We are looking at the Ikea cots range- they are from £20 to £60 (excluding mattress) and are wondering whether anyone has ever used one and can advise on quality (such as is it robust enough for bigger babies?)and comfort. If anyone can recommend anything similar for a limited budget, all suggestions greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I have bought the cheapest one that ikea did, just under £40 including mattress I think. I have yet to try it out (ten days late at the moment, so will test it soon) but it was recommended to me, and it seems really sturdy. It is slightly smaller than some others but fitted bedding such as terry sheets still seem ok on it.

I dont know about beds but their changing table was great (£20) and its got a shelf underneath for a couple of boxes to store all the stuff in.

I'm looking for a smaller cot ideally, as we only have a small room...could I ask you how long yours is and which one you bought?

Does anyone else know of smaller cots around, which are not travel cots like the raco Petite Bassinet?

I'm curious as well - how sturdy are they in real life? How practical are they (without a sliding side)?

I have bought the Hensvik cot from Ikea. Havnt used it yest as im only 31 weeks but seems a good choice. Sturdy, and while it doesnt have a sliding side you can put the base at 2 levels. Have it higher for a new baby and its easy to lift them out. When you need it lower the side is removable, if you have problems bending to get baby in and out.
