I was wondernig whether anyone could please offer me some advice. I am around six weeks pregnant and last Friday I started to bleed. The blood was brown and very watery. On Sunday this turned to be fresh blood and almost like a 'normal' period. I had a scan on Monday and they could see a tiny 'thing' (for want of a better word) and that my lining had thickened, they also didn't think that there was much blood. Today there is very, very little fresh blood. They did another pregnancy test and that showed a faint possitive (like the one I did at home two weeks ago did, but the one my GP did a few days later showed a much darker line). I had a blood test yesterday to check my HCG levels and have to have another one tomorrow. The consultant is half thinking that I am having an ectopic pregnancy (although I haven't got the pains to suggest that) or that she has caught my pregnancy really, really early (my GP has worked out that I am about 6 weeks) she doesn't really feel that I am having a miscarriage as I am not passing clots or anything. The thing is that for a few days before I started to bleed I noticed that I didn't feel so tired anymore and that my breasts were slowly stopping to hurt and on Friday they stopped hurting altogether. Can anyone tell me whether they have had similar experience? I am convinced that I was pregnant and that somthing happend about a week ago and now I am not and what she could see on the scan is the fetus. Sorry for the long post!

Hi Rhianon I am so sorry, it sounds like you have really been through the mill. I am sure other womne who have been through similar experiences will come on to this thread and share their thoughts. I am glad you are being monitored, as whatever the outcome this time, good support and care for you is important whatever is happening to your body right now, and what can happen in the next few months. How did you get on today? Laura (editor) xx

hi rhianon,
sorry to hear about what youre going through. i notice youve not mentioned having any cramps when you had the bleeding. i think its usually about the end of week 6 into week 7 that they will be able to pick up a visible heartbeat and from the scan they will also be able to tell if the preg is growing in the correct area. it would be a good idea to see if you could get another scan once you are closer to week 7. at 5/6 weeks its still too early for the doctors to be sure what is going on really. my preg symptoms didnt really start till about week 7/8 before that i had sore bbs that only lasted for a day or so. hope that you find out asap what is happening because i had mc & know what its like to be in a situation like this. its difficult to cope when you dont know for sure, trying to work out whats going on.
best of luck, alix

Hi Laura I went for another blood test today and noticed that on the plastic 'bag' that they put the blood into it said that I was being checked for an ectopic pregnacy. I still find this odd as I don't seems to have any of the classic symptoms. I stopped bleeding yesterday which as silly as it sounds is now worrying me becuase it feels a bit like the calm before the storm! I think I will ring the hospital tomorrow (although I'm sure they would call me if there was a problem) just to see if they have any results for me. Thank you so much your support on this, it feels like such an odd situation that I didn't know where to go! Rhianon

Hi Alix Thanks for you message and I'm really sorry to hear that you had a mc. I have another scan booked for the 27th, but hopefully I will know a bit more before then. It is hard when they can't tell you for sure what's happening and it's getting really frustrating now, but I feel quite lucky that I have been seeing my consultant for nearly 8 years and really trust him as he's been brilliant with me in the past and doesn't jump to conclusions. Hopefully I'll know more tomorrow. Thanks again. Rhianon

Hi there I had a very similar thing that has just happened to me. I was about 5 weeks preggers and had massive and sore boobs, morning sickness was starting to kick in and ooooh so hungry! I took a pregnancy test on Monday and there was a faint line and then Tuesday started to bleed brown blood at first and then red on Tuesday and boobs deflated like a balloon and morning sickness, tiredness etc all disappeared just like that! Took another pregnancy test and nothing - gone. Feel so flat as it was our first and was so excited on Monday and then my bubble was burst on Tuesday. I just looked feeling pregnant and it weird to have it all taken away in a day! Even though I was very early I knew from about 2 days after conception that I was so was getting use to the idea!!! These things happen however and just have to go for it again this month!

Hi all! The day before Valetines day my husband found out the we had lost our baby. I was only 9 weeks. We are both having a very rough time any suggestions? ERin

hi erin,
sorry to hear your news, the first few weeks can be the hardest part. problem i found was that my hubbie and i express our emotions in different ways he tends to keep it all to himself whereas i wanted to discuss it openly and that in itself can cause tension. i didnt know what had caused it and you sometimes end up saying things to your loved one that you regret. its easy to be overcome with negative energy in situations like this. once i had found my inner calmth again i felt that i was ready to move on. right after i had the loss we went away for a few days and this helped alot. the passing of time does help and once you have both come to terms with the situation its really important for you both to have sometime together so that you can both try to move on. hpe this helps a bit, best wishes alix

Hiya just looking for a bit of advice. been bleeding for about 3-4 weeks now, started off dark brown but not to heavy now its very light and slightly pink ish. im 7 weeks tomorrow. i went to the hospital for a early scan about a week ago which showed everything was fine, i have slight abdominal pain well more like a dull ache but its not constantley there. has anyone else been through this? isit possible to bleed for so long and still carry on a pregnancy?

Hi Kerry,
My pregnancy started very similar, but im now 18 weeks and everything is fine. I started with the 'dark brown' at 5 weeks, it contiued to 6 weeks and then turned red. Then i passed a blood clot the size of a matchbox. I was in pain too and convinced i was having an mc. A scan at 6+4 showed a foetus with a heart beat ! Although I did continue with the darkbrown/red spotting until 9 weeks. At my scans they explained that it can be just a small part of your uterus lining which continues to shed whilst the foetal sack is happily attached to another section. My 14 week scan was amazing and now im even feeling kicks! For reasurance is there an 'Early pregnancy unit' at your hospital? They should be able to scan again and find a heart beat. Take care Vic xx

Hi Everyone,
I had a mc at 12 weeks, i was due to go for my 1st scan on the 15th February but on the 14th i started bleeding (not a very nice valentines present)at 1st it was just brown but then it become real bright red blood. I had to go to A&E that night but they sent me home saying they couldn't do anything, that night the pain in my stomach was horrible it felt like someone had their hand inside me and was twisting my stomach. A scan the next day confirmed i was 12weeks but my baby died at 8, now i know this is what they call a "missed miscarraige" I only found out at the begining of February i was pregnant and had told everyone and just got used to the idea of becoming a mum. Now 3 months later i feel like my usual self again, but still everyday i wake up and think i would be nearly 7 months or so many weeks now. Can anyone please give advice on trying for another as i'm very scared!!

Im 15 weeks, and for the last 2 weeks i have been bleeding, first it was brown but over the last couple of days its turned red just like i am having a period and i have alot of period pains. Docs wont tell me if i am having a m/c. went for a scan two nights ago at ae but they said they could find a heat beat and i could of had a threatened m/c, but why am i still bleeding and in pain, does this mean i am going on to have a miscarraige? My head is all over the place.
|
 |
 Hiya Juls,
Try not to worry, threatened m/c is just a term used for PV bleeding before 24 weeks. If you had a scan and everyone seemed happy then you should try to calm down. As for the period type pain, I have had alot of this through my pregnancy and is perfectly normal. I did find that if I sat down a thought about it alot the pain would be worse. If you are very concerned, book in to see your M/W every week so she can keep an eye on you both. x x x

Im 5 weeks pregnant and 3 days ago i started to bleed although its not like a period its a lot more than spotting, I have done one pregnancy test after the other and wit every test the positive line is getting fainter and fainter, is this a bad sign of an early mc? my tummy is starting to feel tender which i guess isnt a good sign although my breasts feel heavy. I have been to the nurse who has advised me to do another test in a week but i feel like my head is all over the place. if i hav suffered a mc would i not be in a lot more pain?
