Hello, Just wondering if anybody had some good/bad experiences with the matrix lie-flat car seat? It all sounds quite good, but are they not really big in the car? Or too small as a carry cot?

Only just found this thread hope it's not to late, I have the jane matrix pro 3wheeler with the lie flat car seat!

I think its fab!

my son is very big for his age (10lb 4oz when born) and i managed to use the carseat untill he was six or seven month (approx the size of a one year old)

I did't use it as a carseat though as it didn't face back, i found it easier to buy a carseat from birth to 4yrs and take him in out of that instead of messing about with seatbelts all the time!

 first message was too long so this is the abridged version.

positives;

• lie-flat car seat very useable.
• It was sturdy and appeared to be well built.
• If our son was already asleep in it and we could carry him straight to the car, leaving him flat. He would sleep very well in it for journeys.
• great for getting the wheels ready and plonking it in the housing- very quick.

drawbacks:

• it is quite heavy as a carry cot once the baby gets a bit bigger.
• The fixing mechanism is awkward - the pictures in the leaflet are confusing and very basic. We left the anchors attached to the seat belts and attached them once the seat was in place.

 Ours did face back and the instructions are pretty clear on making the conversion from flat to upright seat. a forward-facing one was bought at approx. 15mths.

 I suppose the only other thing of note was that we bought a light-weight
Maclaren buggy once our son got to about 12 months as the whole travel system, base / wheels plus the seat is a bit big and heavy compared to a little buggy.

Hi, we have a pro three wheeler with the matrix car seat.  We use it as a carry cot which clips straight onto the buggy frame we can change Isaac from sitting to laying depending if he is asleep or not.  We tried this in our car and it is a little big although very secure. Our one either faces backwards as a sitting car seat or lays flat.  We also found it tricky to get the car seat in lying flat.  We decided to buy a maxi cosi car seat with a base so we did not have to worry about seat belts ever time we went out, we just had to click the car seat in. I would defenitly recommend this as although we dont use it as a car seat it is great to have on the buggy frame so Isaac can face me. He will be able to be in the carry cot until he is sitting himself up (safety reasons) we will then take the carry cot off and convert it back to a forward facing buggy.

hey sound like they've upgraded the seat since i got mine -> it only faces forwards in the car or lies flat!

i could'nt b bothered messing with carseat belts either thats why i got a normal baby to four years carseat, to just leave in the car

Has anybody bought the Jane Nomad pram at all? I have heard that the car seat/ infant carier that goes with it it rather difficult to use. I was also interested in hearing reviews of the pram in general.

I have been looking at the Pilko Pramette from M&P which seems really easyand lightweight but the downside for me is that I wont be able to have thebaby facing me when in the buggy posiin. I adore the look of the new Herbie pram from Mamas & Papas but the demonstaration looks arkward and I found it difficult to dissemble myself when trying it out in the shop. Really disappointed as it has the look of the modern style pram with the comfort factor too. just unfortunate that is seems stiff and heavy to use. Another thing that impressed me with the Herbie was that the car seat when on the chassis actally goes flat but reading the watch reports of the M&P car seats they review very badly.I have also had a demo of the Bugaboo which i am unsure of the look of but like the way it can do lots of diffrent stuff and also has the Maxi cosi car seat which reviews very wll. The only thing is I don't like the way it dosn't look comfortable for the baby and the carry cot is low down. I have also been reading about the Apple Icandy which sounds good only heavy. Please please can somebody help me decide on an overall best buy!

Sorry not heard of that jane pram. I've got a jane pro matrix and think it fab and had the flat carseat/carrycot. I think its really important that the baby can lie flat and it took me forever to find my buggy! I have had really bad experiences with mamas and papas, they've either broke, callapsed or the material is of low standard! Don't worry if it takes you for ever to find a buggy you like, i think its the most important think you'll buy and if your like me it will be in constant use.
