Hi there this is first time i ve eva written on a place like this and a bit nervous!!!  i started bleedin last sunday wen i was 10 and a half weeks pregnant so i rang up midwife from local hospital and they said earliest they could see me was thurs which i thought was awful, in end things got worse and went to A&E on tues night 4 hours later i was seen by a doctor and admitted to hospital i had a scan wed morn but they couldnt find a heart beat but still wasnt sure if dates were wrong or if i was miscarryin. since then been bleeding lots and lossin large amounts of clots had to go back to hospital on fri even and as normal the NHS were awful i feel they hav made this situation so much worse then it had to be!!! was any1 else treated like this?

How long did u all bleed for wen u miscarried and how heavy was it, i dont really know wot is normal as this is my first mc.

would b thankful to any responses

Hi Katie

Not mc before personally but read ur post & my heart goes out to you hunny.

A friend of mine mc and she described it as being covered from the boobs down with blood (sorry for the awful image that makes!) it all happened suddenly one night I think rather than over the course of a few days.  She also went to NHS hospital & was treated awfully! Its not right! You should be sorted out straight away, without making a very upsetting experience 100 times worse!

Probably doesn't help much but just wanted to give u what info I know.

Let us know how you get on....All the very best of luck to u

Hi Laura

Thank u so much for replying. I think it is awful how people get treated today by the NHS and it makes me cringe wen i realise other people are being treated the same as i was it is disgustin and has made me lose all faith in our medical system we have here!

I feel so sorry for wot ur friend went through i cant imagine how it would feel not to have any warning at all wot was about to happen. My systems r startin to ease up a bit i think which im not sure is good or bad as it means everything has probably gone but still not sure if ive passed the feotus or not. Does any1 know if you'll know wen this happens( may sound a strange question to ask but at least then you'll know for sure i guess).

Any info anyone writes on here is a huge help so i thank u.

hi katie,

i had a m/c in jan, i bled for about a week. i was also not treated very nice by the nhs. i wasnt very happy when i went into a&e i was seen by a male forgein doctor whos english wasnt the best and who didnt really care.

i know how much pain your going thru, its awful. although our babies werent very old they were still our babies and i think thats what ppl seem to forget. it does get better over time. i think i would be in bits at the minute as the baby i lost would of been due next week if i wasnt pregnant again.

i was so lucky to fall again so fast, most ppl say m.c is so much more common then we think and there right alot of women have a mc to prepare our bodies for the next pregnancy. a lot of women also dont know they have had a mc. i did a preg test on the wed then mc on the saturday so if i hadnt of done the test i wouldnt of knew i was mcarrying i would of just though it was my late period.

keep your chin up, you'll get thru the other side.

here if you need to talk

Hi vicky

thank u for your reply i find it so helpful wen people reply and i get to talk bout this horrible situation im goin through!!!!

How long did it take you to fall pregnant again? did u wait a certain amount of time before you started tryin, by the way congrats on be pregnant how far gone r u? Are u findin yourt being treated better this time, do u get any extra scans or ante natal appointments?

I have found since this has happened so many people i know hav come out of the wood work and shared their stories wit me like my partners mother had 2 and i never knew i guess its still quite a  taboo subject to bring up but all my friends hav been so gd by listening to me.

Thank you again for reply and im sorry for ur loss too i bet there isnt a day goes by wen u dont think bout ur baby

hi katie,

i m/c in jan and fell again in march, so not very long im 26weeks now.

they advised me to wait until my next period to start again, but thats only so they can date you better if you did fall. you must wait until you have completely started bleeding as it as can infection. make sure you start taking folic acid everday.

i got an extra scan at 8 weeks but thats only cos i had a little bit of spotting but you wouldnt normally give you a scan until 12 weeks which is your dating scan, then 20 weeks to check the baby is growing and theres nothing wrong.

i was also advised not to have sex everyday as it can lower his sperm count but we did, i had no idea when i was ovulating. from bleeding in jan with the mc i didnt bleed again until the 8th march so i didnt have a period in feb, it can really mess your cycle up.

i hope your starting to feel a bit better,  just let me know if you need to talk.

Kit Kat,

So sorry to hear what your going through hun.

I've been there i mc at 8 weeks and once i'd passed the baby all the NHS said was ' ok thats it now you can go' i was appalled. I bled for about a week - quite heavily.

I mc in Feb and fell again July time - and here i am nearly 10 wks preg. xx

Show/hide user stats

im sorry to hear what you are going through,

i had a miscarriage in february but the first lady i saw at the hospital was really nice to me, the sonographer and the 2nd midwife i saw, were very insensitive. i bled heavily for about a week but it all happened naturally so i didnt need a D&C

i fell pregnant in June, but had kept trying since the miscarriage, however me and my husband went through a bit of a rough patch and the focus wasnt on getting pregnant anymore, it was a bit of a shock.

i hope everything works out for you, the future looks bright, the chance of m/c a second time is a lot lower.  im now 15 weeks pregnant.

as soon as i found out i was pregnant i went to the dr and got referred to ante natal straight away.  i actually had 5 scans before i was 12 weeks which was very reassuring.  i think everywhere offers a reassurance scan if you have previously m/c if not i'd demamd one!

Im so sorry to you all who have been through this but i get a lot of hope wen u all come back sayin your pregnant again   CONGRATULATIONS .

It s so reasurring Babyg2009 to hear that you are being treated so well this time, did you hav to ask for ur 5 scans or did the hospital offer them too you, at wot stage did u hav them?

I would love to complain to my local  hospital bout my treatment but i jus dont hav the energy at the minute and feel like there s no point as no one will probably even care!!!!

I have to go back to the early pregnancy clinic tomo for another scan so they can confirm ive had a miscarriage ( they havent actaually told me yet as they decided to lead me on sayin there may be a chance i wont lose baby even tho ive been losin clots i wish they would of been honest wit me rather then give me false hope) and check everythings gone, im worried that it hasnt all passed yet as still bleedin heavy and pass large clots and scared wot they may do to me know as already had 2 internals which were so brutall and i thought hurt more then child birth!!!!

Thankk u all for writtin back

i was only supposed to have the one scan, but when they scanned me it was too early to see anything except the sack, then 2nd scan was too early to measure.

i had them at 5,6,8,10 & 12 weeks

hi kitkat,

I had a ruptured ectopic pregnacy... i never knew i was pregnant and i was taken to hospital via ambulance they thought i was drunk and was just making it up! i was seen by the sister in a&e she took me seriously and within an hour i was in theatre having my baby and fallopian tube removed...i was also given blood transfusions and i spent my time in theatre fighting for my life!

since then i have mc twice each time i was worried sick that i'd loose the other tube... instead just the baby, i was an emotional wreck for each of the pregnacies i felt like i spent months in the early pregnacy assessment unit...

i got pregnant again soon after the 2nd mc and was counting the days till the end of the first trimester and the mc rate reduces by 64% ...i'm now 17+4 and i still count down the days.

all i can say is talk about all your feelings with your OH and find someone you can talk openly about your experience it does make it easier i promise... but keep trying it will happen i know everyone will say that to you and you won't believe it but have faith in your body

hope i haven't babbled too much, if you ever need anyone to moan at i'm here

HI there thanks for writing it really does help wen people share their stories with me, how soon after ur 2nd mc did u fall?

it has now been jus over 5 weeks since i started bleedin and for some reason i am still bleedin (although think it is my period now which is lastiin longer and heavier than normal). it is horrible i jus want it to all b over wit now so i can hav a bit of closure an move on . i am still gettin +ive home test results so am havin bloods taken every week to see if my hormone level is droppin, hav to do another test on fri and if still +ive may hav to hav another scan!!!!! I found the nhs awful and they have made this so much worse than it had to be!!!

congratulations on ur pregnancy and im really pleased that its goin so well for u

hi katie

i hope that you have stopped bleeding...it is horrid when it doesn't stop for ages i had that with my 1st mc... but i was lucky (if you can say that) that my preg test was negative first time on both occasions.

after my 2nd mc it was only one cycle later that i caught, but it took ages for me to try again  after the ectopic and the first mc i needed my head and heart to be ready again.

i had one period following the 2nd mc which was the only one i had before falling pregnant again.... it was weird as i got married one week after my period so technically its a honeymoon baby!

my advise if you want it is this ...start again when you have a 'normal' cycle or when your head and heart is ready ... only you know when that is x

Tina xx

Hi Katie,  How are you feeling now? So sorry for your loss. I had a mc in Dec last yr, it was a missed mc so only found out at scan as no heart beat detected. It was a horrendous experience and the hospital staff did not make it any easier. I then got rushed into hospital in the Lake district as we went away for a few days to get away from everything! I bled for a good 2 weeks and it was v v heavy with lots of clots, didn't need d and c as had complete miscarriage! We then waited till had period in Jan as thats what is recommended to try and let cycle get back to normal. Didn't have sex while bleeding due to rick of infection and obviously didn't feel like it at all either. We just tried to spend time together and get back to being us as the strain on you both is huge and you tend to find that women want to talk about it more whereas men seem like they have moved on quicker, dont really think that this is the case but men grieve differently to us girls! Anyway found out we were expecting again in March, and baby girl due in 2 weeks! Just take some time to yourselves and if you're keen to fall preg again quickly, i recommend ovulation sticks! I went to Gp and booking clinic as soon as i founf out and if you are not offered a reassurance scan early, you are well within your rights to request one. I had scan at 7, 12 an 21weeks!

Sorry to have rambled on so much but hopefully this has helped and always here if you need a chat, i found this site really useful after i MC and helped to talk to other people who had been through same thing.

Take care

Hi Katie

Sorry for your loss, (and everyone else).  I had a miscarriage mid August.  I had fallen pregnant on honeymoon.   OH and I could not believe our luck but it was not to be.

I had to attend the hospital for about 5 fridays in a row following MC as my hormone levels, like you, were not falling.  During that time i recieved my letter inviting me for my 12 week scan!!  Just when we were starting to get to grips with things that just knocked our feet out from under us.

I hope that your bleeding has stopped and your levels are coming back down to normal.

Good luck when you start TTC. OH and I are now TTC, guess what we will be asking Santa for this year -yes a positive test haha.

 Good Luck to you all

Kaz xxx
