hi people

i was just wondering if anyone has any tips of helping hayfever symptoms without using meds, im currently 5weeks pregnant (found out yesterday wooop) and dont want to use meds and im suffering really bad with the sneezes and runny nose

any advice or tips would be great

sure something called chlorphenamine tablets 4mg, take one every 4-6 hrs

I'm due in October and was suffering awfully with hayfever a few weeks ago (luckily the weather's been so rubbish it's kept the pollen count down recently). Usually I suffer for about 6-7 weeks and after years of asking I finally had the injection last year (sweet bliss!) as I've never found tablets or eye drops to be much help (and the nasal spray just runs down the back of my throat leaving an awful taste). Went to my GP as I knew  I couldn't have the injection this year and she said all I could take was eye drops and nasal spray. She spent about 15 minutes searching through her medical books before accepting defeat and confirming there are no anti-histamines that have had enough research on them to say they're safe for baby. Sorry that's not helpful - I was going out of my mind with itchy eyes/nose/mouth/ears and the stuffy head and sneezing so was hoping for a miracle!

I have found the vaseline in nostrils helps a bit as does washing my hair before bedtime so I don't wake up in a total state - am afraid I have no more useful tips (have been given such useful nuggets as 'don't have your windows open in the evening' and 'don't sit in grass' - as if someone who's suffered from pollen allergies for 2 decades isn't already well aware of that sort of thing!).

Sorry to be so negative - hope you find some of the suggestions on the forum helpful.
