Hi everyone, I have been ttc since before Christmas after having a mirena coil removed in September after having it in for two years. I didn't think it would take this long to get pregnant (how wrong could I be!)I had a mc with my first pregnancy at 12 weeks then I went on to have two chilren now aged 7 and 5 and I got pregnant straight away, it took two months with my youngest, I now know how lucky I was. Does anyone have any advice or tips? It's nice to hear from others in similar situations. here goes another month of trying, no complaints from hubby on that though!!

Hi there,

I'm still trying for my first, but I was wondering if it might be down to aspects such as your age?

At the moment I'm concentrating on charting things like my period and time of ovulation, but I haven't moved onto charting my temperature yet. Is this something you might consider trying?

Hi Ann , thanks for your response. I am 30 so not quite over the hill but I had thought of that. I do monitor my periods and signs of ovulation through cervical mucus changes. I might consider temperature charting but I wanted to be as relaxed as possible in ttc, easier said than done!!
How old are you, and how long have you been trying? Sending you lots of luck in ttc.x

I'm 31, and I've been ttc since the begining of January, so I haven't been trying that long!

Of course you're not over the hill, haha! It's just that I was reading the article on 'Having a baby after 35' that popped up on the website today, and the bit that explained that being older means that you have less viable eggs did strike a chord. I realised that it will take me a little longer than I thought it would. It's fascinating that female babies are born with all those eggs already there, but heartbreaking that they do deteriorate with age.

I know what you mean about trying to be relaxed, which is why I haven't started temping...yet! I might start soon though.

Good luck!

Hi everyone, I'm well but still no luck. We are still trying but I think I'm going to go and see my gp soon as we have been tring for over a year now. I don't know what's wrong but it's very frustrating when nothing happens month after month. We did say before we started to try for another that if nothing happened we wouldn't do anything about it but that all changes when you do start trying and nothing happens. How old are you Claire? I'm 31 and like you had no trouble with my other two who are now 8 and 6.Take care and lots of luck to everyone ttc.

Hi i am 26. How long have you been trying for Nicola? My Doc told me they only look into it once you have been trying for a year.
Have you looked on this website
www.babycentre.co.uk
as I been trying there tips like putting your bum on a pillow after sex to his help his swimmers get there with the help of gravity. Heard legs in air like you pedal a bike help also but it just makes him laugh.
They have a ask the experts section on the baby centre site. One person asked does cough medicine help you concieve, I thought the answer would be no but they said yes. Check the site out to find out for yourself. I tried it for a month as I try anything in hope that would help.
Anyway keep in touch & fingers crossed for you.

Hi Claire, We've been trying for 14 months and still trying! I just expected it to happen within a couple of since I got pregnant straight away with my last two. I now know I was stupid to think that! I'm going to go and see my gp but I wondered if they would try to put me off as I've already got two children and I know lots of people are having trouble ttc their first.I hope you have some good news soon. Keep in touch.

Hi Nicola

I asked my doctor about it & they said they can do test after trying for a year. I only been trying for 6 months. I said when I saw my Doctor that I know there probably people who have no kids yet but who probably been trying longer than me.

Hi Claire and Melissa, well I found out I was pregnant just after my last post in November but then I had a mc in January I was 10 weeks. I've started trying again and my period is due between fri 9th March and Mon 12th March. No signs of period coming and no feelings of being pregnant. I hate waiting!
Good luck
Nicola
