Tyler is getting big, he is wearing a 9-12 snowsuit as the others are too short! He's going to be huge!!! lol. He can sit up most of the time but still has a wobble after a while. He rubs his eyes when he gets tired which is so cute, and also the cue to shove him in bed lol. Today I am starting to try to get him in his cot for all naps in the day. My OH normally holds Tyler in the afternoons and ends up falling asleep on him! Now my OH is on days and he wants me to hold him all the time too!! I put him to bed as soon as he rubbed his eyes and he went to sleep after 1 minute, which has never happened before! yay! Tyler is having 3 solid meals a day, and starting to not take his 2nd morning bottle (at 9am with his food). He's a right piggy with food though, and will eat anything. his arms fling everywhere when he sees a rusk he can get his gums in to! lol. Ugh, we had a terrible cold!!! Tyler did well though, and only woke a couple of time in the night over the whole week.
Bev, hope your back and neck are ok!!! MY scar is mostly white now, a bit pink too but getting better every day. It still hurts sometimes, if I do too much lifting etc.
Cristina, apparently only 50% of babies that were sleeping through the night contiue to do so after 6 months!! Saying that, Tyler has had spells of waking but is sleeping well again now. Good luck, hope she sleeps better for you.
Laura, the group sounds cool! We are going to start 2 groups next week, a mum + baby one, and a sing-along one too. Should be fun!
Hope everyone is ok and babies doing good. I can't believe Tyler will be 6 months soon!! EEEEK!!
I'm trying too to put Eve to sleep in her big cot during the day and have the same problem that you. My OH when he's working in England and come to sleep home the first thing he does is pick up Evelyn from her chair and when we realize she's sleeping in his arms. When is to sleep in the night no problem but she's in this moment refuse sleep there during the day and making a fuss everytime i put her to sleep or she's tired. Eve is too in 3 solids per day and enjoying every one and she drop the amount of milk too. she gave a big jump, everyone can see that.
All you mums with babies on solids will think I am totally mad but last night I gave Logan his first ever bottle of formula and I cried ! Thought the stuff smelt revolting and was totally gutted to be giving it too him. 24 hours on however I am totaly relieved not to have to be expressing 9-10oz of milk everyday for his last feed. I still have to express before I go to bed or I wouldnt make it through the night without exploding, so he can have a bottle of expressed milk every other night. Considering how much I hated breast feeding when he was born I am amazed at how obsessed with it I had become!
Julz, it sounds like you are having a great time with Tyler, eating well, sleeping well and growing nicely. We put Logan in his snowsuit (6-9 months) for the first time today. it drowned him but kept him snug when we walked the dogs. Hope baby groups go well. I really must try and go to some, not very keen at the moment. Very worrying that only 50% of babies that were sleeping through do after 6 months. Logan is a great sleeper and it would be a total shock to the system if he were to stop!
Cristina, hope Evelyns sleeping improves during the day. I have got to the point that I leave Logan to cry now in the daytime until he goes to sleep. Ran out of other things to do as he doesnt like his dummy any more and is too heavy to carry around for ages. He has got much better at sleeping in the day since I have done this. Just turn the telly up and dont listen to it cos that is way too stressfull. Good luck!
Hello ladies, I hope you and the wee ones are keeping well. Only 10 days now before I head home, I’m really excited but also a bit nervous as Ben and I are traveling alone! 6 hours on a plane and a 2 hour stop-over in Paris with no one to help is a little daunting! Dunno how I’ll cope at Manchester airport collecting our luggage, car seat buggy and carry a baby…!!!??? No doubt the airport staff will be prohibited from helping thanks to the health a safety Nazis!
Thanks for your c-scar answers; you reassured me that I’m normal.
Cristina – I’m told babies sleep patterns regularly change, and as they grow the amount of sleep they need can fluctuate. I think if your baby is feeding and growing well you don’t need to worry too much. Benjamin stirs every night at 2 and at 4 – he just tosses and turns a bit and moans but on the whole will settle again. Not easy on the mum’s though when baby is moaning in the night as we don’t sleep eh!?! I hope she settles again soon flower. Fingers crossed for Artur’s job – I think many people are worried about job security at the moment; the world is in turmoil.
Vicky – why do you feel inadequate flower? You’ve given Logan all he could ask for and more, not many people would have sacrificed so much expressing as you have. You should be proud flower. I know what you mean about the bottle though – I was devastated at first, then I felt hurt that Benjamin like the formula so much!! How crazy am I???? Things are much better now, and though I’m glad I got to 5 months just on the boob half of me wonders why I was stubborn and didn’t take the pressure off earlier! I guess you have to be ready to let them move on, I was the same with solids. Vicky how as the weekend away? Did Logan get to swim?
Speaking of solids, I started his lordship on solids last Thursday, he was not too keen on the baby rice at first, but now enjoys it and loves his pear. I’m taking it slow and following Gina’s (Ford) menu plan, so sweet potato is on the menu tomorrow! The upside of Ben eating solids and one formula bottle is his weight – he’s put on a whopping 800g in a month! Now above the line at 6.45kg – HURRAH!!!!
Hi Julz – Tyler’s doing well by the sounds of things. Made me laugh with his rusk; I used to love rusks when I was little, can’t get them here without loads of sugar and salt even Farleys has salt in it!! How’d the groups go?
Anyway – where has everyone else gone to? Is anyone back at work yet???
Weekend here for us now, so take care all and speak soon…
Hi everyone, long time no email! we have finally had our internet re connected after the move, its been a nightmre without it, I never realised how much i relied on it!
Daniel is great, 17lb 3oz now, big boy! we are just getting to the weaning stage I think but I am trying to hold off as he is only 17 weeks. Glad to hear that everyone is doing well. will try to be on here most often!
Lots to catch up on.I just typed a big reply to everyone's messages and laptop went haywire and lost reply!!!
Julz- wow Tyler is getting big. Isla is still in 0-3 month clothes but then I am quite short so looks like she might take after me.
Cristina - Hope Evelyn's sleeping improves. Isla isn't too good at going to sleep in the day but settles herself to sleep well last thing at night.
Vicky- I know what you mean about the bottle feeding. I felt so dissappointed the first time I gave Isla a bottle but now it's part of her routine and Daddy gets to give her the 1 bottle a day.
Bev - Hope the flight goes well. Are you coming back for Christmas or will you be going back to Saudi before then?
NG- Bet you're glad to be back online, glad Daniel is well. Good luck with the weaning, Isla was also 17 weeks when I first tried her on solids.
Hello to all other Mums and babies I have not mentioned. We have been away for a few nights as OH was off work this week. Had a nice time going swimming with Isla and going for walks with the dog. Isla is sleeping better 7.30 -5 last night so hopefully she will keep that up. Isla is having a nap now and then we are going swimming when she wakes.
Has anyone else started thinking about returning to work? I am not due back until May 29th but want to return part-time so not sure how soon to speak to my employer about the reduction in hours and also when to start looking for childcare. Any advice from anyone?
I am also going back in May and I have already found a childminder. If you are thinking of a nursery it might be best to look now as spaces can fill up quickly. Also childminders generally are only allowed 1 baby under 1 so can be difficult to find. Your local council can provide a list of registered childminders or ask around for recommendations thats what I did. You should write to your HR dept and tell them that you intend to return however that you wish to work reduced hours, they will then get in touch with you to explain what will happen.
Hope that helps! well done on the swimming. I have not been brave enough to take Dan yet!
Feeling all buzzy today, just been to a Fit 2 Push session at a local park. An hour of jogging and walking with your buggy and doing exercises with lots of other mums was great!
Bev, very brave going on the plane by yourself. Ben should be fine it is just all the stuff you need to take and get around with that is the problem. Sure you can bat your eyes at some airport official for a bit of help though . Glad all is going well with the solids. I shall be following Ginas menu plans when I finally get around to it or Logan will end up eating the same thing every day and becoming malnurished (I am a creature of habit)!
NG great to hear from you. Dan certainly is big. I had Logan weighed yesterday and he was 16lb and is 17 weeks too. He is in the 90th centile for length but only the 75th for weight, skinny boy It is facinating how different they all are. I am no where near ready to wean Logan yet. (he might be ready but I am not )
Laura, do you take Isla swimming by yourself or go to a class? I have only taken Logan with Andrew and havent been brave enough to go on my own yet. He does get a bit worried by the whole experience and has to be in a really good mood to go although he does relax eventually. It is more the noise than the water that upsets him.
Anyway better go and check Logan cos he is asleep in the car. Better make sure he is not screaming his head off!
Hi everyone, at this same time my baby was born 6 months ago. How it's possible past already 6 months? I just want today cry but it's good tears if you understand what i mean. Thanks for all your postings it's mean a lot to me. Well i found when Eve has a homedade spoup at night she manage to sleep all night but if i give her that you by from the stores 2 hours after she has milk and wakes during the night for another feed. last Tuesday i went weight her and she's now 12£1 1/"2oz. The way she's putting her fingers in her mouth i believe will be the Christmas present (1/2 theeths). Well we decide going pass the Christmas in Portugal so we're leaving on 18 December and return Sunday 4 January. From all the postings believe even Eve was the 1st to be born she's the smalest and with less weight but since she's healthy does matther. About return to work i'll return in March. I manage to work with my boss and from 2nd Fev to 12th March i'll take my 08/09 holidays (otherwise i lost them) and start to work 13th March (Friday.........brrrrrrrr.....witch day) and i have Eve nursery settle before i went in maternity leave. She'll be in the hospital nursery so if she needs me i'll be in the building next to her. Artur it's away again for 2 weeks in Spain but he told me he'll bring a walker to Eve this time.
Bev-Hope your flight went well and you can pass a nice Christmas even if it's in saudi.
NG- Logan is so big compare with Eve. Hope you and him are fine.
Mrs A- Swimming sound so great. Are you in a class or alone with Isla?
NG - Thanks for the advice on work. Really need to speak to my boss about the days I want to go back (hopefully I can return 3 days a week) so that I can then organise a nursery place. My Mum will look after Isla 2 days a week but I would like her to go to nursery 1 day to socialise with other kids.
Vicky - well done on all the exercise.
Cristina- I know what you mean about the time, where did it all go?!
For everyone who was asking about swimming, we go to Mum & Baby lessons. Have only had 2 so far and Isla loves them. We also took her swimming on our own when we were away.
How are all the Mums and babies getting on, has quite quiet on here lately. Isla is doing well and has been sleeping through the night most nights (touch wood, hope it continues!).
really sorry it's been such a long time since I've got on here. Just really really busy and wrapped up in the day to day of life with 3 children under 5! I've just read the posts on this page - it's so good to hear bits of your news and feel I'm right back in touch with what all of you are going through - just as its' been from the start of this journey last year. I can't believe how fast time has gone and it's still flying by, Miriam is 5 and a bit months now - I'm so in touch with the feelings of desolation giving formula, mine started when I had to supplement breast feeding after 3 weeks right back in the early weeks when she dropped 2 centile lines and had constantly green poo. I still feel bad about not being able to exclusively breast feed - but I'm very proud I kept up with breastfeeding 5-7 times per day on top of the 2 bottles of formula, it's really been a labour of love. She's on 2 meals a day now (I say meals, I mean a bit of baby rice and fruit/veg purees) her milk needs are dropping a bit now has her two bottles, plus 4-5 breast feeds a day (and night) unfortunately after sleeping through for ages she's started waking every night between 4-5am for a feed - a real shock to the system and not very popular with me at all, but she obviously needs it so I hope she's just having a growth spurt. last weigh in 2 weeks ago she was 14lbs 3oz so quite light still, onthe 25 th percentile for weight still. She loves her food and I love making it, I loved weanign with eli and freya too. Trying sweet potato tomorrow, she loved pear and carrot.
Bev good luck with the flight, i'm sure people will help you out but you might have to ask them. Great to hear all the rest of your news, will try to go back and catch up properly coz I only got snippets from this page.
I have to go back to work in January. I can hardly bear to think about it. I don't want to go back at all but have no choice because of the finances and can't even afford to put it off a couple more months. I go back on 13th so still about 7 weeks to go. I'm treasuring every single minute. Thank goodness I only work 3 days per week, couldn't bear to do full time. Will just have to wait and see how I cope.
Lots of love to you all and all the babies, it's good to be back. Becky xx
