Maria I can't believe you've had another fall! Clumsy! You look after yourself missey - can't have you doing more damage to your poor body. Hope this baby decides to be on time or early for you so you don't have too long to wait! x

Hi Alice - we've got a few of Lily's friends coming round for a little party on Friday (her actual birthday) - for which I'm going to make a cake in the shape of a sausage dog (wish me luck!) LOL! Then on Saturday we're having a sort of open house where anyone can pop in throughout the day and say hello & stay as long or as short a time as they like. We just provide a few nibbles & drinks through the day & that way family and friends who work in the week are able to have some Lily-time but it's a bit less hassle than an official 'party'.

Lily's officially a toddler now & walks everywhere - she's got pretty fast now too. She's certainly making the decision now to walk rather than crawl so I'm saying a teary bye-bye to baby & hello toddler! It's so cute to watch though - must make an effort to video a bit more too as I've been a bit slack on that recently and don't want to miss such a fab stage!

Well - luckily we're not flooded here but the weather has been pretty grim! What happened to autumn - feels like winter right now!!!! Lily was up in the night on Thursday night & had a nasty day full of cold yesterday but seems better in herself today. Gary's been out filming another wedding today so it's been like another work day really. Looking forward to some family time tomorrow. Although I have a horrible feeling that we're going to need to get an awful lot of chores done to get the house ready for next weekend's parties!

Hope you're all having a good weekend despite the weather.

Can I ask what everyone does with their babies in the mornings, especially on weekends or when you don't have to get up for work.

At the moment if K waked after 6 she comes in bed with us, and will usually go back to slep for an hour or more sometimes. She does this weekdays with her dad too, sometimes coming in as early as 5.30, and yet other days she will stay asleep in her own cot till 7-7.30am.

Weekends she comes in with s when she wakes so we can get a lie in. She'll go off to sleep for an hour or so then once she wakes plays and watches tv on the bed with us.

I'm just concerned that this is a habit that won't be easy to break, and I don't know that I fancy her in with us for the next 5 years! Also when the new baby arrives and is in our room for the first few months I don't want her disturbiing them.

I feel she should be able to play with her toys to amuse herself in her cot until we get her up in the morning, but fear OH won't want to instigate this cos it'll either mean siting in her room with her for the first few mornings and watch her play so she knows she's not alone, or listening to her cry cos she wants attention, and trying to ignore her till she settles down.

am interested to know what you all do

Ta.

Morning,

Lisa, Tom normaly wakes at 6.30 and on a weekday I get up with him and get ready for work and get him ready for nursery.

On the weekends or when OH and I are off work, we have tom in bed with us for his milk and we have lots of toys in our room so then he plays around with them and us for about an hour before we all get up for breakfast. Tom does not look sleepy and I so wish he would go back to sleep for a little bit so we could sometimes have a lie in, but no chance. He is turbo charged and ready for playing when he gets up. How do you get K to go back to sleep in the mornings? Does she wake up sleepy?

Thats a good idea to keep her in her room first thing, before the new baby arrives, it will get her used to it rather than suddenly not being allowed in your room and probably make her even more jealous of the new arrival..

btw, Joy, the sausage dog cake sounds like  a good idea - Tom is also mad about dogs and squeals with delight whenever he sees one. I'm going to attempt to make a caterpillar cake though, i'll buy a big swiss roll and then decorate it myself.. Cant go too wrong that way, or so i would hope!

Just had a pork casserole & apple & blueberry crumble for lunch. We all sat down together to eat today - not something we get to do very often - but Lily really enjoyed getting stuck into her grown up dinner!

She's gone down for her lunchtime nap now but she's coughing away poor soul! Last night was the most rubbish evening I've had in months - Gary was out filming a wedding so I got stuck into some housework to save time today & realised I couldn't even make it more interesting by having a glass of wine on the go as we've just run out! When Gary finally got home at 9pm, Lily woke on cue with the worst teething pains & didn't settle for over 2 hours!!!! So that was our Saturday night!!! Nice!!! LOL!

Got more chores done this morning and am knackered now - will have to have a nice relaxing bath this evening (if Lily will let me!!!)

Alice - that's pretty much the plan I have for the dog cake - using a big swiss roll & decorating it myself. Just gotta make a decent thick chocolate frosting & use a chocolate finger for tail & mini rolls for legs probably - hmm we'll see! Lily pretty much has the same reaction when she sees dogs & it's her favourite word too - that & woofing! LOL!
