Hi there,
I bought a baby heartbeat monitor almost as soon as i found out i was pregnant, i am now 10+4 weeks. The monitor i bought says it works from 12 weeks but i was wondering how well they work. The one i bought is called angelsounds and seems to have some good reviews. Apparently some people found it works from 10 1/2 weeks plus.
I was just wondering if anyone has actually tried them and are they as accurate as they say? I am on my 4th pregnancy, the last 2 ended in miscarriages so i am extremely worried and paranoid about this one.

Hello! Im 16wks(ooh and 2 days!). I've just bought an angelsounds doppler from ebay expecting it to arrive in day or two.
After a little bleed a few days ago (but given the all clear) I want a little extra reassurance that babs was doing its thing!
I've read that it works best from 12wks on. Cant wait to try it out, will leave a message to let you know. All the best.

Hi Sally, thats the exact same doppler as ive got. I 1st used it at 10+5 and could hear what sounds very much like a babys heartbeat (164 beats per minute to be precise). Altho ive heard a few stories about people thinking they could hear the heartbeat only to find out at their scan that the baby died b4 they even started using the fatal doppler.

Im now 11+5 altho im expecting the hospital to put my dates back by 12 days as i know my date of conception. Im ultra paranoid anyway what with my last 2 pregnancies resulting in miscarriage by 9 weeks. Hopefully they were just inexperienced, i have a nearly 3 year old son already and i did 2 years training to be a nurse so i know what a babys heartbeat sounds like, im just scared ill miscarry again.

Everyday i listen to the babys heartbeat...it reassures me altho im sure ill be panicing on friday at my scan. Anyway let me know how you get on with your doppler.

Hi again, I can totally understsnd where your coming from, its a worry for most i think, but going on your experiences- then its only natural to be a nervous wreck between oppointments.
DOPPLERS? Well Im glad its working well for you, mine arrived y'day, couldnt wait to get home and get connected up.
Could hear the whoosing of the nutrients? but nothing else, thought the earphones were a bit quiet at max vol, so got my hubby to connect me to the p.c speakers and.. half a tube of k.y later the house vibrated with the sound. We caught it! only for about 30 secs then it went again.
Have tried again today but no luck, any tips, like drinking water or must lay flat?
Hope all went well at your scan, SALLY.

Hi, I found it worked best when i had a full bladder...just like going for a scan. I found the heartbeat very low down (half on my pubic bone) so it was awkward but i managed to find it. Its best to lie flat. Also, i found baby oil worked better than k-y jelly...dunno why but it seemed to work better for me. As for my scan...i had it on friday morning and saw my baby wriggling around like crazy! Yay!!!

Thanks for the advice, baby oil definately works better. They do like to hide down low dont they.Heart galloping away lovely think it was about 156 bpm! Good luck with it all. These forums are a great help for any niggling worries and questions. Thanks again, Sal.

Happy to help. I had my scan on friday and sure enough the baby was there wriggling away like crazy. I am thrilled! 3rd time lucky they say...it ceratainly was for me! And its a big baby, they only put my due date back by 2 days so i am now due 10/08/07.
