Forum Updates - Help Guide

Hey, I have an 11week old son, for about 3 weeks now he has been randomly wriggly and fussy during the day time. He will just start crying for no apparent reason and is hard to settle. He gets himself very worked up. I can't figure out why he is being so fussy....??

Any ideas?

Hi Julz, is it worse if you lie your son down? It could be what we had with our little girl - acid reflux. Go see the GP if it is and they can prescribe your son some infant Gaviscon and, if that doesn't help, some more powerful medicines for this.

It's been a miracle for our little 11 week old

If it happens after a feed try burping him as my daughter would cry like anything after a feed if I didn't burp her. Also is he having naps? My little one gets grouchy when she's tired. She loves standing on her feet which started before she was 3 months and wants to do this most of the time so gets upset if I sit her down. So it might just be your son has a preferred position to be in. Another thing might be worth sticking your finger in his mouth...does this give relief? Babies can get teething pain months before they begin to sow and some babies are just sucky babies. Boots do a great teething ring that clips to babies cloths it has elephants on which are raised and that nmassages the gums. Although there are lots of teething rings etc out there this is great as it's very light and baby quickly learns to hold it on there own. They drop the heavy ones after just a few mins and they can be a bit big for there little mouths. It could be any of these reasons your little one is getting upset or totally different reasons. Crying is the only way he has of communicating..and it's a big frigtening world and must be frustrating for them not being understood. My little one crys when she's farting or just before she starts to hiccup. Sometimes there is a point just as she's atarting to cry that she can be persuaded to laugh instead if I'm over the top happy and smiley and distract her/ But if she's really crying to tell me something important she just carries on crying!

Best of luck

Eowyn
