Hi as you may be be aware i went to the docs yesterday ans asked for help, he told me to book in for a blood test, asked me when my cycle starts.

It should of been yesterday so he said comer back in 21 days they will do a blood test then c if im ovulating.

Why 21 days?

What if i dont ovulate till later or earlier will this show in the blood test?

I still havent statred yet so would i count 21 days from the start?

Any advice would be great.

Hi Mich

I go for 21 day progesterone bloods to check for OV, its 21 days from day 1 when you bleed, so the first day of your period is day 1..

You normaly OV around day 14 so on day 21 they are looking for your peak seven days after you OV'd.... It should come back at levels of 30 or more, say it comes back at levels of 25 they may have caught you on the way up to your peak of progesterone and you may have OV'd late on so they will ask you for a 28 day repeat test, if its much lower that 30 then you have not OV'd, you may of had all the symptoms of OV but a egg has not been released..

You dont always release a egg, i am loosing weight at my local assisted conception unit as i am a big girl, as being over weight seriously affects ovualtion and stops you ovulating...

You still get periods even tho you may not ovulate... Hope this helps hun xxx

P.s signs your about to OV are a changer in cervical mucus, it turns strechy egg white consistance, so you feel 'damper down below' and pain from your ovarys...

I used OV test this month and started testing at the same time in the AFTERNOON, from day 10 and got a positive on day 13/14, so i am hoping i released a ripe egg this month, i will find out aftr my 21 day test on Monday xxx
