I am totally confused, this my first baby, I am 20 weeks this Friday 18th July 2008, and I am due 5th December 2008, I had my normal period end of February 2008, and to what doctors are saying I conceived around 14th March 2008, with which I then missed my period 25th March 2008 - and I tested positive twice on 27th March 2008..
You confused yet>? lol, anyway, Doctors calculate things differently to how we see them, because if I concieved 14tH mARCH 2008 I would look at me being around 18 weeks pregnant not 20, but I am apparently 20 weeks this friday going by doctors records and measurements of babies, is this is the case, this takes me back to Mid Feb, but I had a period end of February, and concieved mid March... is this all normal dates I am well confused.
The doctors date the pregnancy from your last period even though you probably didn't concieve till around 2 weeks later (depending on your cycle!)
Also they say the scan gives a more accurate date as it is based on the size of the baby. For example I'm 33 weeks today and my last period was December 3rd. I was given a date of Sept 10th initially then after the 12 week scan it was changed to 3rd Sept. (I thought it would change to a bit earlier as I have quite a short cycle but not a whole week!)
Don't know if that helps you or had made you more confused!!! At the end of the day they will turn up when they're ready anyway!
Oh hi gem, I know lol and thanks for the info, but I really just want to know how far gone I am, I think its all right, its just i dont get it, from my dating scan i am 20 weeks this friday, and apparently i concieved 1th march, but doesnt 20 weeks this friday take me back to mid feb? lol... i had a period end of feb.. or is that just the way they do it,
not long left for you to go then, you know what your having etc
im 20 weeks on friday and find out the sex on monday, it kicks like a good un now can see and feel it from outside too, very exciting, i have bought everything already, but just need certain colour clothing lol..
my conception date was apparently 14th march from what docs said, but i have also heard that your not actually pregnant for the first 2 weeks, so basically if doctors say your 20 weeks preg your only actually 18, its how they count it doing a 40-42 week pregnancy,... all i wanted to know was wether i concieved in feb or march cuz if it does count back to end of feb, that when i had my period, i didnt miss a period til end of march with which i tested positive then.
gods it so weird isnt it, but if i put my last day period, my due date and conception date it all is correct and gives me my exact date of what they gave me at the scan lol
I'm not much use on this really as I don't really understand it! the first day of my last period was the 30th Jan, then I came off the pill but found out a few weeks later that I was getting made redundant so I went back on the pill. As it was a pill period I have no idea how long my cycle is or anything! I did a preg test beginning of March that was negative, low and behold after taking my pill through a couple of times for various reasons come beginning of May no period! The docs never told me what the conception date would have been?
Midwife I went to see said that I was further gone than I actually was so before my dating scan I had an estimated date of the 5th Nov!
I'm due the 29th Nov so 40 weeks back works out the 23rd Feb.
It's all very confusing - must say I was most shocked to get caught straight away - esp since i'd been on the pill for 11 years! Hubbie must have super sperm (well that's what he's telling everyone anyway!!!)

so what do you reckon on my case?? lol.. just i had my period end of feb, then obviously end of march i misses then tested positive 27th march, then dating scan and doctors etc gave me due date of 5th december, conception date of 14th march.. and that i would be 20 weeks this friday.. make sense to you??
it didnt add up to me, seemed like there wasa week or 2 difference, what do you work it out til x
For everyone that has viewed this, and does not get it, I have worked it out, lol..
You are already pregnant for 2 weeks before you actually concieve, thats why they go from the first day of your LMP, as doctors cannot actually pinpoint your conception date, unless your clocking everything yourself. So when they say your 5 weeks pregnant your actually noly around 3, because they dont count pregnancy in months, only in weeks. up to 40-42 infact, (10months) so for me
From doctors measuring my baby, and me being 20 weeks exact today, them giving me a due date of 5th december 08, going by my FDLMP which was 25-26 february 2008, I concieved around 14th March 2008, which makes me 20 weeks today, but really.. 18 weeks if you cunting at as 9 months (38 weeks)
