since starting my daughter emily-jade on baby rice at 4months she now prefers to eat and not take her bottles. she's 5months old now and the only times she will have her bottle is if she's sleepy. i worry that she should be taking more of her milk (she is taking 5ounces just 3or4times a day when she's sleepy) but offer her baby food and she wants lots and loves eating. has anyone else had this problem? any tips or suggestions anyone?

I didn't have that problem, but I remember that mummygoth did. Unfortunately she's not around all that much any more as she doesn't have internet connection at home any more.

I think she found it worrying at first and then just realised that all babies are different and want to eat at different times. Some babies do seem to wean themselves, which can actually be a bit of a blessing.

I think the thread about it is called weaning. It's just been posted on several times again today, so it'll be in the latest threads.

hi anna kay,
thankyou. im new 2 this site so im just getting used 2 it. it is pretty worrying especially when she'll eat lots of food but no milk except when she's tired. i do wonder sometimes if she just sort of associates milk with sleep or if thats just the time she needs or wants it.
thanx again
