Hi ladys..my name is claire, im 20 years old ,Im 26 weeks and 2 days pregnant with my first babie... ( second pregnancy )..

and iv been reading about hypnobirthing alot..and im very interested in in hypno birthing... but one thing that really upsets me is that of the cost of the courses..I do work but I only earn approx £360 a month only doing 17 1/2 hours per week..(cause Iwork in a co-op)... I want my birth to be drug free, spiritual, relaxing natural birth...

one of my let down is that I would not be able to have a water birth..because im in a high risk due to my high blood pressure...midwife said..if I ended up having a fit it would be harder for the midwifes to get me out of the pool.

Do you think that when I start my antenatal classes... would they give me hypno birthing course sort of for free.. or does antenatal classes does hypno birthing there...

personally I think hypno birthing should be an free option of choice to be taurght with out paying a fee..like when we dont have to pay to goto ante natal classes...

I think if i can get onto hypnobirthing class.. (because I know that hypnobirthing is a good treatment for people who suffer with high blood pressure) so if hypno birthing was a option for me without worrying about payments.. then I would be able to go into a birthing pool and do hypno..

Hi Claire

I went to a hypnobirthing course ahead of the birth of my baby in December and found it absolutely tremendous.  I had a home birth and had a totally natural birth and found the relaxation and breathing techniques I'd learned completely invaluable, the whole experience was excellent and very relaxed so I'd thoroughly recommend it.

However, on the other side of the coin, unfortunately I don't know of any way of getting it for free.  We paid £250 for the course, which was 2 full days and then a follow-up session.  I know there's also some practitioners who run the course over a few more days but shorter sessions but I think the price is pretty similar everywhere.  If you think you can't stretch to it, I know you can buy the book about it which is very good (you get it on the course if you can make it) - although you don't get to go through the techniques with a practitioner it is all straightforward and you could get your birth partner to read it too to practice with you (its really important that your birth partner learns it too).

I didn't go to any other ante-natal classes - a) because I wasn't offered them and b) because the information will be totally different to anything I would learn on the hypnobirthing course.  When the time came for my son to be born, the midwives who attended were very interested and supportive of the hypnobirthing even though they had no experience of it.  You could ask your midwives what they know of it and, if they do, whether they know of any way to get it either free or at a reduced price.

The book, if bought alone, is around £12 I think (I'm sure you can get it on Amazon).  You also get a CD on the course, again which I believe you can buy (for doing the relaxation techniques).  On the course they give handouts too but whats on there is covered in the book.

If you can't stretch to getting on a course but can manage to get a copy of the book, contact me on my email and I'll be happy to copy the handouts and CD for you and send them on to you.  If thats something you're interested in, my email is thejensenselope2vegas@hotmail.co.uk.  I know its not quite the same as attending a course but it might help a bit.

Hi im defintly interested in hypnobirthing.. but I believe if its going to help the mother to give birth..wouldnt be filled with more happyness that they helped a mother to give birth to there baby and help the mother acheive there goal... but it different preference.. if i was a teacher in hypno birthing and a mother who was on a low income and cant afford hypnobirthing..If she was well prepared to go through the lessions I would be happy to give her a free course..because at the end of the day I would feel better in myself that I helped a woman to achieve the birth that she wants..and I would have that nice feeling inside me for a long time...

but some people just only care about making money..and it is very expensive....

but I do really want to do hypno birthing... Im actually waiting for the book which the libarian has ordered for me from amazon.. so everything i need to know even if I cant afford the course..even bit of information that people can give if its going to help me learn by my self..would be a very appricaited and grateful..

Il give you an e-mail... my e-mail is....  gothicbabe2@msn.com ( im not a goth anymore grown  out of it lol )

thank you

Claire xxx
