I have a 21 month old who has just broke his scallywags pushchair, can anyone advise me of a pushchair/buggy which would take the weight of a heavier child. I am not sure of his weight, but he isnt exactly light and he wont walk to far yet.

We have a 22 month old who is very happy in the Maclaren Triumph. It's not an all-singing all-dancing chair, it's just a very simple, light, compact stroller. As such, I'd definitely recommend it if you're not after anything more complex. It's also not expensive.

Hope that helps

Hi Jackie, I don't have any direct experience of the weightier tot, but I do know that Out 'n' About's double nipper takes a child of up to 50lbs, usually to 4 years, so quite hefty. And it's also a relatively light 7kg.

It's a 3-wheeler, so don't know whether that's the style you were going for. There are a couple of glowing reviews for the double version of the Nipper in the user review section:
here.

A more expensive option is the Mountain Buggy Urban, which also takes children up to four years. That's heavier at 9kg and costs well over £300. But people I know who've got one rave about ease of use.

Good luck searching.

I picked up a Britax buggy at a car boot sale for a mere £5 and it's great.  It's a travel system type thing - not sure if it has a name, it's about 9 years old.   It's so strong, but it is also quite big (even when folded), so there are pros and cons.   Below is a wire tray and it will support support a 3-year old laying down on it (tested when we went for a very long walk).     So it can be worth looking around car boot sales at the older style buggies, as they can be stronger than the new ones.

I have just been on holiday with my lumping great heavy toddlers and took my Petit Star Global pushchair with me (similiar in style to M&P Pliko which I also recommend)  - My eldest weighs 19kg and is enormous and he slept and was pushed around in it no problem.

His 23 month old brother is the usual passenger in it and it's plenty roomy enough for him and puts up with a lot of bouncing around and tantrums!

I am currently selling mine as I don't need it any longer - it's in the 2nd Hand Section on the site if you are interested.

Best of Luck with finding something suitable - I would recommend scouting around mothercare and John Lewis to find one you like - then hunt for it on eBay or kiddicare.com !

Hi there, I haven't been on the forum since I bought the Zia Petit Star when it 1st came out for my son Brad who's now nearly 3, it's been a fab little buggy but I'm now looking for someting a little bigger as my son (bless him) although he's not built like arnie he's really long and his feet drag on the floor with the Zia and his other buggy I have, I think i'll be using a pushchair for a little while longer so does anyone have any ideas as what I could get next, thanks Nikki
