Hiya,

Lisa - I'm glad I'm not the only one. I got upset last night because Kamran woke up at 2:3am and didn't go back to sleep until nearly 6 this morning. I ended up walking away because I was getting stressed and I felt like I couldn't do anything right for him. Turned out he just wanted more food. Ended up feeding him every 45 mins! Was so so tired, ended up sleeping until 5pm (well with several feeding breaks).
With the bottle he was perfectly happy and then went straight back on the boob after. I'm still waiting to get my breast pump. Only ordered it early Fri morning and they estimate up to 5 working days for delivery so with the bank holiday weekend I might not get it until this Friday. Can't wait. Have told bf that I'm having a night off when it does come. Haven't slept properly in about 5 weeks....
Have you tried infacol for Alex's wind? I give Kamran it and it's helped so much. He used to really cry when he needed to fart but now he just does a little groan. Helps with the burps too. I have found that he will eat too much and make himself sick so if he's on the boob more than 20 mins I take him off and wind him and then if he starts rooting again I'll let him have more, but most of the time he's had enough and was only on there sucking in his sleep.
I can't believe it's been 3 weeks either, but at the same time it feels like forever.

Abbi - I think I'm going to try giving Kamran a boob feed and expressing the other boob at the same time so I can take a bottle out with me so I don't have to worry about breast feeding while out because to be honest it's the thought of him needing a feed that's put me off popping out. Might be easier for you too you won't be as tied down... I'll have to see if it works as planned.

Labour vibes to all still waiting...
Hope all Mummys and babies are well.
Kate I hope you're well and have got JJ in your arms now.
I'm off to try and get a bit more kip while Kamran is asleep. I'm half expecting another crap night again tonight so hoping if I get enough sleep now I'll be ok.

I have the matrix cup model where it goes underneath and round the sides...it fits in the car but just doesn't feel too secure!! It has a lot of movement so I am scared if I go round a corner then the seat might tip over too. I am panicking about but Steve trying to calm me down - if need be then we are going to order a new car seat and have that one as a pram instead of a proper travel system. Am calling John Lewis tomorrow to arrange a chat about the fitting...they are normally really good so if need be then might be popping into the store.

Has anyone heard from Kate - really hope she has JJ cos she has been through the mill recently.

Bloody hell Nikki - how did you manage not to kill Kamran? I am not looking forward to the sleepless nights...the lil cheeky one lead you into a false sense of security and allowed you a few more nights of sleep. Hope he settles down for you!!

Still nothing to report from me. Been getting odd twinges and everything feels really low but apart from that - nothing major!!!

Love to all,

Cathy xxx

Cathy the main thing that's been getting me through the last few nights is the thought of the breast pump and a decent nights sleep. I sit and think about it when he's latched on for the 20th time at god knows what time in the morning. LOL.
Felt bad last night walking away when he was crying, but just walking out of the room to get a glass of water really helped, I was probably only outta the room for a min but felt so much more able to handle it when I walked back.
The sleepless nights are so worth it. As much as they don't feel like it at the time, when I see him sleeping peacefully it's brilliant. And besides it's not like he's going to be like this forever. He'll start sleeping through (hopefully) at some point.

catherine..i think they do have some movement in them...after all seat belts do dont they? but i can assure you, they dont tip! your just being a concerned mum, i would go have a chat with john lewis tho, they will go thro it with you and make you feel more confident!

Nikki, im totally with you, and its nice knowing your going thro the same (dont mean that to sound bad, just that its nice having someone to talk to)...so i cant be doing something wrong! i think its breast fed babies, as we cant see what they take and the comfort they get from it... they must be going thro a growth spurt... as our 2 our the same age i got myself all upset again today.. he seems to be wanting to feed lots, and is crying lots to, might try the infacol but my sister told me breast fed babies dont get wind.... i must be that tired that i dont know if shes right or not, also she said its most prob something im eating...now that made me feel awful! this breast feeding isn't as easy as they make out but i really want to make ago at it... glad ive got you to compare and moan with. i also agree about feeding in publc...i just couldn't do it... my bust is way to big, my breast is well over 2 times bigger than ALexs head the bloody HV told me to spoon feed him or a cup...rather than use a bottle...told her theres no way i am feeding him milk from a spoon...can you imagine how llong that would take.

makes sense what you said about the time feeding.... as alex seems to feed longer...and at times ive felt the milk that comes out, hes just been storing in his mouth! i'lll give what you said a try!

sorry have to go...Alex wants feeding again

x x

Sorry to gatecrash, i'm from due Sep but had Harri 3 weeks early.

Lisa -  I am to breastfeeding and just wanted to say that breastfed babies can get wind and still be sick. They just arn't as prone to getting it as bottle fed babies. Harri get's wind from both ends every time she feed's and projectile vomited every now and again. Don't feel bad about what you are eating. It is probably not that, you can eat pretty much what you like and have the odd couple of glasses of wine ( not that i'm an alcoholic but it was the first thing I asked the breastfeeding specialist!!)

Hang in there it will get better, but don't let anyone make you feel bad if you decide that it isn't for you.

Take Care

Poor little Masons all bunged up today, we went to watch sophie yest in a dance show and the rom was red hot so think that is what has caused it

Lis + Nikki, have you noticed a change in how alert your babys are? Mason is spending loads of time awake now and looking around taking everything in, hes such a cutie he really makes me chuckle, cant believe he will be 4 weeks old on sat.. i best start think about booking my 6week post natal check , not looking 4ward to that!!!

think im gunna buy some weighing scales today so i can see what he weighs, its really annoying that he hasnt been weighed since been 1week old, and next weigh ins not til 10th sept  useless nhs!!!!!!!!

well fingers crossed there will be some more babies born this week, not many to go now

Hi Ladies,

Well, had some sharp pains this morning and feeling very uncomfortable now, 11 days overdue!! Don't know if i'll get back on here later, will be busy checking i have things ready for tomorrows planned induction, so thought i'd post a message early.

It seems such a long time since finding out and now its here, always thought I'd have it early but being 11 days over its proved me wrong!! I can't wait to find out what we're having its been so long and now its here I can't quite believe it. Looking forward to holding our baby and getting used to being a new mum never thought my time would come

Good luck to all remaining mums to be, speak to you soon

Hiya,

Lisa - I know what you mean. I think it's kinda nice that we're both having the same problems and our babies are the same age. Gives us someone to compare with. LOL. Although obviously not having any problems would be better but I think you get what I'm trying to say.
Breast fed babies can get wind. They can still swallow air while they're sucking... It's just not supposed to be as bad. I think some things you eat can affect them because it all goes into our milk, but I don't see that Alex would have wind all the time because of what you're eating because I'm sure you've got some variety in your diet. I know what you mean about it not being as easy, but imagine having to sterilise all those bottles and teats all the time. And having to make up the bottles in the night...
I've got the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles. Didn't have a problem with it the other day. Will have to see how it goes when he has a whole feed out of a bottle.

Well I had a much better night last night. Kamran didn't wake up as normal! He did have feeds every 2 1/2 hours during the night, but he went back to sleep straight after so I feel almost refreshed! LOL.

Sommer - 7 hours! God that sounds nice. LOL.
Yeah Kamran's definitely more alert when he's awake and is spending longer awake than he used to. Are the HV's not seeing you at all until 10th Sept? I've got mine again on Monday.

Amanda - Welcome back! Must be a busy household! How are your other kids taking to Kingsley?

Hiya Georgena welcome to the thread!

Sarah hope this is the start of things for you.

I had a text from Kate last night she was still in hospital. Her blood pressure had dropped back down so they didn't induce her. She said she was going to see the consultant first thing this morning and not let him leave until he induces her! LOL. Have text her again to see if there's anymore news and my message has been delivered so guess we'll wait and see....

Right guess I best go change the nappy that Kamran's spent the last half hour filling. So funny the noises he makes while he's doing it!

hello ladies

got a bad case of the baby blues 2day just feeling really down and like a crap mum leaving taya 2 cry while i sort blake out or telling blake off 4 being 2 rough around her and it,s not his fault he,s only 2 bless him. this breast feeding in the day is killing me taya was on me from 12 noon yesterday till about 8pm with tiny little breaks like 5 or 10 mins long she doesnt want 2 feed all the time just suck and she wont have a dummy.

On the bright side she has put on weight she,s 7lb 13oz now and i get her weighed again next thursday ur health visitor sounds a bit rubbish sommer making u wait all that time taya was weighed at 5 days and again 2day at 11 days then every thursday.

Hope ur getting a bit more sleep nikki and liz my problem is the other way round taya,s an angel at night and it would be fine in the day if i didnt have blake aswel.

Still no news from kate sorry 4 the moan Good luck 4 2morro sarah

Abbi - I'm sure you're not a crap Mum. You have got 2 kids and there are going to be times when you can't please them both.
Maybe see if there's a different shape dummy to try her on? Or put a bit of milk on it before you try giving her it. I know Kamran doesn't like taking his when it's dry. Takes about 5 attempts to get it in, so I tend to give it a quick suck before I pop it in his mouth and then I wiggle it about a bit. Sorry if I'm not helping.
Hope you're feeling better.

Hi all

Just a quickie to let you all know that Maea was born at 2.47 on Monday morning, weighing in at 7lbs2. Managed to get through labour on gas and air alone (all 19 hours of it!) and am tear and rip free but still bloody sore (literally )

Seem to be totally incapable of breast feeding though, all I am getting is blistered nipples nothing coming out of them - have even tried hand and pump expressing but still no joy. Hoping the midwife will be able to suggest something today as am getting myself in a state about it now and Maea has had to have formula (or starve). Is anyone else using formula already? Please tell me i'm not a hopeless mother!

abbi , i know what it's like hun honest i do my oldest boys were 17 months apart and it was a case of bottle in one and spoon feeding the other it really was tough but i made it and you will too i promise ! it could be worse ou could be in my house lol ! hope it gets easier for you soon xxx

carolyn congrats !!! maea is a lovely name ,i'm using formula as i think my body did enough carrying him so i needed to recover and last time i was under so much stress i couldn't express anything either , mine have all been bottle fed and are fit and healthy so just go with it you dont need the extra stress .xxxx

i hope kate and jj are ok will be glad when we've all delivered !

Hiya,

Kate is still in hospital, contractions have stopped. Consultant wasn't helpful yesterday so she's swapped consultants and new one is much better and hopefully she's being induced 2moro.

Carolyn - Congratulations! How on earth you managed 19 hours of labour on gas and air I don't know. I thought it was bad enough just doing my 4 with gas and air! (Mind you only had it the last 2 1/2 hours because they were faffing about, and I did ask for more pain relief but was told I couldn't have it).
You're definately not a hopeless mother. Like Abbi says it takes a few days for your milk to come in, all you're producing at first is tea spoons of colostrum and Maea's belly is so small she couldn't handle more than that straight away anyway. If you do decide not to breast feed it's not a bad thing and you shouldn't feel bad. It's better for you to be happy and know that you're giving your baby what she needs than stress over how you're giving her it.

BF slept over for the first time since we've had Kamran last night. Locked the cats in the kitchen so I could take the cot net off so it was easier to get Kamran in and out of his cot. BF hardly woke up except when Kamran first woke up a couple of times. So when bf woke up this morning I gave him Kamran and tried to go back to sleep, but it was so hard to try and block out the noises Kamran was making so I ended up just getting up. LOL. Breast pump still hasn't turned up.  Maybe 2moro.

Hope everyone is well,
x

Congratulations Carolynn

Good luck for tomoz Sarah..

I finally got round to weighing Mason..... 10lb 2oz!!!!! cannot believe he now weighs that, but he has grown loads not sure if putting nearly 3lb on in 3.5 weeks is normal tho  but seen as hes he's very contented ill go with my gut instint that hes a happy healthy little chap

Abbi dont be so hard on yaself hun, it must be hard having a toddler and a new baby i take my hat off to u, i wouldnt manage at all

Carolynn if you do decide to go the formual route its not a bad thing at all as Amanda, Rhona and myself are all bottle feeding and all have happy contented babys with mummys that arent 2 stressed,  i personally think some mums put too much pressure on themselves to do the "right thing" by breastfeeding!!! but each to there own as along as baby and mum are happy

Its soo quiet on here lately int it lol, were all so busy with our new babies!!!

hope all babies and mums are well anyway

Hi everyone

Sorry I haven't posted in ages.  Was in hospital for five days (following 3 days labour and emergency section) and then my computer was away being upgraded - only got it back today!  It's taken me ages to read two weeks worth of posts!

Huge congratulations to everyone who has had babies and love and labour dust to those still waiting!  Anyone suffering from the baby blues or problems breastfeeding, you have my sympathy - we are not crap mummies - we are still learning

I will come on tomorrow and post more but I just wanted to say hi to everyone!
