I am 17 weeks pregnant and haven't felt the baby move yet? I know that this can take a while, but i am worried whether this is normal? I have been told i will just know when it is the baby and not just a 'twinge' but i am not so sure! Any help would be much appreciated. Worried x x

Hi Helen. Please try not to worry, I didnt definitely feel my baby move until after 20 weeks. I think if its your first it is difficult to tell if its a twinge or a proper kick. My m/w said big movements wont happen until later in your pregnancy, actually said people who say they feel the baby really early are usually just having trapped wind . Hope ive reassured you a bit. Em x

Hi Helen I felt my baby the first few times just after I heard the heartbeat for the first time which was exactly where you are in your pregnancy. I felt flutters then for a few weeks and got my first proper kicks round about wk 20-21. It will happen, and you'll love it when it does. My little one goes crazy most of the day now, which is lovely Good luck! Suzie&Squidge (26+3)

Helen There may come a time when you turn to your bump and say 'Will you just sit still for a moment, PLEASE!' or 'ER, excuse me, but do you mind, I'd like to get some sleep please!' I'm 29+3 and today am constantly having to push body parts back into place!! It will happen for you, and to begin with it's charming bubbles and little flicks...eventually you will be feeling like your on some kind of ship in the middle of a storm and it can be un-nerving and make you feel quite sick at times. Thank you all so much for your support i think it may be a combination of impatience and worry! I can't wait until i can feel it wriggling about inside! such a relief to know that its just a matter of time and i will have to keep telling myself to be patient! xx

Glad you feel better after your appointment. If you still worry, you could buy/rent a doppler then you can hear the babies heartbeat whenever you want. Em x

The 1st movements are sooo exciting, if a little confusing!! I think i was around 22 weeks when i thought...'Ooop, tht was DEFINATELY a kick' Before i was just having little bubbles...its nice when you get a bit further on and you can sit in the bath and watch the ripples!! at 37 weeks now the movements are so strong, i swear shes gonna knock me over!!! it so lovely tho and very reassuring, shes got a massive bum too, so if im ever a bit worried i give it a rub and she wiggles it for me! hee hee!!! xxx

I was exactly the same wasnt feeling much movement till 20 weeks, im now 21 weeks and just getting alot of flutters not had any real kicks but it is very comforting when i feel the flutters

I am 18 weeks tommorow and still not much? i am so tuned in to it that sometimes i think i feel something and other times convinced he/she isn't moving at all! I am going to hold out until my 20 weeks scan which will put my mind at rest! Being a first time mum is not so easy! My boyfriend keeps telling me i worry too much and just to relax but its so hard to explain to him how it feels to have a constant link with something you are creating and being unable to feel it! x x

Baby has definitely started wriggling around! I felt a few flutters over the past week but last night just before I fell asleep I could definitely feel something like bubbles inside and I knew it was him/her, and now sat at my desk I can feel baby again!! Such a lovely feeling and definitely a weight off my mind! I just have to brace myself for the kicks and punches now! x

Hey When I went for my first scan at 12.5 weeks, they said the baby was extremely active even though i couldnt feel a thing lol, when I got to 17 weeks, I started to feel movements, id lie in bed and it would situate itself somehow, and my belly would have a rock hard lump where it was sticking its bum out or something..hehe.. Anyways im going for my 20 weeks scan next week and find out the sex we cant wait.. but im 19 weeks at present and when I have a bath, (not all the time) me and my partner have saw the baby move from the outside.. really strange, it just popped out ywice, my boyfriend was so shocked, as im only 29 weeks, but everyones different I guess.. I told midwife, she said it was a very active baby and was gonna be a party animal like its mommy lol..now if I dont feel any movement for around a few hours, I dont like it...but I know the baby has to sleep sometimes Wait until you feel them movements, theyre unreal.
