Forum Updates - Help Guide

Hi girls

Ash and Laura, making me feel like a terrible mother, I have a drink occassionally and dont worry too much about it. I think it is quite small amounts and I tend to have it while Andrew is giving him a pre expressed bottle so he wont feed for a bit. Your body will metabolise it so it wont be there for long. Or maybe this is why Logan sleeps so well, he goes to bed pissed .

Ash, Logan sleeps in a grobag too and it keeps him snug. The hospital told me it was important his arms were free to let him cool himself down if he was too hot. You might have to grin and bear it for a few nights. Good luck!

Julz, you star! After you mentioned the netmum website I have had a look on there and found a mum in my village. I am going for a cup of tea on thursday. I guess she could be a total nightmare but worth a try . Hope you get on well with the mum near you.

We are going to see the NCT girls today, getting quite a social life

Hope everyone else is ok.

Vicky and Logan

Vicky -Sorry really didn't mean to make anyone feel bad, I just wondered what people did regarding alcohol. I'm sure  having a glass of wine now and then can't do any harm afterall you can drink that whilst pregnant. They change the guidelines so often that it is confusing. If it makes the baby sleep well then it has to be a bonus!

Julz - I have also been on Netmums a while back and have met a lovely local mum, definately would recommend the site to meet some local mums. It's a pity we are all spread over the UK as it would be nice to meet everyone.

Isla had her first bottle of formula at my Mum's today (we are going to a wedding next Friday and not got a lot of milk expressed and find it quite hard to find the time to do it) she wolfed it down and has been asleep for about the last 2 and a half hours )

Bit fed up today as OH phoned earlier and he won't be home on Saturday as planned but probably Monday now ( Nevermind he will be back soon.

Hope all mums and babies are doing well

Laura & Isla

I would suggest the grobag too. You can get them (only really found them in Tesco) which have sleeves on with built in scratch mitts!! We put Tyler in that, a sleepsuit and vest and he loves it. We have moved him into a normal grobag now as he sucks his thumb and hates the mitts! lol

Netmums is really good! I met up with someone today and we had a laugh, think she's almost as mad as me! lol.

Tyler weighs 18lb 5oz   put on nearly 2lb in one month, which is good since he was putting on 1lb a week before! lol.

Drink? I could do with one!

Hope everyone's doing good

x

Hi everyone

Hope everyone is doing well today.

Not had much of a chance to get on the computer the last 2 days as Isla has been really unsettled. She has been sleeping through the night from about 2 weeks old but has now started waking at about 3am for a feed, aaahhhh! I am shattered. I was thinking of giving her a bottle of formula for her last feed of the night to see if she sleeps any better.

My OH is coming home on Sunday afternoon, yeah Can't wait to have some adult company again.

Wow Julz Tyler is certainly growning well. Drink - right now I could do with a bottle of vino but will have to wait a week to have a glass or 2. Netmums is great I am also meeting with some people I have met through it.

Hope all Mums & Babies are well today

Laura & Isla

Tyler is doing the same. He woke at 4 this morning and has been really unsettled the last 2 days. He hasn't slept properly in the day at all for the last few days, been crying a fair bit. He is 15weeks now so am thinking it's a combo of the dreaded 3-4month growth spurt ANd teething AND tummy trouble from formula. Yay me! Hope Isla gets better for you soon. x

...and what the hell happened to the weather

Well I have just given Isla a bottle of formula, fingers crossed she will sleep through the night. I think she may be starting to teeth also as she is constantly chewing her fist and dribbling loads. Is that teething or just normal 3 month old?!

I think the weather is my fault, I was moaning a few weeks ago that I wanted the cooler weather back as Isla was miserable in the heat, sorry

I quite like the cooler weather, although it means I can't get out as much because I don't drive!!!

Well I'm an Auntie again! My sister had a girl who they named Clover yesterday evening.

I would sound more excited but I'm not a happy bunny. I'll explain if anyone's interested lol.

...(and I need to vent my anger!)

...I have 4 sisters (35,33,22,20). My oldest sister had her baby yesterday. My mum went over to Ireland to be with her last week but baby didn't arrive, and it was the mum-in-law's turn to go this week. My sister was being really grumpy as expected lol, and demanded that my mum drop everything here and go to be with her again the day after she got back here.

1.My mum is absolutely petrified of flying and only just managed to get on the plane last time.

2.My mum is helping my other sister by looking after her twins all next week otherwise my sister has to take a week unpaid off work.

My mum initially said she couldn't come over until the following week, which is reasonable, but my sister hung up the phone, and later texted my mum something along the lines of this...

"I am absolutely livid that you have yet again chosen Sharon over me. I have come to think I now have 2 parents that dont care about me (our dad left when she was pregnant with her 1st child). I'm not going to tell you about our child when it arrives and dont want to have anything to do with you. It looks like I'm going to have to have a home birth and risk us both as the hospital is 25miles away and now i have nobody to look after the children, if they aren't asleep it will scar them for life!"

...How stupid! All because my mum couldn't go there and then! She is jealous of my other sister because she had twins and my mum helped her out loads (which is totally fair as she was 23 when she had them,  and a single parent and one of them is autistic)

My older sister texted me moaning about my mum. I didn't reply because it was a pretty nasty text about mum and I was disgusted and didn't know what to say. She had her baby yesterday and she didn't text me, my mum Or my other sister. But she did text my youngest 2! I'm guessing she didn't let me know as I hadn't replied to her earlier that day!!!! She is going to regret what she has done. If she wanted more help from people at short notice then she shouldn't have moved to Ireland at 5months pregnant without making plans before!  Also they have decided not to come over here to introduce baby as she thinks that they paid money to move to Ireland so they shouldn't have to pay to come back here! None of us can really afford to be going over to Ireland at this short notice, and definitely not my sister with her twins. So looks like won't be seeing my new niece and other niece and nephew any time soon!!

Oh my god I'm angry and my mum is REALLY upset!! I hardly slept all night.

I think this is totally uncalled for and I can't believe how my sister has acted the last 2 days. My OH is furious but obviously can't say anything and I'm really upset as I made the effort to let all 4 of my sister, my mum, and all deans family know what was going on when I was in hospital and called everyone ourself as soon as Tyler was born. I didn't even get a text until my youngest sister told me.

Sorry if I've put anyone in a naff mood but I had to have a moan somewhere!!!

Hope everyone's doing ok and all babies are doing well.

I can't believe Tyler is over 15weeks now! Nealry 4 months eek!!!!

Take care x x x

Julz - sorry to hear about your sister, the only thing i can think to say is perhaps your sister's hormones have gotten the better of her and she will realise in time that she was being unreasonable. I hope things get better for you, the last thing you want is to be stressed and having to take care of Tyler. Hey if you can't vent here, where can you, that what we're all here for.

Isla had a bottle of formula at 9pm last night and slept through till 5am. Although I was awake from 4 as she was making loads of noises in her sleep, might need to think about moving her into her own room soon

Time for a little vent from me. My OH called yesterday to say he won't be home on Sunday as planned but maybe Tuesday now, nearly burst into tears on the phone when he called. I really hate his job now that we have Isla, it was fine him going away when it was just me but finding it hard being along with a baby & a dog for weeks. Thank goodness my Mum has been around as she has really helped. Meeting some friends from Netmums today and Tuesday and have my bf group on Monday so hopefully these outings should stop me sitting around the house feeling depressed.

Hope all Mums and babies are doing well, off to get myself some breakfast before Isla wakes.

Laura & Isla x

My god Julz, hope you feel better for getting that lot off your chest! Your sister is being a total nightmare but hopefully laura is right and once her hormones calm down she might apologize. I remember feeling that the world should revolve around me when I first had Logan (not that I was being a total bitch about it though). Hope you have calmed down a bit now and that your mum is ok.

Laura, it must be very hard work without your OH. I guess it isnt his fault he has had to stay away longer but it is a nightmare to have the goal posts moved. hope you enjoy your time out with the other mums. A good moan to them as well should make you feel better.

I have had a busy few days. On Thursday I met up with a girl from Netmums who has a 1 year old and a 3 year old which was quite scary. Would like Logan to stay a baby for a long time yet, sleepless night or not it seems a lot easier!

In the evening I went out for a drink with a girl from NCT who has twins and needed to get out for a few hours which was fantastic. Actually going to a pub by myself not attached to a baby was great.

Yesterday Andrew was off work and we took the dogs for a long walk (in the rain- Logan has his own umbrella) and then took him to Bettys, which is a lovely tearoom that does really great food. He was a model citizen and sat in his stroller watching us the whole time. Progress!

Hope everyone is ok

Take care

Vicky and Logan

hey everyone

Julz, so sorry to hear about your sister, hope you are all ok and that your sister does realise how wrong she was and apologises, hope it was hormones. Always have a rant on here hun

Laura, hope you have better night with Isla and the formula in the evening works for you.

Ash, glad that Aiden is doing well in his sleeping bag, we are putting Toby in his own room from monday and going to use his sleeping bag as he is bad for kicking covers off.

Vicky, sounds likeyou had lovely few days. Its so nice to get out on your own for an evening and your walk etc sounds great.

All good here, I have too starting using netmums and am going to met up with a lady next week who has baby 2 weeks older than Toby and it turns out her husband drinks in my pub and i know him so thats really cool.

Toby is being great as usual no complaints yet. Oh laura forgot to say Toby chews his fist and dribbles alot and im not sure if its teeth either?!?!?

Anyways im off now to chill out with the kids (we have my hubbys girls this weekend).

Hope everyone else is doing alright. Lots of love to all mums and bab9ies

Kirsty Xxx

Hi Ladies,

Sorry for not posting for AGES and apologies for not reading through everyone's posts but we're in the process of moving house (yes with a nine week old), so thought I must post and apologise and explain as I won't be posting again for sometime until we're settled!

Wishing you & babes all well.

Love & Sparkle,

Amanda & Kerensa (now 9lbs 12oz - the slender petite girlie) xx

Morning Everyone

Are all the babies in a bedtime routine and if they are how did everyone manage it??? Have been trying to get Isla into a routine, bath at 8, last feed 8.30 she then falls asleep but then wakes up at 10 for food (sure she isn't hungry again but she eats). Anyone got any advise as she is waking every morning around 4-4.30 for another feed.  I know she is too wee for solids but shedoesn't seem to be getting enough from the milk now.

Vicky- nice to hear that Logan was a good boy when you were out, sure Isla would have screamed the place down

Ash- Glad the sleeping bag seems to be working. I love them, bless the person who invented them!

Kirsty - Glas Toby is doing well, hope he has had a nice weekend with the girls. Bet they love having him around.

Amanda- hope the move goes well.

Isla was awake at 4.30 this morning had a feed and then went back to sleep at 5 and is still asleep. I have been awake since about 4 as every little noise she makes wakes me. Think it may be time for her to go into her own room but don't really want to do it whilst my OH is away. My Mum is going to look after Isla this afternoon so I will get a couple of hours to myself, will be very strange as this will only be the 2nd time  I have have left her.

Hope all the Mums and babies are well

Laura & Isla x

hi ladies Just a quick not about teething im a dental nurse and babys usually dont start teething until about 6 months but its not unusual form them to start early either but i know aiden is also dribbling and chewing his fist i think it might just be something they do,

Laura u will get in to a routine eventually dont fell pressured cause we have started to it all takes time and each baby is differant, Aiden takes his last feed about 10.00 then sleeps till about 7 he occasionaly wakes in the night but not often i try and feed him his last one as late as poss then i know i will get a better sleep i have a book that says to wake them just before ur going to bed and try get them to take something even if its just an oz it klikely to make them sleep an extra hour or so,

Ash and Aiden xxx
