I know of many babies about the same age or younger than my son (11 weeks) and they are sleeping between 6-10 hours straight at night!!! I think most of them are feeding loads during the day to stock up for night.
Does this actually work??????? We are trying a routine starting yesterday where he will have all his feeds between 6am and 11pm and hopefully end up sleeping during the night.
Also, if anyone has tried following a set routine, does it take long for them to get used to it??
Julz - hi - all babies are different - i have 6 - most of them have been settling through the night from about 4 months, but 2 were little imps and went unil nearly 9 months before sleeping through, eating regularly through the day DOES help and so does a set routine, my last baby sleeps through since she was born!!! just goes to show. You'll probably find when you start him on solids and hes having little meals throughout the day he will have a full tummy and sleep all night!! All the best xxxx
hey julz,,, my son will be 8 weeks old tomorrow and hes been in a night time routine since he was about 4 weeks old,, he'll have his last feed at 10pm and wake at 5:30.. i have 3 children and my first was a nightmare at night for about 18 months,, my second was alot better and settleing well at night,,,, my son (baby) is a very hungry baby and is on cow & gate plus for hungryer babys and he'll take 7oz feeds every 4 hours during the day and is nice and settled during the night although if for some reson he dosent take a full feed at 10pm he will wake at about 3am for a top up.... as karen has said all babys are different and hopfuly your son will get the idea of the routine and settle into it quite fast.... all the best and good luck...
Hi Julz... I too am in the process of trying to get my 15 week old son to go longer at night. He goes about 5-6 hours at the longest. I know of friends who have their babies going through the night, but this just adds pressure on us. Just get yourself into a routine and gradually the time will improve. My son has started eating well, and is always very happy so I bear that in mind and know that all will work out ok x
Hey thanks for the replies. I have been following a routine for about 5days now, and Tyler will go to sleep at 7 without any fuss at all, and sleep until about 2am, have a feed, then wake up at about 5:30. I should really be giving him a feed at 10 or 11pm, but I don't want to wake him, and find he still wakes up at 2!!!! lol. Hopefully I can move the 2am feed forward until he goes all night, Now there's the issue of waking at 5:30am when he doesn't feed until about 7/7:30!! But that's for another thread!!! lol
