 HAPPY BIRTHDAY HARRY AND FFION!

October is here already!  I can't believe haw fast that has flown!

Well here I am, at my old desk, same old BS, hating every minute.  Emily was crying when I left her at the nursery, which set me off.  I got to work far too early, so had to twiddle my thumbs until 9 o'clock.  I'm going to have to indulge in some retail therapy to make myself feel better.  Roll on 5 o'clock!

Em, congrats on DJ's walking!  Clever boy!

Rach, get you and all your baking!  I'm just learning at the moment, I'm hardly the domestic godess!

Lou, I love the pics of Lilly!  She is so beautiful!

Kath, you have really got your hands full with your boys!

Gotta go, they expect me to work here!

Love to all

Steff and Emily

OMG! Is it Oct already?? I go back to work this month. Boo.

Happy Birthday Harry and Ffion from me, DJ and Jellybean!

Steff, you'll soon get back into work. Just think of all those cups of coffee you can have and leave at a low height! All that gossip without a baby tumbling over and screaming in the background. A lunch break without loads of mess everywhere.

I know, Rach is the domestic goddess. Rach if you get chance, would you post a simple (cake) recipe or two on here? I'd love to have a go. I made a delicious banana and orange cake a while ago, but i've misplaced the recipe!

Have a good day all

I'll get on to the recipes Em, I can already think of one that always gets great comments and is easy to make.

Had my hospital appointment today. The midwife I saw first was lovely and chatted away to us. She then made sure we were put to the front of the queue for the scan as we were supposed to have that before seeing her but the receptionist messed up. Had the scan which they spent a lot of time over so got to see baby for ages - she pointed out the hands, feet, face, bum etc - much better than with Oscar. Then had to go back to the jolly midwife who sorted out a few more things. Then she passed us on to my consultant who spent very little time with us and said she'd see me again at 40wks if I hadn't already had baby!!!

Anyway they have changed my due date to the 13th April so according to the scan I'm only 12+2wks, gone back a week but not too bothered 'cause I was expecting a change and at least I'm over 12wks!

Banana and orange cake sounds lovely Em, if you find the recipe I'd like to try it!

Better go hubby is supposed to be looking after Oscar but Oscar seems to like to try sitting on me even though I've got a laptop sitting on my lap!

I'll have a hunt for the recipe Rach. It's in a really old cookbook circa the second world war. All the measurements are in lbs and ozs.

Glad your scan went well too hun. It's always a bit nerve wracking till you see the little wriggler I think.

You aren't that far behind me really Rach. Going by last time, you could be having a March baby! hehe. I'm 15+5 now. Mind you, they put me back 9 days too! I feel like i've been pg for ages now. THink thats probably due to me doing the test about 5 minutes after we did the deed! haha.

I love it when the men are supposed to be looking after the baby. My DH sat there tonight transfixed to Charlie and Lola on CBeebies, and meanwhile DJ was in the kitchen cupboards, dragging bottles of fabric conditioner out. I know, we really need to put locks on the doors. Wanted to get an alarmed stair gate to put at top of stairs, but they're out of stock! Grr.

HAving a little birthday treat tomorrow for Deej, Meeting a couple of his friends at a new soft play centre and taking a cake and goody bags. Should be good. DJ can practice his new walking skills.

HAve a good un

HAPPY BIRTHDAY OSCAR AND LILLIANA!

Em, I know you listed all the good things about a baby-free zone, but I'd rather be guarding my coffee and talking ga-ga than gossiping!  I'm still hating it here, I so want to be home with Emily.  I don't think the partners have even noticed I'm back.  I feel so valued - NOT!!!

Jeans for Genes day today, I'm in my jeans for work, and Emily had to dress as Fifi or a Flowertot in nursery today.  I had to Google Fifi!

I'm going to take the 30th (Em's b'day) off.  It was killing me that I was going to miss it, so I've told (not requested) them I'm having the day off.  Mark is taking the day off too and we are going to my parents' house for the day for a little party.  Must let my parents know.. lol!

Rach amd Kirsty, enjoy your day with your little ones

Love to all

Steff - sorry to hear you're not enjoying yourself back at work. I must say I can't think of anything worse than leaving Oscar but I know some people need to go back to work for money or their own sanity!!

We have had a lovely morning with Oscar. He had a few friends over which has kept him very busy and he is now having his sleep so I have put my feet up and hubby (who took the morning off and doesn't work on a Friday afternoon) is doing the ironing!

Kirsty - I hope Lilli enjoys her day too.

I managed to make Oscar's birthday cake and I must say after I'd finished it last night I felt pretty pleased with myself, although Igglepiggle's blanket is pink rather than red . I'll try and get a pic uploaded, probably on Facebook as it's a little easier to do on there - I'll have to take a pic first though I suppose!

Just think, what were you doing a year ago today, and isn't a birthday party so much easier than the whole giving birth thing!  Have fun.  X

Happy Birthday to Liliana, Oscar (yest) and Lilly (tod)!!!!

Rach, glad it all went well. Good on you for taking a break. DJ had a few early gifts today (clothes) and is wearing a lovely new fleece sleepsuit in his cot as we speak (thanks Nanny P/Grandad G!)

Ordered DJ's cake today. A rainbow with "Happy 1st Birthday Daniel" Iced onto it! Can't wait to cut it, I LOVE ICING!!

Steff, i'm sure work will get better given time. Anyway, at the end of the day, most of us only work for the dollar. If you like your job, that's just a bonus in my opinion! I just tot up the wages at the end of each day and think, well thats £X amount for the pot! Bet Em looked grgeous in her fifi outfit. Never watched it myself. DJ likes:

Big cook little cook

Bob the builder

Space Pirates

I like

Roary the racing car. (peter kay is so funny!)

Gonna go have nice bath now and give self some TLC. Wich I could have glass of champagne.....

Have a good weekend all!

Em 16 weeks! X

Hey girls,

Well I was up all night with DJ, as he has a vomiting bug. Poor baby. He woke upa ll confused with chunks of carrot in his hair. I had to shower him down at 12.30am this morning.

Bit of drama! The police just came round conducting house to house enquiries about the taxi fire the other night. It is now confirmed to be ARSON! Unfortunately, DH and I saw nothing! So weren't much help!

Can't believe ARSON is going on in our nice quiet cul de sac. Unbelievable!

Speak soon, think DJ is awakening!

Hi All

How is everyone??  A VERY Happy Birthday to all the babes who have just turned 1 and Lillys says 'ta' for all her Happy Birthday's!  Congrats to DJ for walking before your 1st birthday you clever boy!

Rach - you are doemstic goddess!  I am so impressed with your cake making skills!  And I am glad everything went well at your scan!  So are you on for a vbac then?

Steff - hope you don't feel too bad been back at work!  I had very mixed feelings but now I love going in (it is only for 1 day though te he he he)!

Well Lilly had a fabby birthday!  Her Oma (ducth Grandma) and Tante (ducth Aunty) flew over from Holland for 1 day which was great!  My parents also drove 4 hours from up North too and my bro also came!  We had a lovely morning opening presents and then we went to an Italian for lunch!  In the afternoon we did the cake and Lilly din't have a clue what was going on ha ha ha!  I did bake the cake myself and I was panicking because I thought it would be too dry but it was lovely!  Then all my Mummy friends came in the afternoon!  Phew!  very busy day and I was shattered at the end of it!

Mum and Dad went home today and then this afternoon we went to Lilly's friend's birthday party!  They were in the hospital at the same time!  So now I am doubly shattered!

We bought Lilly a rocking horse from Mamas & Papas and she loves it!  She can't climb on it so she walks over to it and looks at us so we have to put her on it.  She rocks herself and then climbs off!  So cute!

Happy Birthday to anymore babs that are turning 1 soon!  And take care all!

xx

PS Ohh Em drama on your road!!

I bet Lilly had a lovely time Lou, I love the pics. I really must get some uploaded but we had an awful night with Oscar last night so I'm pretty shattered! Ended up with around 2 1/2hrs sleep and took him to the 'minor injury clinic' about 1/2hr away from us cause he had really shallow breathing and would only sleep for around 10/15mins at a time! The doc says he seems quite phlegmy and although he wasn't overly concerned he said it's something to keep an eye on. I'm taking him to see my doc today for another problem (which I think my be related) so hopefully she'll shed more light on the subject!

Definately on for a vbac, or a 'trial of labour' (or whatever the consultant said it was called!). She said 7 in 1000 women's scar on their womb will tear during labour and that increases if you go overdue. I'm going to speak to my own mw later on in the pregnancy and see exactly what'll happen to me when I go into labour cause if they are going to make me lie on a bed and monitor me from the moment I get into hospital I'm going to leave it as long as possible before I go in! At least I will recognise the signs of things being the same as when I had Oscar, if I get that same pain I will go straight for another section as I think baby being forced out the wrong way around will more than likely put a lot of pressure on the scar.

Anyway hope you all had a good weekend. I'm hoping Oscar will want to sleep soon so I can return to the land of nod myself but at the moment he certainly isn't showing any signs of tiredness

Hi girls

Lou, what lovely pics!  You all look like you had a fantastic time!

Em and Rach, how horrible the babies are sick.  I hope they are better soon.  Emily has had a nasty cold which has gone to her eyes.  I'm taking her to the doc this afternoon.  Poor little mite couldn't open her eyes this morning, they were so gunked up.  She also had a temp of over 38 degrees yesterday so I put her to bed with just a vest on last night.  She has been waking up in the night, not properly awake but crying.  It doesn't take long to settle her down, but she will only settle for me, not DH.

Just had DS to the dentist for an extraction.  I forgot all about his appointment and sent him to school, then had to phone the school to ask them to have him ready to collect in an hour!  Oops!

Got to go and get organised

Love to all, and get better soon

Oscar seems a lot better now thanks Steff, I don't really know what it was but thankfully he's gone back to his usual self and went down easily tonight, just keeping my fingers crossed that he stays asleep for the whole night. I don't think I could cope with another sleepless night!

Oz has got to go to see a paed at some point though. I took him to the docs this pm as he has been having odd 'moments', all of a sudden he will go really still, act as though he is trying to stop himself being sick and then go really sleepy for 10 or so mins. My doc (who was 45mins late for our appointment as per usual!) said she thought he might be having a sort of fit and an absence, so she is referring us to the hospital where he will more than likely have to have a load of tests.

I know what you mean about forgetting appointments Steff, I'm sure I'm going to forget that Oscar is having his boosters on Thurs, got too much to think about at the moment!

Show/hide user stats

Oh Rach, Im sorry to hear about Oscar being sick. Poor little lad. Good luck for the paediatrician. Be assertive too hon. Don't let them fob you and Oz off! I hate it when they try and shove you out cos the next patient's waiting. Is his temp high?

Steff, poor Em, that's horrid when their eyes get stuck together. Have you tried raising the top of her bed (I use the yellow pages and phone book) and puttin some baby olbas on her mattress? I find that helps a bit with the breathing.

DJ had to have 3 showers today as explosive diarrhoea went right up his back twice and once up his front. He seems ok in spirit though. Have had mountains of washing all around the house. Like a chinese laundry. One good side effect though, DH has sorted out my Mr. Tumble dryer! Had to stop him making a hole in garage wall though. Suggested he hang vent hose out of window. He said window didn't open that it was a 'fake' window. I investigated and it DOES open, but was covered in a billion spiders. So maybe that's why he was reluctant to fiddle with it...

Aw Lou, Lilly's pics are ace. She looks so pretty. The cake you made looks wicked.

Now girls, MMR, what are you doing? It scares the crap out of me that it might make DJ autistic. I keep ignoring any mention of it at the clinic. I can't make decision. I'm 60/40 for having it, but worried about the negative reports...

Did I mention that the stupid NHS sent for DJ for his next set of jabs on his birthday. AS IF. What a lovely birthday present a massive needle in the thigh would make. I don't think.

Right off to bed. Like you rach and steff, sleep is a luxury at the moment. DJ was up 10 times on sat night, and 3 times last night.

Em 16+2 X

Hi Steph,

It's great to hear from you again. I'm sure I can speak for all of us on hear and say we have missed you!

You'll have to keep us updated on the possible pregnancy front.

Em - Oscar ended up in the bath first thing this morning because he had an explosive nappy all the way up his back. Hubby called me in from my 5 minutes extra in bed to ask if I could help him! Men!! Glad to hear DJ seems to be doing ok despite the diarrhoea, maybe it is helping him get rid of whatever is in his system quickly.

On the MMR front I am definately getting it done for Oscar. A few of us from my massage group discussed it a few months ago and everyone agreed that it was perfectly safe. It was 1 doctor who said it caused autism and he has apparently now been struck off anyway. Someone was also saying that if you get the single jabs they are brought in from somewhere else and are not necessarily as safe as you think they might be. As far as I have always been concerned autism is something completely in-built from birth, although I could be wrong!

Time to get ready for badminton. Hope you all have a good evening and get some sleep Em!

Hi girls

Just a quick one whilst Emily is still sleeping.  I'm not in work today coz she is ill.  The nursery won't take her, and I don't want to leave her anyway.

STEPH!!  Welcome back!  We've all missed you.  Sorry to hear Harry hasn't been too well, hope he is better soon.

Rach, I think Em has diarrhoea too.  THey never get just the sniffles do they?  They have to go the whole hog with the symptoms poor mites.  Hope Oscar is better soon.

Em, good idea propping the cot up, but my little freak doesn't sleep at any particular end of the cot.  She will switch ends several times during the night, so much so, we don't put top sheets or blankets on the bed for her.  She cuddles into a blanket and I creep in when I go to bed to throw a quilt over her.  DH said we need hydraulic jacks on each corner!

MMR, I am going for it.  THe risk of the jab is far less than the risk of not having it.

Got to go

Love to all

Steff and Emily
