Forum Updates - Help Guide

Hi ladies

Hope you're all well and looking forward to the weekend.

I met up with my friend yesterday who had twins on leap year day this year.  I saw them last when they were a few weeks old (she doesn't live near me, its not that I'm a terrible friend, honest!).  Anyway, they were a decent size for twins when born - 5lbs 13oz and 6lbs 4oz, that was a whole lot of baby she was carrying, especiaaly as they were around 4 weeks early!!  But when I saw them then they still looked small next to Jay.  Not any more, nearly died when I saw the size of them yesterday - they're massive.  They're non-identical and very different (though both boys) and one is bigger than the other but even the smaller one is way bigger than Jay.  They're only just 6 months and the bigger one is something like 19lbs.  What a pair of lovely boys they are though.  Looking at the 3 of them you'd think Jay was the youngest by quite a way in size but then off he goes, crawling and standing up and you can then tell the age difference the other way.

Great news, got my buggy brolly from my competition win on here.  What a great idea they are.  Still, don't want to try it just now, hope it stays dry!

Hi all, havn't been on all week as been really busy! Finally got everything ready for Chanel starting secondary school, i didn't realise how stressful it could be getting everything especially with 2 littluns in tow.

I had my smear test results back today and it's showing abnormal cells so have got to go and have another coloscopy done (had one about 5 years ago). I'm crapping myself, it's not very pleasant and i passed out last time, i'd rather give birth any day!! It's going to be some time in Sept just have to wait for appointment, i'd rather have it done now and get it over with! So please ladies if you havn't had a smear test or are over due for one and putting it off, please please have one. They really are so important and if abnormal cells are left untreated they can turn into cancer, i had my first abnormal one at 25 so it can happen at any age x

Joanne glad you got your brolly, was worth pestering tb for in the end.

Can't remember what i read on last page! sorry. Hope all mums and babies are well.

Hi all,

sorry for the long absence, Isabella has been really poorly.  She was taken to hospital last week in an ambulance, scared the poo out of me and her dad.  She had a temp but was going blue on her hands, feet and lips and was shaking -  turns out she had a water infection and thats what was causing all the symptoms.  I've never been so scared, and now bless her she has a crappy cold as well!

Emma, you and your OH should each put £1 for every pound of weight you lose into a jar and the one who has lost the most by the 22nd sept gets the money to do what they like with.  I'm off to WW next tues to try and get the rest of this fat off.

We are having a joint 1st birthday party for the three girls, manic and mayham is bound to erupt!

Going to have an early night now, i've caught Isabella's cold and i feel like poo.

Have a nice weekend ladies.

xx

Evening all

Oh god Jemma, that sounds awful with Isabella.  Apart from her cold I hope she's on the mend, what a worrying time for you.  Big hugs to you and Isabella, hope you're both feeling better soon.  Btw - yep I reckon mayhem  will ensue at 3-way party but it will certainly be memorable.

Debbie, bloody hell love thats terrible.  Glad you're having your coloscopy soon, the sooner the better.  Ask for all the painkillers in the world before the procedure, you shouldn't be passing out from something like that, they should do all they can to make you comfortable.  I've had my smear recently and it came back normal but ladies please all heed Debbie's words - if you're putting off or are due one soon please get one as soon as.  We all know its not the best thing in the world but its a few minutes of slight discomfort which is so important.  Debbie, if you have any fears, aprhension, want to let off steam etc before the procedure drop me a line - here, facebook or email.

Well, think I'll finish my wine and go to bed.

Night all xx

Hey All,

Wow, can't believe how long it has been since I was last online - time passes so quickly!

And all our babies are nearly one! I'm really looking forward to the girls joint party! If all the different family members can put their differences aside - then it will be a wonderful day!

Debbie - sorry to hear about your test results. I always get tongue tied in these situations as I knever know what to say x On the smear test front - Until I changed doctors - I was told that if you were under 25 you would not get a smear on the NHS - thankfully I've changed doctors since then and they are of the opinion that once you are sexually active you should have regular smear tests. Weird how no two doctors are the same

Has anyone else found that they are a little more clumsy since having a baby - or is it just me???? I managed to spill adrink over my bloody laptop - so now I am probably going to have to send it off for another repair - which means that I will be without a computer for 6 weeks - these things never get turned around quickly! I seem to be knocking things over all the time

Anyhow, I have yet to give Kya a sandwich - I think that I will try tomorrow as she really seems to get a kick out of feeding herself and thankfully she is not too messy - ok well not so messy if there is no gravy on her plate! Jemma suggested giving her grated cheese and apple as a snack - which went down really well - I think that I am just going to have to trust that she will be okay with new things - I just worry as her front tooth has only just broken through her gum!

On to more exciting news - Kya was interviewed for a new pilot TV reality series (I'm not sure how much I can say because it has not been commissioned yet) and was sucessful in obtaining a place on the shoot which took place today! It was a very long day and she seemed to have had a lot of fun. Hopefully if the programme gets commissioned she will be invited back to complete a further 12 shows which will be nice. I've got my fingers crossed and should find out in 6 weeks whats happening.  I might have a little TV star on my hands

Babbling now as I'm creamed

Glad to see that all mummies and babies are doing well!

Hugs and Kisses

Evening all. Just a quick post to mention a friend of mine, Laura Chapman will be joining us on here shortly. We were discussing today about how we don't really know anyone else with young babies and I said that's why I find this forum such a great help with you ladies! Anyway so she said she'd like to join up and I've sent her the link, her daughter is Grace, she's a few weeks younger than Charley x

The more the merrier!

Show/hide user stats

Jemma, sorry to hear about Isabella it must of been very worrying for you all. Glad she's on the mend x

Thanks Joanne/Joanna, i'm feeling ok today about it all and i know in the long run it's the best thing. I think i passed out last time from shock more than anything as it wasn't that painful. I made the mistake of going on my own which i def won't be doing this time! I've decided not to worry about it for now and just see what happens on the day.

Joanna how exciting that Kya may be on tv, i hope it all goes ahead and she gets to be a star. Joint party sounds great to it must be really nice having sisters with babies the same age.

Jo i'm sure all the ladies will welcome Laura and Grace, like you said the more the merrier. I only have one friend with a baby around the same age as Callie too but i don't see her that much as she's more a friend of a friend. I really don't know how i managed without this site when having my other 2, it really is a great help to come on here and vent off steam or just to chat and get advice.

xx

Hi everyone,

Debbie I hope everything goes ok for you.

Can't remember if I said but I had my smear a few months ago and a check really to make sure all was ok there as I thought there was a lot of scar tissue still and it wasn't till the nurse was telling me she could still see where stitches were still healing (6 months after the birth!) and she guessed I'd had well over 20 internal stitches that I realised how bad the tearing was!!! Quite glad I didn't realise at the time. Might have to have a good long chat with Doc about a sun-roof option if we decide to have #2!!!!

I've defo appreciated this site I still keep thinking of random things I need to know, the latest one is where do you take a baby for a haircut!?!? A friend just said to do it yourself but I can barely cut paper straight!!! Decided to leave it to grow for now it's only just over the top of his ears and is so lovely and fuzzy!

It's crappy and grey here, Matt's asleep, we went to a 40th wedding party last night so he was up till 10 pm! He was a star and just happily got passed around but he's slept loads today which is nice xx

Show/hide user stats

Lauren they would let you have an elective c-section if you wanted it. My friend tore really bad and they sowed it up wrong and she couldn't go toilet without laxitives (sorry if tmi) so she had to have an operation to have it recut and sown up again when her daughter was about 4 months old. She said afterwards it was like having a baby all over again without the nice result of a baby at the end. She is now 6 months pregnant with number 2 and they did offer her a section but she's decided to do it naturally and have an episiotomy. Fingers crossed for her that all goes well this time.

It's raining here at the mo, we took kids to the park and was only there 10 mins and it started raining. They were very cross at having to leave so soon so i've promised to take them on tues if nice weather. Eldest is back to school on Tuesday, really not looking forward to the early mornings again .

xx

Just typed a whole post and computer crashed. Was replying to Lara's facebook message about flying. I took my Maclaren buggy which you can take all the way to the gate, but you don't get it back till the carousel at the other end which is a bit of a pain if it's late at night cos you then have to carry a cross tired baby! Dummy or bottle for take off and landing to stop ears popping. They make you taste your bottles at customs but I didn't have to taste her food. If you are going somewhere hot then just make sure you give her lots of water throughout the day, and lastly, I put Molly into French time and just moved her routine forward an hour which was fine. Anything else I might have missed?
How's the bump coming on Lara? x
Show/hide user stats

Hi all, thanks for reply Polly, didn't realise you dont get buggy back til the carousel, that's a pain as it is just me and Molly going to France and she is very heavy now!  So, I can take her water in a bottle and add powder on plane?  Hope there is a nice understanding person sitting next to me who likes babies!

Sorry to hear about Isabella, must have been so scary!  Lucky Kya being a potential baby tv star!  If or when you can...tell us more!

Think I have managed to persuade Ben that a phil and ted will be the best option for a double buggy, and that I should have a brand new one as my pram and bujggy are both second hand!  Does anyone have any opinions on double buggys, feel free to tell me what you think!

Im back at work this week...cant believe the holidays are over!  At least it is only 2 days a week, so not too bad.

It just made me shudder, your talk of tearing and stitches!  Im so scared of stirrups and stitches...because my labour was so quick I never had  any pain relief so refused the stitches as I could feel everything.  So am worried what will happen this time as I am now smaller down there than before (sorry if TMI!).

Show/hide user stats

Lara you should be fine this time having baby if you didn't have stitches last time. I didn't have any with Callie and she was 9lb 2oz!! It all depends on how relaxed you are and making sure you listen when the midwives tell you to not push and pant, the longer it takes for the head to come out the better even tho it stings like hell, Callie's head was 37cm's so not small and she came out with her head sideways!! Did you tell your boss about pregnancy in the end? If so what did she say?

Show/hide user stats
Sorry Lara, didn't mean to scare you or bring all those memories back!! I'm sure you'll be fine and they'll look after you really well and be more careful since your last experience xx

Wooooohoooooo Damon back to school today!!!  Unbelievably its his last senior year and he'll be doing GCSEs next June/July, how scary.

Well its very quiet on here, where is everyone (probs on Facebook)?

Hi all

Paige is playing play do and just dropped a load on the floor and shouted "OH MY GOD!" doesnt it sound awful when a child says it!! I told her not to say it, its naughty! poor kid, she is probs thinking "mummy says it all the time!"

I had the home visit from her nursey teacher yesterday. she goes in on friday for an hour then starts properly on monday! i cant believ its come so quick! She has to wear the school t-shirt and jumper which cost me 311.50! i think its daft for nursery, they will get ruined but hey, rule are rules.Only thing is, the uniform starts at 3-4 years and she is still in 18-24 month clothes so its all a bit big!

Emma she looks really cute even if the t-shirt is a little big!

I have to ask, how do you cope doing weight watchers.  I started this week and i am starving!  Determind to stick to it though as i really want to lose 2-3 stone.

Well officially back at work as of today.  Three days a week and not happy about it etiher but ho hum!

Jemma, i only went back on monday after 8 weeks off!! ooops. Im afraid i actually find it quite easy. I dont have many days where i feel hungry but i guess my body is probs used to it. The only thing i can suggest is filling up on veg and water or sugar free squash. Have a word with your leader too as im sure they will have some more ideas. I got one of those monthly passes this week and if you get one between 24th august and 24th october you can claim a free starter pack that has the journal, shopping guide and eating out guide in it and a free pen, its worth £9.95! or if you already have one you canget a free copy of "cook" instead also worth £9.95!! I love a freebie! lol x

Emma she does look super cute! I would prefer Charley to wear a uniform as one of my favourite pairs of trousers for her came back with purple paint on them. I wouldn't mind if they were dark trousers but they're lime green and white check! Thing is you can't say anything to the nursery as they warn you not to dress them in their best clothes.

She's being dropped down to 3 days a week at nursery which will save us £160 a month! My brother is going to have her 1 day a week and in exchange I'm going to go round and do some cleaning for him, so it's a trade off!

My eldest enjoyed her 1st day at high school yesterday, i was a nervous wreck all day even though i took her and picked her up. She walked this morning with a couple of friends, it felt really odd that she's all grown up all of a sudden. I don't even let her go to the shops on her own usually and the school is much further away! Have to get used to it sometime i suppose.

Emma I have Codie's nursery teacher coming tomorrow. She doesn't start until the 15th for 2 mornings that week and then every morning from the 22nd. I'm not sure if Codie has to wear uniform, guess i will find out tomorrow!

Jemma i have been attempting a diet for a few weeks now but am failing miserably. I'm doing ok today so far but it's usually the evenings i struggle with.

Oh forgot to say Callie has started playing peek a boo, it's so cute and she proper giggles when she does it. She blows kisses aswell, well does the hand action anyway.
