HI

My baby is nearly 5 weeks old and is slowly starting to stay awake more during the day. I put him on his playgym so he can look around at the little hanging toys.  Is there any other way to entertain? What toys can they have at this age? Or they still too young? I have no toys just yet, but want to purchase something that they can use and not to put on a shelf.

Thanks

Em x

Hi Emma

This is my first baby so I can only tell you from experience as I have alot of neices and nephews!!

Aswell as playmats with dangly toy etc babies are quite entertained by everything as they are constantly watching and listening to everything around them, toys with lights and music are entertaining for them, aswell as cuddles!!

i also learnt that putting a newborn in the pram and just wheeling it around the house can entertain them cos they like the motion of the pram, and if they are very pleased they will go to sleep in it lol

I havent really seen any toys for a newborn but there are certain things you can do, they don't get bored as like i said they are constantly paying attention (unless they are being fed or nodding off lol)

hope this helps and hope you are enjoying your new baby congratulations xxxx

Hi Tara

Thank you very much for your input! My house is soooo tiny, so cannot push him around in the pram.. but I know he loves it when I take him out.. it puts him to sleep straight away!!!!

I will have a look for some musical stuff and mirrors.. aparently they love looking at their reflections!!!!!!

Hi Emma

Yep apparently so, in the first few weeks when their eyes are adjusting they LOVE anything that wiggles, moves, bright colours etc  and it is really fascinating to watch them watch, I really can't wait until i have my boy and then i can play with toys LOL xx
