I have an 8 weeks old baby and she is a big girl, she now weighs 12 lbs and I'm not sure about how the disposable nappies are supposed to fit, i dont know if i am buying the correct size and if they are fitting correctly, anyone got any advice about how to buy nappies and how they are supposed to fit correctly.

hello

harry was the same weight as your baby girl when he was her age and harry was straight into size 2 huggies, 11 to 20lbs. they were quite big and they still fit him now and he weighs sixteen pounds and 17 weeks old. the size one huggies nappies are designed for the runny poos and have a great shape to stop any leakage, but as long as she is comfy and snug but not tight so she can freely monouvre they should be fine. if you need to strain the sticky sides then its too small. i tried pampers a few times but every day harry got wet, but with the huggies he always stays dry even after a 12 hour sleep. boots own brand are also very similar to huggies in absorbency, but i love the winnie the pooh patterns on the huggies. xxx

Hi there
Nappies are really personal. I got Pampers and then never tried anything else. Not because they were amazing or anything, but they did seem to do the job for us. My friend it strictly Huggies!
All napppies have different brand sizes, but within that, the packing should have a weight guideline on it so look for one which covers 12lb. If there are two sizes covering your baby's weight (eg Pampers size 2 is 6-13lb, Pampers 3 is 9-20lb) then think about whether your baby's really do feel a little too loose at the moment, and perhaps opt for the smaller range.
Experiment too. You might find that the fab organic, biodregadable ones from Nature Baby suit you better, or that something like Tesco's own brand have a shape that suits your beloved's botty perfectly!

i tried pampers baby dry as we were having leak issues with pampers newborn and they leak even worse in size 2
my wee boy points to the side and these nappies just don't seem to cope
we were exclusively pampers newborn size 1 when he was born up to last week, huggies just didn't seem to fit him very well, but we are really strruggling to find a size 2 to fit :-()

morag i still have the same problems with harry he is 9 months now, he started off in pampers newborn, then i moved him to huggies size 2 and found he was getting wet very reguarly even with the 12 hour dryness claim, so i switched to pampers caterpiler flex super dry and it was even worse! now i have sacked pampers completley and moved to huggies natural fit but they didnt fit him properly either and he still continues to wee out of the sides usually at night and ends up wet on a morning. i am always very careful to check his little willy is pointing downward and not up or to the side but still nothing seems to be working for us :(

Hi all.
I have also tried various brands but I prefer pampers. I found with huggies that Aaron was always wet in the morning and sometimes throughout the day if he was in his pram, also found that sometimes his poo leaked from the side of the Huggies and onto his vest.
I tried the Pampers flexi fit but I didn't find them as good as the baby dry, which we always use now and it has been months since he has been wet in the morning. I hope that I haven't spoken too soon!

Hi there i would say huggies size two they are generously sized and very soft and stretchy my little boy is 13lb 6, and they fit him perfectly.Plus you get winnie poo and tigger on them!!Also if you join the pampers club and huggies one they give away free samples in all sizes. Hope that helps x
