HI Anyone

This a question for anyone who's had previous C-Section.

I had a section for my fist baby 2yrs and 3 months ago. There were complications with healing.

I'm approaching 33 weeks and the MW has explained that baby is down at the brim?? I think what she means is quite low. This week my scar and surounding area have become quite painful and sore. I'm getting some needle like pain shooting up and down from the scar. It's also really sore to touch the skin it feels extra sensitive. A bit like running your finger over a burn.

I'd like to think it might be just more stretching symptoms now that bay's head is down in that area and it might calm down in a few days. But wondered if anyone one else had experienced this with their scar?

 Bit worried......Px

hiya hun,

i had a c-section, 9 years ago and still now sometimes my scar really itches, when i had my 2nd 3 years ago i got some mild pain when she was head down and really low. this was all due to the stretching going on.  i was worried to death my scar would split open but it didnt. thank god!!  i found massarging lavender oil or lotion on and around the area really helped. no doult ill be doing the same with this 1 due jan 09. baby no:3!!! if you are worried call and have a chat with your midwife and ask her to have a look at it.   im sure everything will be fine.  good luck. emma xx

Hi P

I had a section with my first 4 years ago and I am now 31 weeks with my second.  Whenever i go to see the midwife or to the hospital for anything they are always asking me about my scar.  I have been told that if I get any soreness or tenderness around it to give them a call straight away as it will need checking out.

Thankfully I havent had any pain or soreness at all but they do make a special point to ask me every single time and tell me to call them if I feel anything at all.

I am sure it is nothing but it might be worth giving your midwife or hospital a call just in case, its not going to cause you any harm to get it checked.  I hate to hear about maternity services not giving women the proper care so please make sure they dont give the brush off, if my midwives (and ive seen 4!!) feel like it is something to look out for then it really is worth checking out.

Let me know how you get on sweet, I am sure it is all fine

Hi, thanks for the tips. It is a little easier today and I have been massaging Bio Oil for a few days now.

Your right about the services Julie, my MW has never even asked me how it feels dispite knowing all the troubles I had. I had a temp MW last week and when she was measuring the bump I winced cause she pressed down on it. She seemed surprised it was so painful but it didn't seem to concern her much.

I will definately mention it at my next check up...it is really worrying when it's bad. I want to try for a VBAC this time and worry that if I say something they wont let me try to labour. But I also dont want anything horrible to happen to it.

Cheers

Petra.

Hi Petra

I would get it checked out next time you go, even if it is just to put your mind at rest.

I am having a planned section this time around - couldnt go through another emergency, I want everything to be under control if that is at all possible, should get my date at the end of Aug so very excited now.

Really admire you for trying for a VBAC, I would have liked to but I think it just wouldnt happen, I am only 5ft3" and only weigh 7 1/2 stone at my heaviest (pre pregnancy) my last baby was 7lb10oz so very big for me and I am sure this one is bigger!! Hope yours goes to plan this time.

Good luck xx

I spoke to my MW today about the episode with my scar and she did say that I shouldn't leave it next time! I must ring the Mat Unit straight away. Scar rupture is very rare but it is always worth getting it checked out. So thats me told.

The thing I thought was weird is that she didn't write anything in my notes about it. I mean, I guess thats good cause at least no one is going to read it and say...right this woman is not allowed a VBAC. But I'd have thought she would have mentioned it on there in some way.

It's back to normal now, just a bit painful when they have a prod around during the anti-natel check.

Fingers still crossed!

 hi all.

I had my c-section last year in May. I'm now 25 weeks with baby #6.

My scar healed well, but i noticed this week that it has started to weep slightly in the middle. My midwife has just said i need to go to the dr's to get anti biotic cream and maybe get it dressed. I dont think its bad enough for a dressing but i will get some anti biotics. I have to confess that i have been naughty and rather than shave.... I used 'veet' cream to do my bikini line only to find out that it's not suppose to be used on 'scars'!

I'm having elected c-section on 29th december 08. my last baby was breech, the other 4 were normal. would rather have a c-section than go through all the heaving and pain of natural again.
