Hi, my nearly 7 month old son hasn't had a poo for 4 days now when he usually goes every day.  He has been eating and drinking the same as normal and doesn't appear to be in pain. He has, occasionally in the past, missed a day but never not been for this long.  Should I be worried?  Is there anything I can give him?  I've tried to give him more water as I thought he may be dehydrated but he won't take it!!

Thanks...

Hi There

The best thing to try are pears/ and maybe just try a day of liquids and massage his tummy clockwise gently and bring the kness to the chest. I hope this helps if not I would call the doc as 4 days is long.

Good luck

Thanks for the tips, I'll give them a try and call the Dr if no results...

The other thing to try is dried fruit. I've never had to use them for my little boy as he doesn't stop pooing (!) but I know friends who have used dried fruit especially for constipation and say it works VERY well!

Thanks for the replies, it seems this little crisis is over as I tried doing the leg thing yesterday, and also gave him some water with sugar dissolved in it (apparantly it acts as a sort of laxative, a nurse told me they used to tell people to try it but don't now due to fears about dental health and childhood obesity).  Anyway, the legs and sugary water worked as he went 3 times yesterday afternoon/evening.  I don't think I've ever been so happy to see poo!!
