Don't worry Grumlet the scan will be something you never forget i can guarentee it!! i took my pictures around with me for about 3 weeks just so if i saw anyone i knew i could whip them out! haha pregnancy does strange things i swear!! One other side effect i have been experiencing more and more is dizzy spells when my vision goes a bit spinny and i feel a but faint. Hi girls! Well, 1st scan was on Friday, all very scary, receptionist was a miserable mare but lady doing the scan was lovely! Bit of a fruit cake but made us giggle! We did however get some suprising news ... i'm only 9weeks 4days!! Not the 13 weeks the midwife had thought! Have to go back 2weeks on Friday to have the scan again, little 1 was a bit too little to see everything. But we could see a heart beat so that was something! Best be joining the due in feb forum now!! The dizziness ... yes can relate to that too! I feel sick and weak pretty much all of the time, so drained of evergy at the moment. Keep getting the shakes and feel very close to passing out, think i might have low blood sugar count but won't know for sure until my blood tests. Can't beleive such a little dot can be causing so many changes to my normal, fairly straight forward life! I feel really bad because I just don't seem to be enjoying this bit as much as I wish I was, is anyone else feeling that? I find myself wishing to time by, at least until I can feel 'normal' again! Whatever that is! xxx

Hey grumlet, My first scan put me back one week aswell, which was also a shock for me. I was counting the days at that point just waiting until i felt ok again. I felt pretty miserable for the first 13 weeks of pregnancy battling feeling sick, tired, down all whilst working and not being able to tell anyone until i felt ready. Its such a task, but as soon as i hit the 13th week things began to ease off. I felt ready to do things again socialize and eat!! and now at nearly half way through i feel amasing. I love being pregnant and also seeing my bump grow and feeling the little movements inside is like nothing before! Looking back on the first trimester it was very hard but worth all the hard work!! im sure it will be the same for you. As for the dizziness! its still affecting me! feel like im going to fall off my seat at work every so often! haha but im just trying to take it easy at the moment. Also one question... me and my partner bought a doppler 2 weeks ago and i have been using it every other day, i have now been told by a few close friends that this could be harmful to the baby due to increased ultrasound? Has anybody heard anything like this? I have stopped using it but it was such a comfort i want to assess the actual risks?? Helen and little one 19 + 5

Hi Helen, I asked my midwife about using the doppler and she said it is fine to use 10 times a day if we want! just not to get stressed out if we dont get the heartbeat sometimes as it could just be in a rubbish position, ask your MW yourself but im sure she will say the same as mine. I have been using mine nearly every day for about the last 8 - 9 weeks xx Kirsty 20 weeks today xx

Hi All, Grumlet - My dates got put back a couple of weeks from what the mw worked out on my booking in - I went reading all the 'what's happening this week' for the 2 weeks between my booking in and my scan getting all excited - to find that it hadn't happened yet. From speaking to my friends that have got kids virtually all of them got dates put back by at least a week. Emma - not long now! You can finish work anytime from now if you want can't you? the weeks are flying by - baby will be here before you know it! Helen - couldn't say either way about the doppler as I never bought one. Glad you're enjoying your pregnancy now - I love being pregnant too, just being really impatient at the mo as I can feel the baby kicking and moving loads but hubbie can't feel it yet - I keep making him put his hand on my belly but he can't feel anything and gets bored waiting! Anyway - back to working for me, my concentration span at the moment is not great I keep day dreaming about babies and the nursery etc......................... xxxx
