Hi honey so sorry to hear of your sad lose!

I am Ash, ttc for over three loooooooong years, i had a mc in April this year, sadly being overweight does affect fertility greatly, just as being underweight.

I am a BIG lady to, and i am borderline ovulation, i was told by the assisted conception unit that even a 10% weighloss can increase your chances greatly of falling pregnant...

So i lost half a stone and fell pregnant, i was over the moon after three years trying, but sadly it wasn't meant to be... BUT it clearly did show that loosing weight DOES help with ttc and ovulation.. Plus also you can have a period every cycle but not ovulate..

I have a period every month but i don't always ovulate and release an egg

Its a HARD viciouse circle, i want to loose weight, but then get all sad when AF comes..

Its crazy, i wish i could slap myself sometimes haha!!  On a positve note i have always been a big girl and i have two sons, but i so desperate to have a baby with my hubby....

SO yes its poss to have a baby being big, its just not always ideal health wise and easy to fal pregant...

I would greatly advice getting support to loose weight, mayby we can be mummy's to be 1 day, weight losse helpers and encourage each other...

Sorry to bear the news you don't want to hear honey, but i imagine you want the truth or you would not have asked, all the best luck in the world, i am there for you, join us on the new ttc thread honey xxxx

Hi there
Yes, losing weight can really help get ovulation back on track and also help for a healthy pregnancy, but saying that, I was really overweight with both of mine (feminism plus a love of cheese and wine, I'm afraid!!!) and I had my first aged 34 and my second aged 37. Both healthy pregnancies, no complications and healthy babies who are now healthy kids with pretty good eating habits (aged 5 and 8).
So yes it does help to get yourself at least a bit more physically on track, but also it can work so don't give yourself too hard a time - instead try to see being healthier as a priority rather than seriously depressing dieting.
Hi Ash - sorry to hear you're having a bad time of it too, but glad that you're on here being positive and looking forward.
Love to you both!
Laura

hi all

i was a similar weight to you when i conceived my 1st and second. my weight has always been an issue and in my adult life i have always bordered around 17-18stn and between 18-22 in clothes.

my first dd was conceived with no real probs. we wern't activly trying but it did take 6months which i understand to be average. with second tho it was a 15month battle. i had a few vices. i love food, i used to smoke (not many but thats not the point) and i do like a tipple from time to time. 10 months into ttc i decided to activly try to help myself. i stopped smoking cut down on alcohol and then started loosing weight. i actually only lost half a stone but seems itmust have helped. i am now 28 wks pg and feeling good.

i have only put on about 6lbs since conception which i am very happy about. but it can be embaressing as i have so many extra appts due to high bmi.

my advice is try to loose weight if you can as it will have so many positive health benefits but dont worry too much. if you area fit and healthy person other tan weight issues it is possible to have a healthy uncomplicated pregnancy. you will be monitored more closely but for me i have been fine (other than the usual aches nd pains etc) just remember tho what you feed yourself you feed your unborn baby. so being healthy is always a priority.

take care of yourself. i hope it all goes well and lookforward to seeing your name on a due thread. kind regards hon xxx

Hey,

I dont know wot weight i am but i am a size 20-22 in clothes and i am 24 weeks pregnant. We werent trying but i had come off the pill and decided that we would let nature take its course so there was no pressure on us at all. I came off the pill in jan and found out i was 6 weeks pregnant at the start of june. I do think weight can add pressure but do think it is possible to concieve as my sister was a size 24-26 when she had my niece who is now 6.

I do think it just takes time that all.

Keep in touch and let us know how u get on.

thanks guys for all your input i appreciate it (ash)thanks for being truthful and sorry to hear about your mc ,i had been trying for 16mths before i got pregnant (had been on the pill for 16yrs)when i got pregnant i was about 10lbs lighter than i am now and my blood pressure was normal ,i the trouble is i cant take having to wait any longer ie diet then try ,i know plenty larger ladies have babies look at america,i know of a diet called lipotrim that i have done before but its 3 shakes a day about 500cals but i lost a stone in the first week i dont know whether to try that to get some weight off first but i am wondering if it will muck my system up just dont know what to do for the best arrgggh!!!

on the same hand i am looking what laura, natty and claire are saying and i am thinking just relax calm down about your weight and eat sensibly etc

 thanks guys

Hi.

Very sorry to hear about your m/c George and Ash.

About your thread title, its not wrong to have a baby if you are overweight. A woman who really wants a baby shouldnt be judged for just weighing a bit too much.

Having said that, obviously the healthier you are the better it will be for you and bubs. I wouldnt go on any crash diets, as although it may work to start with, you wont be able to stay on it during pregnancy and the weight would just go straight back on. Stick to trying to eat healthily, and fit some exercise into your routine.

Loads of luck for ttc.

Hi there.

Sorry about your loss. I lost my 1st pregnancy at 6 weeks last easter.

I was around 16stone when i conceived my little Abigail last year (she is now 14weeks). Like you, over weight but healthy.

I think the spur-of-the-moment diets will affect your weight dramatically, but also you fertility. Please be careful. But most of all sensible and patient. It will happen for you. Be relaxed, happy and positive.

All the best. x
