Hello, my little girl is 5 months old now but she is very long and weighs 15lbs 5 about 7kg. My problem is that she is so heavy to carry in her infant seat now. I'm thinking of changing her car seat but am not sure what the advice is on her age and weight. The advice I have read is that once she is too heavy or too tall for her infant seat we can put her in a forward facing car seat. She holds herself up very well and is long and heavy. I am just not sure about the safety of this. I don't think we can continue to keep using the car seat we have as it is so hard to lift in and out of car and lift her in it. I'm really not sure on this one. I personally think she would be fine in a forward facing seat but is it law that she must be a certain weight? Help needed , dont really know where to start getting advice on this.

hi shelagh,

ive got the mothercare catalogue which makes it easier to understand. it says rear facing car seat up to 13kg, then theres the forward facing car seats for those over 9kg. it suggests that the baby reaches the recommended weight and that they can sit upright.
there is a combination car which is from birth to 18kg, it sits rearward until over 13kg then can be positioned to forward facing once baby is over 9kgs up until 4 years so this may be another option for you. gosh its so much to take in. hope this helps a bit.
