Hi all,

I too am a first time mum.  I'm 21 and am eight weeks pregnant, EDD 9th of July.  Myself and my husband are over the moon about it.

Katrina - how did you go anout getting a scan so early?  My GP thinks I'm having twins but they won't book me in for a scan yet.  Seeing my midwife on the 7th so I'll raise it with her as well.

Anyone able to tell me what the MW will say at our meeting.  She is coming to my home so I don't know what to expect.  Any advice would be gratefull received.

Any advice would be greatfully recieved.  I'm 17 weeks pregnant and this is my first baby, I went for my scan last week and everything was fine.  Your probably going to think I'm nuts but I'm worried because I haven't actually got a bump as such.  Do you think the baby will be ok and that it will have enough room?

ello!! im only 19 and just found out im around 8 weeks pregnant! scary (and very shocked) stuff as im halfway thru my psych nursing course but altho we know it will be tough to manage it all me and my partner are so happy!! seeing my midwife for the first time next week and i was jst wondering whether she will listen to the heartbeat or book a scan or anything? im just really keen to get some reassurance that everything is going ok.

i also wanted to say that i hate the fact people look down on young mums. i may be young and still studying for my career but im willing to work hard to make things work. and being young doesnt mean im any less able to love and look after my baby properly so please everyone give us young mummys a chance.

Hi all, hope you dont mind me gatecrashing!

Im 29 and expecting our first child on 2 May!  Had our 20 week scan today and it was so amazing! Went buggy shopping yesterday in Mother Care and got really fed up cos there was so much choice and plenty of people there.  I blame my hormones!

Carrie - well done you for studying and raising a child! Try to ignore what other people think, its a small minority of young mums which have given the bad impression.  I wish I stuck with it at college and Uni. Dont think I would be able to go back into studying now, would love to study Midwifery but wouldnt be fair for OH to be lumbered with all the bills.

Kelly - you're so lucky you're not showing @ 17 weeks!  I was showing by 9 weeks and had to cover up with baggy stuff and couldnt tell anyone as we had not had the 12 week scan yet.  Im just feeling fat at this moment but plenty of people are telling me I will start to feel blossoming!

Jo- will it be your first MW appoinment?  When I had my first appointment all my MW done was go through my OH and my medical history. It took about an hour I think it was that long ago.

Im half way through and it has flown over so try to take it all in and enjoy it.

Hey all, sorry not been on in a while.

Tania, thank you for your advice.  Everything went well.  I have told everyone now and they are all absolutely thrilled for me and my husband.  I'm now ten weeks and have had no sickness for the past week or so - i'm dead chuffed.  Boobs still really hurt though - when does this go away?!!  Funnily enough, i received a letter today for my scan which will be the 31st of Dec (i'll be just short of thirteen weeks).  I really can't wait - I'm soooooo excited.  Anyways, how have you been doing?  Have you already had your second scan - if so, do you know what you are having?

Hope everyone else is doing fine.  Carrie, I'm only 21 and I completely understand where you are coming from with the 'young mum stuff'.  It's bound to happen to us so we will just have to keep our chins up.  With regard to your appt next week, my midwife just took my blood and wee and asked me loads of questions regarding my medical history and my family's but didn't listen to the heartbeat of the baby or anything but she will write to you about a week after to let you know when your scan is.

Speak soon.

Hello every1.

I'm new to the site-found it by accident!

I'm 19 wks pregnant and have been having period-like pains, is this normal?

I'm a first time mum and everything worries me (1st pregnancy ended in miscarriage unfortunatley). My scan was perfectly normal and i'm due another in jan, was hoping some1 could put my mind at ease?

Kind regards Sarah x

Hi everyone

I recently found out i was pregnant with my 1st but unsure how far i was so went for a scan yesterday which showed i am 6 weeks so be due end of Aug,

Although midwife scared me a little saying she couldn't find a heartbeat might just be to early to see it just yet but it as really worried me (new scan in two weeks to be sure) so thought id join up and talk to some other newly pregnant mum's! maybe it will reassure me a little.

congratulations to all of you on your pregnancies and i hope all is well

Hello everyone.

I'm a bit new to this so please bear with me...

I'm 20 weeks pregnant with my first child and am really excited however, now I am starting to show I'm finding it hard to find nice, reasonable clothes to fit my ever expanding belly!

Any suggestions?

Hi everyone.  I am 26 weeks pregnant and due on the 13th April.  This is our first baby and we have chosen not to find out the sex as we want a surprise.

Baby has been very active since about 18 weeks which has given me alot of reassurance that everything must be ok. The baby really can pack some strong punches and kicks especially at night time when i'm trying to sleep but i've found massaging my bump with oil just before i go to sleep very helpful as it seems to relax me and the baby.  Apparently the baby can feel you massaging him or her and its good to do at night time as the baby will relate this to bedtime when he or she is born.

Sarah Taylor- I found early pregnancy a very anxious time worrying about every little twinge.  I also got period like cramps quite alot in up to about 18 weeks.  I still get them on occasions but usually when i'm over doing it! . My GP assures me that it is perfectly normal.  The only time you should worry and call the doc is if you get prolonged pain and fever with bleeding.  I find just putting your feet up with a hot drink and a heat pad very helpful.  Hope this puts your mind at rest.

Lol and congrats to everyone.  Its a scary but exciting time
