How are you and Max getting on? Is Mark still off? He works away doesn't he? Sorry, that looks like a lot of questions!
My oh didn't seem phased by the labour at all, in fact when I was having contractions at home he was on the phone sorting his rugby team out, god knows what they thought with me groaning in the back ground! He was really good at calming me down in the hospital though. Althoug he did keep saying he'd seen lots of animals give birth and it was no big deal, hmm, I'd like to see him do it, it bloody hurts!
I met a Friend in Gloucester to do some xmas shopping yeasterday, why does having a buggy make you invisible, so many people just stand in your way. grrr. I love christmas but I hate shopping! I fed Freya in Debenhams restaurant but had to cut her short so I didn't get a parking ticket so I went into mothercare and their feeding lounge is fab, comfy leather sofa, chairs and rocking chairs. Got a bit carried away in mothercare though, i only went in for a travel cot and thermometer and ended up buying lots of things for Freya, ooops!
Max is fab, i know it sounds weird but hes soo cute i could eat him! he'll be 2 weeks tomorrow, wheres the time gone?
Marks got one more week of part time work then he's back full time, not sure when he'll be away again though as it tends to be seasonal (normal runs with the event season which means he doesn't get to come with me very often)
As for riding am tempted to try tomorrow just for 10mins and only in walk only cos boobs are soo sore and i don't fancy doing trot atm with them!
I agree about buggy's making you invisible, Marks was tempted to ram the next person who didn't move out the way, luckily no-one else did, phew!
Sounds like you had a nice time spoiling Freya mothercare do do some really nice stuff, we were looking at their baby gyms and rockers cos we want to get Max them for christmas - its just deciding which one.
MW coming tomorrow so best go and clean house - i hate being domesticated, would much rather tidy the yard!!!!
Hi, oh took laptop to work earlier in the week and didn't bring it back till today, I've missed my think baby fix! Very sad, I know, lol! It's bloody freezing here, sat by the open fire in our lounge at the moment feeling sorry for my horse, with his hairy winter coat and several rugs I'm sure he's fine but I really hate the cold!
Well done on the riding, hope you get time to do it again soon. Time is a real problem for me to fit it in but on weds my boss (Vanessa) looked after Freya for me while I took Horace for a hack which was really nice. He was quite enthusiastic about a walk round the block bless him, he'll be 19 next year and he still thinks monsters hide behind next doors bins! I then looked after vanessa's son Tom while she rode, he's 7 months and was happy making lots of noise playing with his toys. Only one panic when he was screaming cos he'd rolled onto his front and couldn't roll back while I was in the middle of removing Freya from a very poohy nappy!
Got a phone call from the chap who has my other horse, Harry on loan the other day and it looks like he's coming back after xmas. He's got arthritis in a hock (he's 18) after having an arthroscopy done on it after getting a bad kick injury about 5 yrs ago. He's just been hacking out on a bute a day to keep him comfy but the chap isn't really happy as he thinks he's getting worse and should retire. I'd rather he kept ticking over if he can as I think they just seize up completley if they do nothing. he made it sound like he was really lame but then said the vet (not an equine vet) wasn't sure what leg it was in! He then got some proper vets out and they said they could nerve block and x ray but it wioulnd probably just show us what we already know. I'm going to go and investigate next week and talk to the vets myself! Much as I love my horses and don't mind him coming back talk about bad timing, the middle of winter, new baby and no money!
Ok, I'll stop waffling now! Hope you and Max are doing ok. Do I remember you saying it was your birthday not long after Max was due? Have you had it yet, doing/done anything exciting?
yup your right, i had my b'day on friday - ugh 30 now!
Went for a meal on Friday with my Aunt and Uncle which was lovely - they came to see Max who had lots of cuddles from my Aunt, poor hard done by baby!! not
MIL took me to watch the Express Eventing where we had the misfortune to see Call Again Cavilar break his leg in a freaky accident, brought back what happened to Aisha
I know what you mean about bad timing, Josie getting injured whilst i was pg cost me a fortune cos i was unable to deal with her. Does sound like havng nerve blokes etc done isn't likely to be productive if you know what the problem is already, maybe the blokey is saying that cos he can't afford him anymore and doesn't want to say so - i'm prob wrong and no offence meant.
Sounds like a good idea to talk to the vets yourself then at least you'll know exactly what they've said instead of getting it third hand, hope Harry's not too bad.
I was always told horses get better as they get older, but i'm not so sure as our oldie is always in the thick of it if theres any mischeif going on - more like growing old disgracefully!!! he's ace though
Glad to hear that you've managed to ride again, i was riding Kal after the class lesson as she was already tacked up and Mark was home to watch Max at lunch time, but Marks back at work full time now so i'll have to ride once he's home untill he goes away then not to sure what i'l do - i think it'll be easier once the horses down the field are back in work as i can park Max up and i can see him from the barn and arena whereas i can't at Sheepcote - may have to be nice to nanny!!
oops my turn to waffle, better go and do something useful!
hope Freya's doing well
ooh, just one more thing Max must be eating well as he's out of newborn clothes already - i don't want him to grow cos he's just too cute atm, i just spend most of the day cuddling him
I'm surprised Max fitted in newborn clothes this long! Freya was out them after a week, but she's very long. I know what you mean about them growing so fast, Freya is 11 weeks old and has been in 3-6 month clothes for a fortnight, and the scary thing is they aren't even that big on her! I've spent most of today cuddling Freya as the bloody car wouldn't start this morning so we couldn't go anywhere, grrr. Luckily it was just a flat battery. ( not that I need an excuse to cuddle her, lol!)
Glad you had a good birthday.
My friend went to the express eventing thing too, I was going to go but thought all day there in the cold with baby prob wouldn't be fun. Glad I didn't, my friend called me on her way home and said call again cavalier had a nasty accident and that she thought thry'd made it all too technical to try and keep it entertaining for the spectators but it just ended up with lots of uncomfy looking rides and people being eliminated. Maybe not the success they hoped, a shame really as the prize money was decent.
Going to see Harry at the end of the week, no offence taken by the way! He has said he'll keep him till the new year which is helpfull and he is still hairy which is good as he'll have to join Horace doing the living out thing.
We thought it was too technical too, if Mark Todd can't get round then it must be difficult. Its a shame what happened really cos I think potentally it could be really good - I'll be surprised if they run it again.
I didn't take Max, I left him at home with Mark, glad I did as we were half frozen to death by the end.
Thats good that Harry can stay put till the new year, days will be starting to draw out a bit by then as well which always makes life easier, still too b****y cold though!!
I'm off to bed as I'm sure someone will be screaming at 2am for food, soo looking forward to when he sleeps all through the night.
