Buggies etc aren't cheap but some are more affordable and flexible to last for more of your baby/toddler's time using them. Have you got any recommendations or thoughts?

I wish I had brought my travel system 2nd hand! I only used it 5mnths and now have a stroller. I found the stroller I liked then searched all over the web to find it as cheap as possible. I managed to get it £20 cheaper than I would in the shops.

i'd have to agree with buying second hand. we sold our old mothercare 3 wheeler for a tenner on ebay, it was well used but had loads of life left in it.
also try your local independant baby shops, after finding the prices out at the bigger chain stores, they will normally match or beat the price and the service you get will be much better. on our travel system we saved £100's over the cost of the same system in mams and papas, by going to the local shop.

hi i'm 13 weeks and had my scan on thursday past - totally amazing! anyway, we had a look at buggies etc this morning and have seen a system we really like it got a carry cot that the baby lies in the back seat as well as a car seat and a buggy - its 3 wheeler looks really sturdy but...its £600 is that just daft?

its £600 is that just daft?
it depends, you obviousley like it, if you can afford it then only you can say if its daft or not.
every bodys ideas of money well spent differ, for instance some people will be happy driving a 15yr old car but others have to have a new model each year, my wifes happy with a £100 push bike mine cost more than £2000, its each to there own.
mind you everytime i see a bugaloo i think to myself someones spent 500 notes

E-bay, Glasgow pram centre and Kiddicare offer the best deals and delivery to your door. My advice is spend time researching the best car seat you can afford with the best safety rating and forget about "trendy" looking prams. Get one that suits your life style. I find my Loola system flexible, sociable as baby can face you and it will last to the age of three plus. It is light weight and I can see over the top of it, some prams are huge and you can't see where you are going. Also the loola the car seat fits onto the chassis which is great when you nip to the shops and they fall asleep and you don't want to disturb them.

You are right to question this, I had a travel system first time round that lasted ages but when I needed to put it in the clio (Tiny Boot!!) it would not go in so I bought a smaller stroller.
Now I use the stroller all the time and only used the travel system for my second when he was in the car seeat and as a tiny baby. once I could cart him around in the stroller the TS was resigned to the garage!
Travel systems are great for new little babies as they do sleep when in the car and so can be transported easily between the buggy and car, but once they are in a bigger car seat there is no need to carry the TS around in the car! Sorry if this sounds like a waffle! I've been trying to convince my sister in law not to buy a big carrycot, pram, pushchair combo spending £600 on something she will only use half of for a max of 6 months!!
Good luck!

Hi Laura.
Buggies/ travel systems arent cheap. We opted for a travel system first, i tried it out with my sister in laws baby as well before we actually spent any money. I bought a graco. first make sure its suitable for a newborn, most travel systems will do until your baby is walking. make sure the car seat has a base which you leave in the car and you clip the car seat in and out so you dont have to unplug the seat belt and wake the baby every time. my only problem was i used the bus a lot, by this time i was pregnant again and chose a stroller similar to a mcclaren but cheaper and better. now i have the mothercare tandem which is very comfy soft padded seating, you can put the car seat in the back. only problem is baby number 3 is on its way, anyone heard of a triple travel system if not make one. Just note you may well pay £500 for a buggy, will it last for baby number 2/3, would you sit in it? me i like comfy and to look good i expect your baby will want to as well. i just think ive had one travel system £200, one stroller £90, side by side double stroller £20 2nd hand, Tandem double pushcair £250, one buggy board £50, one pair of rains £15, umbrellas £30 .
