked over te he he he! She was passed round everybody and didn't care!
Oh Lilly is walking properly now! She just started on Wednesday! its so cute! She is still crawling more than walking but she is so good now!
Steff, glad you are all better. We've all had horendous colds, apart from Elliott. OH has now got bronchitis. He's a bit nervous as he's going for the snip tomorrow. After all the new pregnancies on here I think we need to make sure there are no accidenbts in our house!
Harvey now walks everywhere. He doesn't like crawling any more. At Elliott's football match this morning he seemed to think it was a great game to try to run on the pitch and make us run and grab him. He has just pulled all the book off the shelf and is now getting the bowls out of the cupboard in the kitchen! I know what you mean about eyes in the back of your head Steff.
For Harvey's birthday we're just having family round for a joint party for him and Elliott as their birthday's are only 9 days apart. Elliott is also going to the fair with his friends and having a sleepover. I must be mad!
Got to go and police Harvey while Ian finishes cooking the roast dinner.
I had posted last week but stupid computer lost it.
Gorgeous pics of a little cutie there Lou! Well, DJ is such a loving little mummy's boy, i'm used to boys now, and not sure what do do with a baby girl! haha. I would be thrilled either way though, as long as the baby's healthy and well, that's all i'm bothered about!
Kath, good luck to your OH with the snip. Ouch. Hope he feels better soon (in all areas. Ahem)
I feel pants myself. Woke up yesterday with a stiff neck. Dunno what I must've been doing during the night! It still kills today. Taking minimal pain killers to help, and have used my massage chair to try and alleviate the pain! Also got a cold, so also feeling a bit sorry for myself!
Decided to jack in my college course already. Its gonna be too much work i've realised, and I still haven't managed to find a placement where DJ can accompany me. So gonna cut my losses I think.
Been on our hols with the whole of my family for the past week, lets just say it wasn't quite as I had expected it was going to be but me, Baz and Oscar managed to have a good time anyway! I feel hubby and Oz have finally bonded really well as Oscar was always really clingy with me (think because of bf) and now he's spent a lot of time with his daddy he will go to him if he's hurt or not feeling particularly well.
Em - I hope the neck improves soon, I keep getting a pain in my back on the right-hand side I think it's probably where the ligaments are softening up and I'm still carrying a rather heavy child on my left hip.
Can't wait 'til Wed when I should see my next little baby and prove to myself that I def am preggers. I've definately got a fatter belly now but won't believe everythings progressing well in there until I see the proof! The one thing I'm not looking forward to is the busy week ahead, still got to sort out food for Oscar's party on Friday and make his birthday cake - I'm making an Iggle Piggle cake but will be working from my own plans rather than instructions like I normally do! Also making his birthday card, which I must get done some time this week, and need to make some cakes for friends who are coming to celebrate with us on Friday....who says you need rest when you're pregnant!!!!!
Rach, how do you do it all?? You really are a Stepford wife. I never have time to sleep let alone MAKE CAKES!! I've gotta get 3 birthday cakes for DJ, cos we have 2 days out with baby pals and his party- we're getting a special one made for that.
The neck is no better. I can't look left or right without an immense, agonising sharp pain. So driving is rather dangerous. Having to just go in straight directions everywhere.
Good luck for the scan hun, it's always lovely to see the little wriggler isn't it? Are you returning to work Rach?
Hey big drama last night, at 5am, DH and I woke in shock as a blue flashing light was showing through the curtains, and sirens were blaring. I thought we were on fire! Looked out of the window, and the neighbour opposite's taxi cab was on fire! OMG! DJ woke up too, so we all stood on the step watching the firemen put the fire out (nosey neighbours, we are!). Luckily our house is set back about 60metres from the fire, so we were quite safe.
Finally, we booked Centerparcs for Jan today! Cannot wait! They do some lovely pregnancy treatments in the Aqua Sana Spa, and there is shedloads of babystuff for DJ. Even a creche and babysitting. We also went mad and booked an executive lodge with a sauna. Yippee! Mind you, I don't think you are supposed to go in them when preggers are you?
No you're not allowed saunas Em, I hate not being able to have the water hot enough in a bath to nearly scold you!! Very jealous of you having the treatments in Jan. Hubby bought me a back massage voucher for our wedding anniversary (last Dec) and I still haven't used it, I really need to find out if I can still have it whilst preggers or if I can change it to something else that I can have.
I'll hopefully only have to return to work once my little ones are more grown up, we are coping with finances at the moment, although I'm not sure how that will go when there's 2 of them - hopefully I'll have another boy and save on having to buy a shed load more clothes!!!
Well done to DJ, it's so great when they are walking. Oscar is so stable now, he can crouch down and pick something up without falling over. Sometimes he crouches and eats things from his bowl on the floor!
I've got a few cakes to make as I'm having friends around on Friday so I'm making cupcakes for the kids, cupcakes and a lemon loaf cake for the adults, then I've got to make Oscar's birthday cake. Plan is to make his birthday cake tomorrow eve and ice it Thurs, then make the other cakes Thurs, shouldn't be too difficult as long as the decorating goes to plan
