hi everyone,

in a bit of a dilemma here! cant decide whether to go for a crib or a moses basket im changing my mind all the time. i saw the moses baskets in mothercare and was disappointed as they looked very flimsy and dusty. crib looked nice though it has a gliding action only problem is its not mobile. could anyone please give me some advice cause its hard to imagine what it will be like when baby comes along, thanks!

Think choice depends on your lifestyle. If you plan to take baby out a lot, to friends houses etc, basket is v useful to take with you to give bubs comfy place to sleep. If you will spend lot of time at home, crib can look nicer than basket.

I actually have both. I use the moses basket for downstairs and the crib in our room as his cot is too big for our room. My baby outgrew his moses basket really quickly and now only naps in it during the day as theres no way he would sleep comfortably for very long at night in it.

hi i have both too, w ehad the moses basket downstairs and the crib upstairs, he outgrew the moses basket, and it often teeterd on its stand so i ended up chucking the stand and keeping him on the sofa with me.

he still has loads of room in the crib and the gentle swaying action sends him off to sleep a treat.

we have already said we wont bother with a moses basket with the next baby, as like you say the majority of them do look pretty flimsy even though they are perfectly safe i was constantly on tender hooks especially when my cat was around as as she was intrigued by the rustling and it was at a level she could jump up to and pull over. our moses basket was 50 quid and it we didnt really use it enough to justify the money i dont think. xxx

thanks everyone for all your replies! i have the same problem as sara, not enough room in bedroom for the cotbed so think il buy a crib, maybe buy a travel cot for when i leave baby at parents. like the look of the baby cradles so may get one of them, will probably change my mind again 2morrow!
